Hi everyone,
I'm so glad to have found this forum, you all seem really supportive. I had my surgery on October 25, 2005 and had some complications. I had a leak and I had to go back under 2 days later to get a drain and a feeding tube. That really sucked. Particularly when I went back to work with my feeding tube.
I'm doing a lot better now. I'm still on the restricted diet of mostly liquids and mush. I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow and hopefully I'll be moving on to more things in my diet. One thing I've been noticing is that I am burbing all the time. It doesn't matter if I'm drinking my water, or what I'm eating, I'm constantly burbing. It's getting really annoying. Has this happened to anyone else out there? What have you done to relieve the burbing?
Also, I made the mistake of going out with friends about a week ago and having some refired beans. It was on my list of things I could have, but it had some cheese on it. I just had a couple of bites and threw up. Has anyone else had this kind of reaction to cheese? Were you ever able to eat cheese again?

invisigoth ! I am new to the board as well, but I have met alot of wonderful and VERY supportive people here! Not to mention all the great advice and info I have gotten from this board. I'm sure you will find it very helpful in your weight loss journey!
.. sorry to hear you are having some problems from it. I am assuming that its the gastro-something something bypass surgery, where they make your stomach smaller. I apologize for the lack of technical terminology on it .. let me know how it goes. My brother and myself have both considered having this done. We worked with a lady who did have this procedure done and she lost ALOT of weight. She did, however, have alot of complications from it, which is what deterred us from having it done. I don't mean to scare you, because I have heard of cases where this procedure has been very safe and successful... which I hope is the case for you!
As far as the problems you have been experiencing .. maybe try to google the procedure and see if thre is any information on the net that may help you!

Hello, I had surgery 10/03/2005. I havent gotten sick yet but was told my time would come.
I had a small set back as well. My wound opened back up and I was at home for 5 weeks with a wound vac to help the healing process. I didnt have any probs with cheese. I couldnt eat black eyed peas or chocolate pudding (sugarfree fat free) that I make. seems to make me a little sick to my stomache. I have a few friends that have had this done and they have no cravings for things they used to like or somethings they liked makes them ill to this day and its been over a year. So, you will just have to test drive some of the foods and see. But do exactly what the doc and the nutritionist tells you.. they will help alot. Let the doc know whats not working for you and maybe they can give you some suggestions on what you can do or how you can introduce those things back into your diet. I havent yet been as brave as you have to go out and eat. Ive been only eating my stuff at home. as Im afraid there is soemthing mixed with the foods that Im not supposed to have. . Im just a worrier as its only been 60days into my surgery.. Ive upgraded since my last visit. I can eat the chicken and turkey out of the can with a bit of light mayo. and some triskets. or half of a wheat toast. OH yeah.. and boca burgers. Im actuallly starting to like them.. Just make sure you do what the docs says.. it will all work out... best wishes to you . hope to talk to you soon..
