Getting ready for another appointment!

Hello everyone! I am not new to this group. I have not been in here as often as I should. I am sorry for this.

Well Monday, January 24th, 2005 is my 3rd appointment of 4 for my journey to have weighloss surgery. I will be having gastroplasty, but as of now, I don't know which one my Doctor will do. Roux En Y or Vertical Banded are the two types.
It has been such a long wait. I had to wait one year just to get an appointment to visit with Dr.Davey's faculty - Weight Loss Bariatric Clinic. Once I was there, I was told I had to go through a series of 4 appointments and it isn't like bang bang boom done! Their is a long period between each appointment. My first appointment consisted of meeting his nurse and she explained to me what I would be going through, the 2 types of gastroplasty surgeries, how many appointments and that I had to keep a food journal. My second Appointment was with his Dietician. I had to bring along my food journal and we went over that and talk about alternatives to different foods. The third appointment which is January 24th is with his entire team. I am not sure who all is on his team and what they will do. I am kind of nervous. Dr. Davey is the only specialist in western Canada that performs this surgery which is why the waiting list is so long of a wait. During my last vistit I was told that I was lucky to have gotten in when I did. Because now, it is a 3 year wait.
I cry at times because it feels like forever and I just need to be free of my fat shell. So in the meantime, I have taken it upon myself to start Dr.Phil's 7 Keys To Weight Loss. I figure, even though I am still having this surger, I still have to change my eating habbits. And I have been doing this now for 4 days. Yes only 4 days. I threw every bit of junk food out of my house. There is nothing. Absolutely nothing. Then my husband and I went shopping for veggies and fruits and healthy stuff. So far so good! I am doing well. I am also working on some internal problems such as going to bed early instead of staying up late and thinking of food. Rough rough road!
I am dealing with many medical issues that result from being over weight. sleep Apnia, Week Ankels and Knee's, lower back problems, risk of heart failure history in my family (My sister had a stroke at 28) and all the woman in my family have had heart problems. Also I have history of Diabetes..I had gestational diabetes with both of my pregnancies. I suffer with depression and I take medications daily which helps and right now I am at a happy medium. SKin rashes and so much more. Those alone make me want to lose weight.
Emotionally I have been ready for so long. It's hard. And if....no...when I lose all this weight, I will NEVER go back this way ever again.

Hi IslandGurl,

Read you other post too, about a checklist, just wanted to follow up here too...you said that you have skin rashes. Any chance you might have a latex allergy? Might be a good thing to check before you go into the hospital for surg. Could make you VERY itchy if you do and there are alternatives that they can use. :)

Good luck!
Deb
