Alcohol after surgery?

Hi,

Don't mean to sound like a lush, but I was wondering what your experiences have been with alcohol after roux-en-y. I was never a big drinker, but would like to enjoy a half-glass of of wine or a few sips of some good Irish whiskey a couple of times a month. Does anyone know of a site that shows the sugar content of alcohol?

Thanks and happy holidays!

my goodness!!! this traveling during the holidays without internet access isn't easy!!!

kalimeroo: here's what i've been told about alcohol: don't do it for at least 6 months. preferably a year... that whole dumping thing is an issue, as well as the fact that you're able to eat so few calories that consuming such empty calories in the form of alcohol just doesn't fit in for that time.

BUT, don't worry - things DO get better after about a year ... a glass of wine with a meal is just fine ON OCCASION. so is a wee little bit of whiskey [are you and i twins, perhaps???]

be warned, though. we get snockered REAL fast - it's the rearranged digestion... so truly, a little bit goes a long way....
