Employer exclusion...any advise?
 

Dh just got the info. on his new benefits. Unfortunately, his employer has put an exlusion on the policy for any thing doing with weightloss.

Has anyone had to go to their HR dept. and ask them to make an exception?

I do have the name and addy for the person that is in charge of the HR dept. But I'm not exactly sure what I need to say to her in my letter.

On Monday I go to see my Dr. I am planning on talking to her about WLS. If she is in my corner should I ask her to write a letter of support that I could also send with my letter to the HR dept?

I'm so sad.....I really see WLS as my last ditch effort before I really start having serious health problems. I mean my BMI is like 51 I'm blessed NOT to have any serious health problems!!

Any advise will be appreciated!

ai yi yi... i'm gonna have to think about this. i sure hope someone wiser comes along.

is the exclusion for 'any weight loss program?' or for the surgery in particular? most plans exclude things like weight watchers or jenny craig or something like that, but will cover the surgery.. just double check the wording.

in the meantime, i'll put my thinking cap on...

I would ask your doctor what to say to HR. I'm sure they will know how to phrase things medically so that it works for you.
