up and at 'em!!!! Exercise April 12-18
sooo. are we working out????
i'm having trouble remembering to post my exercise until the next day... yesterday - easter sunday - an hour hike and then a fabulous dinner at peachie's and THEN... thanks to the ever-charming and inspirational MissChris [rochemist], i pumped up my lovely big ball and did abs... hamstrings/knees... pushups. it was fun!!! but it terrified the poor cat. she wouldn't even stay in the area!!! and today, an hour's hike, up a more difficullt trail than yesterday's what about everyone else???? by the way... misschris may have inspired me to pump the ball up, but i did those exercises for the under-the-influence-of-good-drugs MEG... especially the abs and pushups... |
You're a sweetie for thinking of me, Jiff :) . I don't need those lovely drugs any more -- in fact, I'm feeling mah-velous and can't wait until I'm allowed to drive on Friday. I'm going to ask if I can start some walking -- not crank-the-treadmill-up-to-4-and-raise-the-incline-to-10-and-have-a-coronary walking (like Peachie does in her duct tape  ) -- but sedate walking around the track. Heck, I'll even listen to Barry Manilow on my headphones instead of Tom Petty. :D
So your appointment with the PS is May 5? Be sure to share! All this %$&#$ skin is a issue that a lot of us share and there's not a huge amount of info out there about what we can do. I'm so happy with what I've had done and I know you will be too. You've been working hard on that body and it's time for the butterfly to pop out of her cocoon. :) |
HEY!!! My next step is to add and swing tassles as I go!!!!
oh geeze my kids are screaming |
Nothing exciting, it was raining yesterday morning so we had to walke the indor track and I can't keep up with the number of laps so we use the clock. We know we do 1/4 a mile every 5 minutes so we went for 25 minutes, then the advanced water aerobics. Today was kinda light, just the walking water class.
|
can't wait to see the tassles!!!!
for me... an hour and a half walk with la dog. and tonight, the gym!!! more later... |
I visited the gym on Monday, and hour and half work out on the treadmill, bike and weight machines. I'm slowly getting there. After an hour and half, I'm hot sweaty, and tired.
No drugs here, I don't do them. Personal reasons. Hits so close to home. All pain killers can be habit forming. I hope everyone is careful with them. |
2 hours of weights and stretching... complaining the whole time. but i did it!!!!!
|
Proud of ya, Jiffy! I know how much you didn't want to go!
Now tell me ... how did you feel when you were done? ;) |
oh meg... i HAVE to tell the truth here... i felt really well!!!! ummm. except for my weak shoulders. they were tired and a little achy <will they NEVER get stronger?????>
and of course, since i was there, i HAD to use the big boy barbell chest press [you know, the one that glides on a track while you lie under it??? and i HAD to put extra weight on it. and the trainer came over to talk to me, and i told him that i just wasn't in the mood, but i was doing it anyway... and he smiled and told me i was doing the right thing. and then i told him that i'd talked to some people about him [he didn't have to know it was HERE] and that he always shut me up with extra weights!!! he chuckled and said that he knew me too well. i'm still not quite sure what that meant!!!! i like a challenge? he can control me??? he knows if he focuses me on doing something harder i'll be happier??? whatever... he's a sweetie. but the steam room and the whirlpool really improved everything. and a warm shower. how are you feeling meg?? where will your first expedition in the car be? hope somewhere fun... lunch with the girls???? oh. and exercise this morning... an hour hike. it was nice. |
Went to the club and waled 1 1/4 mile this morning, but didn't stay for water aerobics. Just didn't feel like it. This feeling bad is the pits!
|
I went for a hour walk tonight after work. Enjoyed the sunshine and the 70 degree teimp we had here today! I can't wait for it to stay this way! I love the spring and the fall temps here in the midwest. The summers can get really hot, but maybe this year it will not seem as bad since the weight loss.
Barb hope you have a better day tommorrow! |
an hour hike today.
|
I know it isn't much, kind of feel silly even posting this, but I feel guilty whenever I see this thread, anyways, instead of my hubby dropping me off and picking me up at the door today (had another drs. appt.) I actually walked across the parking lot twice. It was so nice out I had to try, and I lived, lol.
|
Misty! Don't feel silly or guilty or anything like that! Feel PROUD of yourself because YOU DID IT and it's a great start. :high: How about three times across the parking lot next time? And be sure to come tell us about it!
|
I did two more nights at the gym this week, making a total of 3, plus one night of walking. tonight, I have to go bake cookies for a late Easter party. Does that count? No eating-- Just baking!!
|
ditzy.. you are noble to bake. and misty: I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!
hi meg!!!! i just got back from a 2--hour gym workout. and FINALLY, after about a whole month of trying, i did 3 sets of 15 at 25 pounds on the rotary chest thingie... the one area of my bod [the upper chest] that's unbelievably weak!! yipppeeee yahoOOOOOOOO!!!!! and pookie.. what else did the cardio guy say??? i'm glad you told him that you were sweating. lots of docs have this bizarre idea that exercise is the same for everyone.. so they think that someone who is not conditioned at all can suddenly walk a 15 minute mile!! as if!!!!!! congrats!!! i'm real impressed here... |
I walked for 5 whole minutes today.....its a start :spin:
|
Misty! :cp: :high: Good for you! Can you do it again tomorrow?
Ummm ... Jiff ... what's a rotary chest thingie? Are those the tassles that Peachie was talking about a while back? Pookie the Gazelle :queen: -- tell your doc you'll wring out your towel on his desk if he doesn't believe you sweat! And congratulations to every else who's moving and losing and grooving! I made it back to the gym for the first time since surgery two weeks ago and felt so good that I walked four miles -- not very fast, but it sure felt wonderful to stretch out my legs. I still have a week at least before I can get back to weights but I'm pretending to be a personal trainer for a buddy so am getting my jollies through him. I have to concoct the arm workout from you-know-where for him for tomorrow. :strong: |
<groan> arm workouts. oh well.. no. my problem is the chest and shoulders. and that rotary chest thingie.. i don't know the real name [obviously!!!} but you sit facing front, and step on the foot pedal to bring the handgrips forward. they're at about chest height. and then you PUSH them forward. it works your rotator and pecs and deltoids.
and i'm such a weakling on it!!!! but doing it with tassles... now THERE'S an image!!!! and for me... about 3 miles of walking. a quiet day. maybe i'll do situps on my lovely big grey ball later... |
and just for you, misty...
you're doing GREAT!!!! it's all done one step at a time. and you've already done more than you ever thought possible...
[I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!! |
Thank you all for the words of encouragement! I walked for 10 minutes today, but then I took a nap, lol.
|
This is so cool! I love this thread -- everyone's doing just a little bit more every day! :sunny: What's the saying? A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step? And then two and then three ...
Pookie calls me a Gym Rat now but it was SO hard for me in the beginning too -- I was definitely a Gym Turtle when I started. But I did it just like you guys -- a little bit more every day. You just never know where you'll end up! Pook -- I love the elliptical (just like Jiff :D ). It's like pedalling a bike while standing instead of seated -- you move your feet in an elongated oval pattern, if that makes any sense. I think the Gazelle is like that too? It's great because there's no impact (you never lift your foot off the pedal) so it's good for people with knee and foot problems. But you burn tons of calories and can hit different parts of your legs, calves, and butt by changing the incline and even going backwards on it. I hope you try one soon. :) |
misty.. after my first three trips down the driveway with the oxygen tank, i slept for 2 hours!!! you EARNED that nap..
and pookie.. like meg said, ellipticals CAN be fun. kind of a nice groove [if you don't fall off!!!] and i gotta say, gang, isn't it a bit strange to see meg post NO EXERCISE??? it's great to see you, girl, but not reading about lunges and biceps from you is WEIRD!!! but we know you'll be back to it soon... as for me, a two hour hike with poochie. she's resting right now. and 5 loads of laundry. and the groceries. oh what an exciting day!!! |
Misty! I started out just like you....even down to the napping part!
I took three days off while down in Virginia and I am itching to get back on the tread mill....and will....IF THE LITTLE KID'S BUS EVER COMES!!!! After much hemming and hawing and discussing and looking at my heart rate I am no longer in the running. (for a while ;) ) I will no longer get on the tread mill for 1 hour at a time. I will do two 30 minute sets of brisk/ altenating with slower walking with an incline of not higher than 3. I will not jack my heart rate up so high. I will be good, I will behave. BUT I"LL BE BACK! peach |
Thanks peach thats good to know! Good luck to you.
