exercise march 4-7

no way am i giving up on this group!!!

move it AND lose it!!!!!

for me: I'm going to the doc. this is settling in my right lower lung and that's NOT a good sign...

Meg 03-04-2004 01:11 PM

Do you know what having Jiff live vicariously through me did? Got me sick! Here I was going to do the exercise for both of us and now I end up feeling like crap. :(

However, Jiff, we did a great back workout yesterday :) and have done a little elliptical today and a lot of cleaning cardio. If I can muster the energy later, I'll hop on the exercise bike in the basement and pedal a bit.

Hope the doc can get you fixed up and feeling better soon. :) Remember, pretzels have no medicinal value    !

ageoldie 03-04-2004 02:35 PM

Whose bright idea was it for me to talk to my trainer and tell him I wasn't getting what I wanted to get out of our sessions?

He showed me! he worked my bottom into the ground, and I'm still not recovered! :strong: :barbell: :coach: We did 30 minutes of a total body weight WO and 30 minutes on the Bike, then I went for my hour water Pilates class!

And Pookie!!! I did do my Oxycise last night, but I forgot to measure, Maybe tonight?

Luna3 03-04-2004 03:52 PM

Well ladies you are killing me here!

I managed to pull a muscle in my back (ouch!)

Feeling better, but had to take a few days off.

DonnaD 03-04-2004 07:49 PM

Hi guys, Just when I was thinking, "gotta get off my butt and exercise" I read these posts and :yikes:

Lets here those positives again. :coach: I need motivation. I'd also like to take a few days off but not on my back. Seriously though, Luna, I hope your back is feeling better and Jiff and Meg feel better soon.
Barb, do you think the personal trainer is worth it? I'm thinking spending the bucks my be just the motivation I need.

Sorry to just pop in like this and jabber away. Haven't been here in a while but I miss you all.

ttyl

jiffypop 03-04-2004 08:46 PM

donna.. i've been wondering where you've been!!! and barb.. ummmm. no one here can take the responsibility for that conversation, you poor thing. trainers have a way of, shall we say, raising the bar for us? and that's why we pay them, but we DO expect to walk afterwards. don't we???

and poor meg... instead of me living through you, it sounds like the opposite happened!!! glad you're up and around. i'm still not. the doc sent me for a chest x ray and changed my meds. and i'm finally breathing a little easier. will take a walk tomorrow, if i feel at least like this. i can always sleep afterwards.

and poor luna... is all this running around keeping up with john wearing you out???? or did you hurt your back doing OTHER things that i'm too young to know about??????

ageoldie 03-04-2004 09:19 PM

Donna, yes I think the trainer is worth it. I'm one of these people who have great intentions and then never seem to follow through. I walk 3x a week because I'm making my Mother do it, I do water aerobics because everyone at the health club will nag me if I don't, but I couldn't make myself lift weights or work out on the machines, so I pay this cute little thing to entertain me while I'm busting my butt. Yes, I think it's worth it.

Luna3 03-05-2004 09:35 AM

or did you hurt your back doing OTHER things that i'm too young to know about??????

LOL! Boy I Wish!

Lifting Weights is how I hurt my back, and I do know better! I have had problems in the past with my stupid back, I knew I was pushing it but at the time it did not seem THAT bad. Oh, until I tried to roll over in bed the next night and could not even lift my own head off the pillow! OUCH!

jiffypop 03-05-2004 10:09 AM

oh honey. you poor darlin. hope you get better soon!!!! and stop lifting too much!!!!

smtown 03-06-2004 10:20 PM

Today I went to a county trail with the sis, we walked for over 3 miles, feeling great, ready for wls 12 days and counting

jiffypop 03-07-2004 10:34 AM

good for you smtown!!!! and what did you end up buying??? <i just love fairs!!!>

am planning to walk tomorrow. i'm starting to feel a bit better, but i get so tired so fast

keep moving everyone!!! stop ignoring this thread!!!!!

Ruthxxx 03-07-2004 12:03 PM

I am NOT ignoring your thread, Jiff! how the heck could anyone ignore you! I can hear the buzz over in Low Carb and SBD.

You will be pleased to know that I signed up for the May 30 Walk for Multiple Sclerosis along with my chubby furry kid, Hershey. We are going to start training tomorrow morning. I even bought expensive walking shoes. So there!

jiffypop 03-07-2004 04:52 PM

oh ruth!!!!! good heavens!!!!! how far do you two have to walk??? and do you have bandaids to go with those new expensive walking shoes????

and i'll be back on low carb to visit... just don't have a whole lot to say these days. of course, i could just babble.. i'm good at that.

Ruthxxx 03-07-2004 06:13 PM

Well, I know I can do 10 K (6 miles) but chubby Hershey may find that too far. We are going to work up to it gradually over the next few weeks. It may have to be 5K if she gets winded.

Buffy, the slayer 03-07-2004 06:22 PM

Well I have joined the YMCA, they now have a "closed" women's weight room, so we don't have to work out with the men watching us and I presume the skinney minnies also. I haven't gone yet, though. I went back to work last Monday and have been running ever since. I think though that I have done something to my neck and back. I have been having headaches that I thought were sinus, but the tylenol sinus dont' help, but I can get some relief by the way I hold my head or neck. I don't know if it is the stress of going back to work or what.

But my goal is to go the the Y at least three times next week, starting Monday!

ageoldie 03-07-2004 09:51 PM

Good for you Buffy! I hope you enjoy the Y. I know I feel better all day when I start out with my exercise.

I'm always a slug on the weekends, didn't do any thing except Oxycise before bed last night, and I will do another session tonight. But tomorrow starts another week, and I plan to exercise all 5 days.

jiffypop 03-10-2004 11:26 AM

not sure whether to cheer or cry!!!

i walked this morning!!! YIPPEEE YAHOOO!!! for two miles. that wasn't the smartest thing to do. one mile would have been enough... i'm very very tired.

but I DID IT!!!!!!

ageoldie 03-10-2004 12:04 PM

Mom was busy this morning so we didn't walk. But I did do my advanced WA class at 9:00, and I actually felt I got more out of it by not walking first, but I walk w/Mom so she will do it, and I'm going to keep it up as long as she will/can.

I finished one week (7 days in a row) of Oxycise, and weighed this morning and I was down 1.5 pounds without changing my eating at all. Just think what could happen if I could control my eating!

Have a great day everyone!

Ditzy Blonde 03-11-2004 12:52 AM

I too joined the gym. A new Golds Gym is comming this fall to our area. In the mean time we have a mini gym to workout in. I worked out for 45 min on various machines, did not want to overdue my 1 st visit, and end up sore the next day. I may not want to go back if that was the case. Trainer told me to start slowly! I'm going back again tommorrow. Promised myself a min of 3 times a week.

jiffypop 03-11-2004 12:42 PM

oh ditzy... i'm so proud of you!!!! and glad to hear that you're working with a trainer. they really do help. they encourage us, keep us challenged, and keep us from hurting ourselves.

POWER WOMAN!!!!!!

as for me... another two mile walk today. still feeling a bit under the weather, but getting better every day. saw the pulmonologist today who said that i'm coming along nicely, but may need a followup x ray in about a month.

where is everyone else????

ageoldie 03-11-2004 02:40 PM

At work, where else would we be? Jiff can you call up that AWL sister of yours and tell/ask (which ever works best0 to see if she can find out what is going on with Debkay? I'm really beginning to worry.

Oh yeah, forgot the name of this thread: Exercise, worked with trainer 1 hour then did 1 hour water class.

Ditzy Blonde 03-11-2004 08:36 PM

Back to the Gym tonight. 20 min on the tread mill, 10 min on the bike and then 45 min. on all types of machines, for the abs, arms. legs ect. Only did about 25 reps of each one. Got to get the body used to this! It sure was not me, a year ago. I would not ever entered a gym, because I felt everyone was looking at the fat lady.
but I am not "fat" anymore (down 80 lbs as of today! ) just pleasantly plump!
