Kathy T--I heard the best story last night at the support group meeting. the women were talking about kids and how demanding they are and one woman was talking like you, her kids didn't understand that she didn't feel like cooking or doing other things for them right away. one of the veterans said, "I just pulled up my shirt and showed them my incision every time they asked me to get up and get them something, and said, honey mommy doesn't feel very good yet". she said it worked and sometimes still does--at least it gets them to laugh and realize that they are being selfish.

Soap box now, I think this is why so many of us are overweight, we don't take care of ourselves--(and eating way too much ;) )
This surgery, for me will be step one in taking care of number one, my new philosophy at home is going to be, "if momma ain't happy--none of you are going to be happy either."

I think you both are right about us serving our families :( What do have to comfort and serve ourselves...FOOD!! The four letter word. It is sad.
My husband was suprised yesterday when he asked why I wasn't going to work. (remember I am 6 days post op) He thought that I would have the surgery Wednesday, be in the hosp until Friday, be home Saturday and Sunday doing my regular household chores (laundry and cooking) and then I would return to work Monday :) Wow what a plan honey!!!! His reasoning was that I haven't been on my job long enough to get paid for these days off. Well that is true but I MADE THE DECISION THAT MY LIFE IS WAY MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE $14.00 AN HOUR I WAS BRINGING HOME.)
He was shocked when I told him that this was major surgery and I didn't think my doctor would let me go back for at least two weeks :( Furthermore I told him last night that I wouldn't be going back into the same position with the company I work for because my PIA boss decided that he couldn't spare me for two weeks or more while I have the surgery.
So that kind of shut him right up :)
I am feeling a little better today. I did find some soup with little meatballs (it is Campbells not Progresso couldn't find that) which seems to go down ok. I still have some gas and gurgling.
I still would like to know which protein drinks to try, so please suggest away :)
Thanks Again!

bevmel is right... people with lactose intolerance can't take that mixture, and rememver: there are a LOT of carbs in that mix as well... dumping can happen.

lots of people use properformance whey protein from GNC. some use atkins shakes, others use NECTAR [i like that one]. some use soy proteins. isopure.

there's also the egg noggy thing: 6 oz milk, 3 servings egg beaters, a little vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg.

and kathy: LOVE THE ATTITUDE!!!!!!
