I made my best friend go with me, as she is thinking about it also. the surgeon was very nice, very adamant that he has never had a mortality and only a .08% leakage. He did a good job explaining things. I told him to go for it. he told me that my insurance was good at approving. He told me it was typically 4 to 6 weeks to hear, but then said my insurance sometimes gave an approval in three or four days and that he is scheduling for one month away now, but that he has openings all along. he will only do an open -- he doesn't do lap, says they take too long, and he thinks too much chance to miss something, he will also take my gall bladder. couldn't promise me that I would be able to play piano after surgery (old joke--couldn't play piano before surgery) any hoo, all I can say is
wow!! big doings here, buffy!! let me just ask: are you comfortable with all this? with him? office staff? support? if you are.. then go for it.. if you're not... find someone else!!!!
and what was your friend's take on all this?? so glad someone went with you... congratulations!!!!
AT times, maybe at first, he seemed almost robotic in his explanations and his "sales pitch" he was more than willing to answer questions, and to be truthful, Jiff-would I be comfortable with anyone doing this? Towards the end when he spotted a bug crawling up the wall and we all had a good laugh he seemed more real. the office staff seemed nice also. I don't know--the only other surgery I have had was a hysterectomy and l loved that surgeon, bad toupee and all. You can't beat a gyn surgeon that warms the speculam (sp) on a heating pad for our comfort.
