We Did It, We Did It, We Did It......
 

..........Hazel and I walked our first 5K!!!!! and we have the T-shirt to prove it :encore:

We started at the end of the pack as Hazel was pushing a double stroller. We did the 3.2 miles in.........59 minutes and 25 seconds! We rounded the corner at the end and saw the ticker was ready to reach the 60 minute mark, so we took off running :lol: It was our personal goal to make it in under an hour and we did it.

The 5K was the National Walk From Obesity, held in 15-20 cities throughout the US.

Jiff, when you get your T-shirt.....don't get the 2XL.......they are HUGE!!!!!!!!

awww.....Debkay!!!!!!! You and Hazel did great!!! Wish I had been there to see you guys make the sprint to the finish line!!!!

this is so fabulous!!!!! we were among those canceled due to the hurricane, but they've promised a make up at some point.

i'm so proud of you two!!!! and neither of you ordered the 2x did you??? there's no way it would fit you!!!! you tiny little people!!

so what's next?? a stroller marathon???

Thank you all!!! Pushing that stoller was a little tough at times but just knowing that we did it makes me cry (I am so happy). You all shoud have seen our butts running to the finish line, ok there was this one older couple that I had to yell at because my little "excuse me" 3 times was not enough so I yelled and they parted so that big ole stroller could fly past them!!

Everytime I think about the fact that last year at this time I weighed 325, and never thought I was going to live long enough to see my kids grown much less do a 5K, I start to cry.

What a wonderful gift WLS has been for me! Not only did I accomplish this goal but I did it with my 2 youngest men!

And just for those wondering I was most proud of Debbie because her surgeon was there and he is still alive, and not missing any limbs (that I know of)!!! So not only did she do a 5K in under an hour, she was within feet of this man and did not kill him!!

:lol: yes Jiff, we did! Old habits die hard :lol: At some point we will get past the "thinking we are the biggest people in the world." When I first saw the registration form and noticed the largest size was 2XL my first thought was "that's not big enough."

and Hazel is right.........I left my surgeon standing :rolleyes:

Debkay--how did you manage to leave your surgeon standing?

Right now I would be happy if I could get to the office from my car with out sweat pouring off of me. :lol:

Debkay, I admire you for your restraint....weren't you the least bit tempted to give him a black eye? Seems to be the LEAST he deserved. I still can't figure out how he gave YOU a black eye. I get angry every time I think about that. You're a bigger (well not, figure wise :lol: ) than I!!!!

Hazel, you and your boys did great !!! WHAT FUN!

Dang I forgot about the black eye. I could have thrown something at his head for Debbie!!! They did give us free bottles of water! Well dang, hmmmm there will be a next time :s:

Okay now I have to know, what about the black eye and the surgeon. I figured it had to do with being in the hospital so long, but now I have to know the details. GIVE....

Buffy the black eye story is this.......after my second surgery, which was the leak repair surgery, somehow, I ended up with a black eye. (we joke, ha ha, funny, funny....:rolleyes: that he couldn't get the leak to stop (that part is true) so he was so frustrated with me that he socked me in the eye......after all, I had the nerve to make the great surgeon look bad.

but, the reason I am not happy with my surgeon is, that during my 45 day ICU stay, not once......did he come and visit me in ICU (his office is directly across the street from the hospital I was in.) and, worse than that is, my husband was in the ICU waiting room everyday and not once did this guy come and talk to my husband about how I was doing.

That's why I want NOTHING to do with this guy!!!!

Way to go Ladies!

Deb, you get your cute little shrinking butt over here to Colorado and I'll teach you how to pitch a water bottle so accurately he'd never have a chance! Remember, I coach softball so I know of what I speak (type)! And, with that fake southern charm (since you're an imposter) you could say "My, my sir. I am so sorry. How could lil ol' moi have missed the trash can by that much?" Then giggle your way all the way home.

Hazel - I think you were very polite. You could have just run into their shins with that stroller (which I suspect Ms. Peach would have done)!
