HEY PEACH,

marsha... you're getting there...
try something like this: instead of the official protein shake [which none of us actually likes] here's an egg custard. it's actually a homemade protein shake, but i got fed up one day and dumped it all into a baking dish and it turned into a decent custard!!!! 3 servings of egg substitute 3/4 cup skim milk 3 packets sweetener a teaspoon or two of vanilla cinnamon, nutmeg to taste you can either blend this and pour it over ice or put it into a baking dish and pop it into the oven for about 45 minutes [30 minutes?] at about 350 ok. back to the day's food. here's what i did at about 1-2 months postop early morning: tea around 8 am: protein shake around 9:30: hard boiled or deviled egg lunch: cottage cheese or high protein soup without the broth or fish snack: protein shake other snack: some cheese dinner: meat, either ground or pounded thin and served in a sauce. this could take the form of meatballs in sauce or sausage or chicken cutlets. to puree the meat, i'd add chicken broth rather than pea soup [that sounds really gross.. how did it taste???]. you can also use gravy. most of the jarred stuff is fat free. and a tablespoon or so can really make a difference. yeah, i know we've all been trained to avoid gravy, but as my surgeon said: HOW MUCH ARE YOU GOING TO EAT??? his view was that if a tablespoon or so of gravy was going to make the difference in whether we ate the meat, he wanted us to have the stuff. don't bother with the cream of rice or the oatmeal. it's not helping you right now. other snacks like milk, cheese, yogurt, buttermilk are all fine. and you can add some american cheese to the soups to boost the protein. as long as it's not stringy, it's ok does this help any?? keep on going.. you'ren doing fine!!! |
Thanks Jiff
the pea soup blended the chicken nicely and it did tast good. |
