Post Op
Good Morning!
I had my Sleeve Gastrectomy done on Monday September 28th so I'm 3 days post op, I'm actually up 14 lbs! I lost 12 on my pre-op diet so I have gained that back plus another 2? Is this just water retention? Clearly I am not eating anything out of control, have been on clear fluids up until last night. Hoping this is just a part of the surgery and that I'll begin seeing weight loss soon! |
Completely normal. They pumped fluids into you and you probably have residual gas from the anesthesia. It will disappear in the next week or so.
|
Thank you very much for your reply! As of this morning I was back down to my pre surgery weight so now let the official weight loss countdown begin! Hopefully I get to have my drain removed tomorrow, looking forward to getting that obstacle out of the way.

Michelle, it's been a coule of weeks now. How are you doing?
|
I was up 2lbs 1 week after surgery it takes some time but it will melt off! <3
|
I'm doing okay :) Struggling with Anemia but otherwise doing well. I'm down 32 lbs in 3 weeks! I've been stuck here for a few days but have been told it's because I'm not eating enough (was averaging about 350 cal per day) so am doing my best to eat more, it really is a full time job
|
Good luck Michelle, it isn't easy thats for sure but I promise it will get better with time. You will not be where you are now in a few months or even in a year, things change. I'm not sure what your doctor is allowing you to eat at this point but can you add protein shakes to your day?
|
I do take protein shakes but I have to choke them down, I don't particularly care for the flavor anymore. Today I'm dedicated to trying to get all my protein and water in! I'm on soft foods currently
|
Hi Michelle, how are things going.

Hey there Leenie!!
Things are going well, I'm consuming between 400 and 600 calories a day now. Was released for solid foods last week. I'm working my program, staying as close to the guidelines as possible. I always eat my dense protein first, don't really have room for extras after that. I eat about 2-3 ounces at a time about 3 times a day and trying really hard to get all my fluids in. I'm also doing better at getting my supplements in. I'm feeling much better and am very close to hitting the 40 lb mark! I make sure to review my info binder daily, review my day and take steps to do better the next day. I'm excited for the future and I know that my success lies in my hands. I can do this! Thanks for checking in on me Leenie! |
Hi Michelle!
I'm not on here much, but popped in today and saw your thread from Nov. How's it going? You're about 4 months out (?), are you starting to feel like you're getting into a new "normal" routine? I was constantly surprised how much things changed from week to week in the first 6 months especially. (I'm 13 months out VSG.) I hope you're doing well and enjoying the journey! :D |
6 months out now and doing well, have lost almost 100 pounds!

Well done! That's a great loss. You must have worked very hard to follow all the post-op instructions. You look great!
|
Thanks!
