oh Bee - i'm still very much a work in progress - and that's one of the reasons i stay on as the moderator on this forum. it helps me tremendously.
I, too, am working on staying in the moment - and it's working. I just keep reminding myself that the emotion will change, as long as I don't hang onto it. that 'hanging on' is what makes the journey really hard. it's not really about what we put in our mouths, is it? it's about WHY we do it, and WHY we make certain choices and not others. More later, i hope - gotta get some work done. |
Yep, the "why" is sooo much more important than anything else. I've never given credence to the thought of "staying in the moment" until recently. :cool:
Honestly, I never could get my brain around it - it seemed somehow foggy - if that makes any sense. I'm still not able to put my hands around it but I'm trying. We talked about that today in my meeting with my psychiatrist. We also dealt alot with the same issues I've been discussing here. I don't think I have mentioned this but about a year ago I was diagnosed with bipolar. Looking back on my life, all the trademark symptoms were there; I just didn't know there was anything different from my life experience. The deep depression I've been dealing with from my weight regain has not been helping BUT every day I can check off that I did well with my eating/protein intake/water scheduling/food journal, etc. my mood seems to stabilize some. This is a very good thing!! :yay: |
Hugs to you both! You're on the right track. My counselor preaches journalling and mindfulness.
