what can I take
 

I am having a back spasm and it hurts like the dickens.(made a wrong move exesising today) I have a muscle relaxer I got prior to surgery . Is it safe to take.. what about pain pills I cant take codiene makes me sick what can I ask the dr for pain without codiene?

cathie... did you try a heating pad? sometimes that helps. now about the medication... ask your doctor about the muscle relaxer. and it's a funny thing about doctors: they are the ones who are supposed to know what to give us. we're not supposed to have to ask them for a specific medication.

don't get me wrong: it's good to have some idea of the possibilities so that you know what the doc is talking about, but it's not always a good idea [and i know this from experience!] to tell them exactly what you want. sometimes you get it and it doesn't do anything for you.

if you have a muscle spasm, there's one pile of drugs. if you've done some skeletal damage, that's a whole other pile of treatments.

so, all this to say: CALL YOUR DOCTOR!!!!
