Surgery next monday and this site gave me....

Yes, finaly I got a date of my surgery...monday 17th.

I havent been aroun here for ages, but now I just had to come and say thanx to everyone who helped me a lot through my first month, when my mind was only getting used to the idea. It's now six months later and I am absolutely ready for this step...filled with informations i mostly got on here.

So thanks again and God bless.

Hope everything goes great for your surgery. Keep coming back to vent, rant, ask questions, do happy dances. Whatever. You're need for support is just beginning!

glad you made the decision that was right FOR YOU! and only one week left before surgery!! do you have everything you need? how nervous are you?

KateB 09-12-2012 01:25 PM

Congratulations to you!! WOW! I hope I get more than a weeks notice before my surgery! Although...If my doc called me and said be here inthe morning I would! I am just a planner and control freak so I would like a little more notice. I hope everything goes well! I will lookfor updates on your progress!

Kate that's what pretty much happened they called me 14 days before and said if I could come. Surely I did :)

Anywav my surgery went really well, no pain at all. I am very weak now actally I didnt expect this. Other then that everything is ok..which is great :)

glad you're home - and remember, it takes time and energy to heal from the surgery, so be patient [yeah, that's hard!]. are you getting enough protein and water? what's doing?

Congratulations!

Sleepy- I am anxious to hear your progress, your ups and downs. I am moving ahead at a steady pace. Everything appears to be on track for mid December.

Kate i have no progress i am really disappointed. Its my first month but im not loosing weight. I am still on liquid diet. Its frustrating really :(

Sleepy, it is completely normal to want the weight to just melt off. It seems so painfully slow, because we see people's before/after pics and think that we will see and experience the change immediately as well.

You have lost 14lbs in 3 weeks. When is the last time you were able to do that? You are losing weight, but you probably can't see any differences yet, so you are frustrated. Additionally, hormones are stored in fat, and as we lose the fat, those hormones are released, making our emotional state a bit more fragile (easily angered, anxious, upset, etc).

The first few months are so hard, as you are losing a part of your life. More than likely, when you were bored, angry, happy, etc., you turned to food and that support is now gone. Add the fact that you can't see the difference yet and of course you are frustrated.

My first few months were pretty rough. I had my surgery on Aug 1 and I remember the day clearly (Dec 1) that I was able to eat a piece of solid food (turkey!) and not get sick. All I ate during the months in between was pudding, cottage cheese, yogurt, applesauce, cream soups, and protein shakes. Everything else made me sick. Plus, it took 75lbs before I even could tell I lost weight. But now, I am so happy about my decision. My only regret is that I didn't do it earlier.

Could you try taking pictures of your progress? It might be easier for you to see the differences even when the scale doesn't budge.

why are you still on a liquid diet after a month? most of us had moved onto food by that time. what's your surgeon's food schedule for you?

Sleepy 10-08-2012 01:05 PM

Jen you are right, I have to look at positive side...I have lost 51lbs since may so thats a mayor plus!

Jiffypop it isn't a month yet...today is exactly three weeks. I need to be on liquids for another week. I have tried some other things but nothing makes me sick, which is really good :) but mainly I am still on liquid. I have my first check up on 23th and we'll see then.
