12 days post-op
I'm back! Surgery wasn't too rough. I was pleasantly surprised to wake up without an NG tube. I was really dreading that. Spent 2.5 days in intensive care and 2.5 days in regular room.
Went to Dr. on day 9 for drain and staple removal. Down 26 lbs. from first office visit. YIPEE!!!! Still on liquid diet until 3/4, when I see dr. again. Moving around a little better. Having some leakage from incision, which is kind of gross. Looking forward to walking around the neighborhood and feeling like a human being again. I've noticed that I am not hungry and food doesn't bother me. I've been making a few meals for my husband and haven't even licked the spoon! Thanks for your well wishes. Lorrie |
Congratulations! I hope to join you soon on the losing side!

Intensive Care
My surgeon routinely puts his post-ops in intensive care for at least one day. I have a history of heart trouble, lupus, etc. and he wanted to be sure I was ok. I was in a smaller hospital and they tend to err on the side of caution, which is ok by me. I didn't have any complications, so when a private room opened up, they moved me there.
