I have a date!!

Hello everyone, I'm new here. I'm 25 years old, married to the love of my life and have 2 awesome kids.My husband lives in another state, but my kids and I came home to South Carolina to stay with my family for a bit. While here, I went through the whole process(psych eval, nutritionist, etc.) to get gastric bypass done while here with my family so I'd have help with my kids. My date is set for September 13th and I couldn't be more excited! I'm definitely a little nervous too...but more excited than anything. I can't wait to start my new life!! I currently am 5'9" and 288 lbs...I can't wait to feel healthy! I always read the forums here and I can't wait to be a part of this community!

Hi Hayli!

wow - you really have your ducks in a row. and we're really glad to have you. what do you need to do to get ready? have you sampled protein drinks and things like that? remember - the first three months are hard, but you can get through ANYTHING for three months!

Awesome!!!! !!! Congratz!

Thanks everyone!

Jiffy- I used to drink protein drinks(powder)...I had one from GNC(in a red jug)..I wanna say it was 100% Whey Protein in vanilla and I loved it, but I need to look at the ingredients list also. I'm preparing myself for it to be very hard for me..but I'm so excited about it also.

Like Jiffy said, it may be hard at first, but it is SOOOOO worth it!!!

And, be prepared that your tastes may change a bit. Things you liked before may taste different after. Not sure why, but it is common.

I'm getting SO anxious...but a little bit nervous too. 4 days and my life will change forever! I'm really excited!

are you ready? are you ready? do the kids know? but most important, is there someone from your family who will check in with us and let us know that you're ok [we expect that you'll be OK!!!!]???

thanks!

Jiffy- I'm so ready! My kids don't know...they're very young and wouldn't understand. They're 1 and 2 years old. I will try my best to update! If I can't, I'll tell my sister to :)

jiffypop 09-10-2011 08:51 AM

you have everything you need? clear liquids? there's a sticky thread at the top of this forum with suggestions of stuff to take to the hospital.

good luck!

LayLay2011 09-13-2011 01:08 AM

Jiffy- I do! By the time we go home(2-3 days after surgery), we're allowed to start pureed foods. They told us alot of people aren't able to so soon though, so to do what we could handle. If we can only do liquids, that's okay too.

jiffypop 09-13-2011 08:45 AM

happy surgery day!!! <is that the right thing to say????>

don't rush to 'eat' - really! do what's comfortable. most of us spent a week on clear liquids - or 'thick' liquids and then moved to pureed stuff.
