Hi,
Can any on tell me what the differnce is in gastric bypass, lap band, and gastric sleeve???

lap band and gastric sleeve are what's known as RESTRICTIVE procedures- they make your stomach smaller. the lapband makes it smaller by acting as a 'belt' at the top part of your stomach.

the sleeve makes your stomach smaller by surgery - part of your stomach is removed.

the gastric bypass is a combination restrictive AND malabsorption procedure. your stomach is surgically made smaller AND your intestines are re-routed so that you absorb fewer calories from the small amounts of food you do eat.

Yes, I think I understand it a little better. I've been hearing a local hospital advertise the sleeve and i wasn't sure if it was just another name for gastric bypass or not.
