Introducing myself
 

Hello everyone,

Let me start by saying congrats to everyone who has already had surgery done and congrats to those who are going to do it. I have decided to have lap band done because I have tried everything else in the book.

I went for my first visit yesterday with Dr. Geiss (Long Island, NY) I am now waiting for Monday to get my appts for clearance set up. The one that may take a bit I think is the nutritionist because I can get my pcp to refer me to one, but they may not be as informed about what the doctor wants. as with the nutritionist they recommend I can not afford the $250.00 yikes..so I sure hope all goes smooth. Looking 4ward to moving ahead and getting that happily anticipated "Surgery Date" :carrot:

Hi Alecia! i read your post in the poll above, and tried to move it into its own thread, but my internet connection is cranky today.

RA is a tough, tough disease. my mother had it, along with osteoarthritis, and very little helped. at the very least, weight loss will reduce the pressure on your joints, but it probably won't help the real cause of the RA.

Yes you are right nothing will help with RA but I am hopeful it will ease some pain in the joints. and will lower my blood pressure which is just as bad. 3 different meds for that..

will definitely keep you posted and I will try to be more aware of where to post. i was just so excited to find somewhere to share my journey and learn from others.

Congratulations on your decision!! That's a HUGE first step!!!

A dear friend has RA. It troubles her terribly. Hopefully the weight loss will help make your quality of life much better! Good luck!
