Yellow teeth after the surgery.
Ever since I have done my gastric-sleeve surgery 6 months ago my teeth get a yellowish colour. I used to wash, and still wash then, 3-4 times a days even prior to the operations so this gets me really perplexed. My dentist is equally perplexed as the yellowish colour is not dental plaque, it's just colour on the teeth. The thing is I am a no-smoker and I don't drink coffe.:?:
Did you people who had the surgery meet this thing post-operation as well? It is really embarassing because people have started commenting on how my teeth are getting yellow and how I should visit a dentist more often. :o:mad: |
wow. i've never heard of this - i'll have to do some research!!!
|
I've not heard of yellowing teeth, but I have heard of weakening/crumbling teeth post-WLS due to calcium and/or Vitamin D issues, so I'm wondering if it might be along those lines. When were your most recent labs run? What were your calcium, PTH, and Vitamin D levels?
Just thinking...do you use a liquid sublingual B12 or B complex? I notice mine is a bright red color in the bottle and leaves sort of amber-colored stains on anything I drip it on, so I pay extra attention to keep it under my tongue and away from my teeth. |
Are you doing sublinqual B12? I have heard of some people complaining about more dental problems and their dentist is contributing it to the subliqual. This is a poser????? Let us know if you come up with something because I'm sure it will help someone else out there.

Hey ladies. I am not taking any sublingual B12 so it shouldn't be it. I did a blood test today and by friday I will be having the results. I am suspecting low iron (though it has nothing to do with yellowish teeth). Anyways my dentist said I could use Eludril mouthwash. It really works, my teeth are now turning back to white, but it is so strong!!!!

Thanks for the up-date. Let us know about your iron.

Interesting issue. Glad it is clearing up, but wonder what was causing it!

nanj my results came out. Turns out my iron was lower than normal as I had suspected, but it turned now that the dizzyness I was suffering from lately is low sugar. Extremely low sugar.
I never thought the day would come when anyone would comment on how I should eat a cookie every once in awhile. :O |
