Default Having fun with a liquid diet...recipes!

When I heard that post-op's live on a liquid diet for 2 weeks, I thought I was going to have to drink Protein Shakes....as they were....for every meal...AND I did while I have been recovering.

The Unjury makes a mean Chicken soup, and the unflavored is good for many recipes. Of the 21 flavor trial pack from Nectar and champion, most were good...some (the ones involving Lemon mostly) were odd, and some like the cappicino and the chocolate truffle were exception!

None were as high in protein as my EAS premium so I have been playing with them....here's what I got!

LATTE

1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup water
1 scoop vanilla EAS
1/4 t vanilla
1/2 teaspoon Decaf instant coffee
1 packet Splenda

Blend, heat in microwave 1 min (not hotter then 130)

MOCHA

1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup water
1 scoop Chocolate EAS
1/4 t vanilla
1/2 teaspoon Decaf instant coffee
1 packet Splenda

Blend, heat in microwave 1 min. (not hotter then 130)

HOT COCOA

1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup water
1 scoop Chocolate EAS
1/4 t vanilla
1/4 t cocoa powder
1 packet Splenda

Blend, heat in microwave 1 min. (not hotter then 130)

EGGNOG

1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup egg substitute (pasturized that way)
1 scoop vanilla EAS
1/4 t vanilla
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 packet Splenda

Blend, let it settle in fridge.

i stayed away from fruit for quite awhile, but angela's using just very small amounts of fruit with a low glycemic index [at least, i think they're low-GI], and she's combining it with lots of protein. so she should be OK.

Angela is talking about GBP.

After band surgery you are not supposed to have liquids with any sort of pieces in it...fruit, veggies, noodles, etc.... but then each doctor is different and gives different advice.

I took out all the ones with fruit. Sorry for not thinking about the people that don't eat it... I didn't know.

Hugs for everyone!

mistymed!!!! call your NUT and get some recipes! I am sure that there is something you can do to mix things up!

Don't get bored....even if you have to say to yourself "Hurray! I can have Eggs and Tuna!"

Hang in there honey!

Hey Miss A: I hope things are going well. Is it a lot harder or easier than you thought so far? Keep yourself hydrated and moving around. Your recipes sound good. I'm trying a new recipe from Eggface from OH. It is a type of breakfast bar without flour. Has grounded almonds, steel cut oats, banana, etc. Will let you know how that one comes out.
