I looked at it as one day at a time and 1 lb at a time. Each 10 lb. increment was a really big deal for me when I'd reach it. I rewarded myself with new clothes, shoes, purses, makeup or whatever along the way. After a while, losing weight became natural for me and it wasn't as stressful to look at the whole amt. left to lose.

Yes... and they both said exactly what I came on to say when I saw the question? :)

Well, I sorta started out with a goal weight of 140lbs thinking that it would be impossible, but what the hey, I'll aim for that number.
I really started by thinking, "if I can lose only 10lbs that would be great" then I progressed on to "if I can just get down a size that would be fab" then I started to set mini goals of significant numbers for me, like 10lbs down, 25lbs down, the weight I was at age 12 (217), the weight I got down to at age 13 (192) and then I was in virgin territory and just kept on goin' and I still am. I also still have mini goals, the next one I want to complete is 1lb away and it is a 115lb loss.
I must admit that I am really motivated by getting to change my chickie avatar!! :o
