Rude Person: "you know, you should really loose weight before you wear that top."
My response: "you know, you should really get some more professional help before you attempt to function in society again. They let you out too soon." Or: "you know, they've come a long way in plastic surgery, you should check it out. At least I have boobs." Ok, one more: "you know, you should sign up to be the new poster child for labotomy, I hear they're taking applications." And that's being nice. |
Lol MEL...too funny.
I was at the gym yesterday. There was a woman who was in really decent shape at one of those leg machines that you have to bend over and stick your butt up to use....well....she was in great shape...but her shorts were way way tooo short...when I got off my machine I was faced with her....well...FRONTAL and REAR wedgie...pubic hair everywhere....I didnt say a word...but man...too much information for me. Id say as long as nothing that shouldnt be hanging out is hanging out (Im guessing like me u were wearing a top designed to keep your boobs from jumping everywhere when you moved or other work out gear) wear what you want and feel great about it...good job on keeping up the good work!! |
Yah what Alora said... don't bother getting worked up about stuff like this. There will always be rude people in the world. Not always easy I know to let the comments roll off! But throwing a big fit or being rude back is really not a good solution. :)
Personally I think a "funny" response back -- such as was suggested above... a "that's what I'm here working out for" -- but said with a BIG smile and laugh -- is far more effective at putting people in their places without stooping to their level. Besides... it is commonly said that expressing your anger makes you feel better. I disagree... I do NOT feel better when I have been rude and a jerk, even if someone "deserves" it (and don't we ALL deserve it at one time or another??) ... I feel terrible and regret it, and end up having to go apologize to people and salvage my damaged relationships. Even this was not a friend of yours, I too agree that you should feel proud of yourself for not smarting off in return. And Button... YIKES... now it DOES sound as if THAT woman could have used a different outfit for sure!!! LOL |
Anyone at a gym who is serious about exercise would NEVER say something like that to another person. I remember being in a car with my hubbie (aka Mr. Fitness, who hasn't changed a pant size since he graduated at 22), and two of his friends, one of whom was a runner and the other who was a couch potato. As we drove up the street, we passed by a rather large man who was out for a walk, dressed in athletic gear. The couch potato snickered, and the athelete IMMEDIATELY said, very loudly :
"Well, that person is out there moving his butt. What are you doing? Absolutely nothing! So keep your mouth shut!" and my husband said "YEAH! Shut the **** up! I don't see YOU moving your butt! Put a cork in it!", and I said "HONESTLY, what a stupid thing to do!" The potato was quite red-faced and pouted for the entire trip. I haven't heard a peep out of him re: judging someone's weight since, and that was four years ago! Chin up! You ARE OUT THERE, MOVING, AND GETTING HEALTHY!!! WAY TO GO!!!!! |
Why would you say something like that?
I would have said, "Whatever are you thinking that would make you say something like that?"
Then -- and this is my ENTIRE motivation to have stayed on maintenance for the past 3 years -- you lose that weight out of spite. I won't give my nemesis the satisfaction of seeing me put it back on again -- and I keep his face before me every time I'm about to eat something stupid. If she said something like that to you I'm sure many other people also hate her. As you can see I'm not very religious. |
