Everyone forgot my Birthday!
I am feeling a little down and out and thought I would whine a little. My birthday is next tuesday and my In-laws have always gotten together to celebrate it the weekend closest to it, which is this weekend. Well it is friday night and nobody has mentioned it. I know it is petty, but my feelings are hurt. My mom hasn't even mentioned it. My sister is mad at my mom and I and she hasn't said anything either. My husband wants to do something but we are broke!! I don't want anything, it is the only special occasion of the year that I don't have to run around finding the perfect gift for someone. Makes me want to quit spending all the time and money that I do running around for everyone else's birthday, christmas, mothers day ect.... Heck last weekend I threw a bridal shower for my MIL, (her second wedding) and I made sure to get her something nice for Mothers day also and she usually does something small for me in return and I got nothing, not even a happy mothers day wish when we called her. Oh well, just a crappy night for me! Thanks for listening.

Wishing you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Sorry to hear you are feeling blue - here's a happy Birthday wish from me

Hugs to you! It's hard to be overlooked, even when we're adults. My sister's birthday is the day after mine & she always felt ignored because my parents had double parties on the same day for us. Problem is, she never said anything to anyone until she was an adult. Now I always remember to send her flowers (we don't live near each other) & a gift & I call her. It wasn't intentional on my parents' part, they didn't realize how she felt.If your birthday comes & goes without a phone call or little memento, maybe you could mention how hurt you are? Sometimes people are too busy to think of others' feelings especially on special occasions.

Sorry you're having a downer time right now. I think it's terrible that EVERYONE didn't think of you after you have done so much for them! I would think twice the next time something comes up with one if them, and maybe this time you can be busy or maybe just kinda forget! I noticed you're from Oregon; I am too.
|
Happy Birthday, sorry you are so down. Cheer up and remember all the good wishes from those of us here at 3FC.

I am so sorry to hear that!
But, I wish you a happy birthday despite it all. |

Happy birthday!! I know where you are coming from but don't worry about it -- you are special no matter if they mention it or not!
|
You mentioned that you threw a bridal shower for your MIL last weekend. Perhaps she is busy with wedding plans and has forgotten. It may be something innocent enough like that. I'm not making excuses for her, but she may feel awful when she remembers.
I am going to look on the positive side and I hope that they have some kind of surprise planned for you. If not... I hope you still find some way to make your birthday special. HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR TUESDAY!!!!!!!:hb: Zelma |

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :)
i think you should take that day off and relax at a spa. And when everyone asks where you disappeared for the day, say "I went to the spa" and if they ask why, say "I was treating myself for my birthday!!" |

HAPPY BRITHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey maybe everyone has "forgotten" because they are thowing a surprise party!???! |
you mentioned that its not till Tuesday...i would like to think that maybe they havent mentioned it because maybe they are planning a surprise party?
anyhow happy birthday early!!!!!!!!!!!! |
After I say, Happy Birthday! -- I want to play devil's advocate.
Some fairly good friends called one time to invite me out to dinner (DH was out of town, we were short on $). I said I didn't feel like it. Later they called to see if I wanted to come for dessert. By then I was ensconced in a book, house was messy, just relaxing, etc.... I say no thanks again. So then they show up with dessert, dressed all fancy. I am sitting in my pj's in a messy house while they sat there uncomfortably for about 1/2 hour, then left. About a week later (when I flip my calendar), I realized I missed Tim's birthday. They were mad at me for ages. But all it would have taken was a simple, "Hey - it's my birthday, wanna go out tonight?" I am usually very good with these things, but had a complete lapse that time. Now I keep that in mind. If a birthday is coming up and I want people to remember, I make sure everyone knows about it ahead of time. Even on birthdays I plan to remember, I love the 8pm phone call from grandma, "have you called your sister yet? it is her birthday." It is a real lifesaver after chasing all day. |
Nope, no surprise party here. My husband just left to got to his friends bachleor's party at a strip joint!:nono: I told him no touching and our hard earned money was not to be put in anyone's panties but mine  Oh well hubby is taking me out to dinner tomorrow since we work opposite shifts all week we don't see each other execpt on the weekends. Thank you for all of your birthday wishes.
|
Well maybe it'll be a surprise party after your birthday....you never know :)

I agreed with morrigan. I'm horrible at remembering birthdays, even though I love celebrating them and giving special gifts. I know there are people who don't enjoy their birthdays too (people I know and love), and so they can look at other people's birthdays differently. I don't think there's anthing wrong with having hubby pursue birthday plans with the family for next weekend or this week, or for when it fits into people's schedules. And if you decide you don't want to do that, people may surprise you (in a good way) anyway. Whatever happens, make it a special day for the two of you and don't let it get you down. :) |
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Do something wonderful, just for you!
|
Happy birthday! I hope you find something very special to do for yourself on your birthday.
My birthday was Friday, and last year my family forgot my birthday, so I understand completely. I have a sister whose birthday is 2 weeks earlier than mine, and it doesn't bother her one bit to be left alone on her birthday. I'm not like that - I want to be out doing things with friends and family either on or very near my birthday. Last year, Mom went over to Sister's house ON MY BIRTHDAY to help her organize her apartment ... they didn't offer to meet me for dinner or anything. I was really offended and made a point of letting them know it bothered me. This year, I was very vocal about it. I spoke to my friends and family weeks in advance about my birthday and what day it was and what I had planned. I figure nobody else is responsible for my happiness, so I'll take matters into my own hands, especially when I have an emotionally clueless family. No shame here. :) I also have been a bad birthday rememberer (not for family or close friends, but for acquaintences, etc.), so I think it's good to remind people ahead of time that your birthday is coming. I start about a month ahead of time and start telling my son what kinds of things he can get me for my birthday. |
