OMG, I Need SERIOUS Help!

Holy Moses! I just saw a pic of me taken last summer.....I couldn't believe what I saw!!!! I mean I knew I was overweight, but that was the biggest eye opener EVER!!! My arms are so chuncky, and my face is fat, I look like a waddling duck!!! Ok, people I need to figure out how to lose all this extra weight! I now feel even more gross and unattractive then I did before I saw the picture! :( I miss the old me.....

Hello Amanda!

Don't I know how you feel, last summer I saw a picture and I did not recognize myself at all I had a bowling ball head and I don't know how the heck that happened without me noticing!

It can be fixed however! I went back to WW and have lost 78.4 pounds since then and still have a ways to go, but it is getting better!

have a look at how I have changed in 8 months

I know how you feel. I didn't ever see myself as being as big as I was until I saw a picture and that really hit home. Most of the time, I just tried to stay away from pic's. The pic they have of me at my doctor's office is about the ugliest thing I ever saw. It was taken the day I started my lifestyle change. Next month when I see my doctor , I hope to be at goal and get a new pic taken. I'll post this old one for everyone to see, I think it is the only one of me at my highest weight. If I had a garden, it would be great to scare off the crows. LOL

Man this is depressing...but it sure helps put things into perspective...holy! I mean I was on 10 medications back then, and really really ill....but still....YUCK!!! And to think I've only lost 8 LB's since February! I think I'm gonna cry!

Well I can sure relate! I saw a picture someone took of me at work and was horrified!! But I downloaded it as my "before" picture... I had one progress picture taken when I had lost about 25 pounds and will have another one done when my niece comes next weekend! I really hate having my pictures taken but I know I need to do this and besides I really COULD see a big difference between the two. This next one I will be another 10 pounds down plus whatever I lose between now and next weekend.

I know it's hard..but just keep up the great work. Make every pound count. 8 pounds loss is better then 8 pounds gained. : )

Eight pounds is nothing to sneer at. It's a great accomplishment, keep going!

Misti in Seattle 05-12-2006 08:04 AM

Good point, Tyler! Every one of those pounds we can knock off is an accomplishment!!

I understand honey! I look in the mirror and I don't see the person that I see in family photos. When I realized how big I am I cried a river, but you are working at it and if you keep at it things will change! Any loss is a step in the right direction and you've already taken 8 of those steps. Keep it up and before you know it you will be a maintainer!

Thanks everyone!!! I've found pictures of what I used to look like, before I gained the weight, so I know what my goal "looks like"! So it cheers me up some...it just feels like it will take forever to get there! I haven't lost anything since March, and getting really frustrated even though I've upped my calories (to 1500 and exercise! GRRRRR! Come on pounds...drop already!!!

nicolbw 05-12-2006 11:01 AM

Amanda, I'm right there with you. I have been on a 9 week long plateau. It's frustrating. What I'm trying is to do some calorie cyling and getting back into the habit of exercising every single day for at least 30 mins or more. I don't know if it will work, since nothing else I've tried has worked, but it's worth a shot.

I hope you can find what works for you. Just keep working out and eating healthy and that's all you really have control over. At least then you'll know you are being healthy and getting in good shape.

I wish you all the luck.
