I just posted about this today. I am 5'5 and 161 lbs. I am busty with wide hips. I am currently wearing 14s that are getting loose, so I am thinking I am almost a 12. I wear XL or L tops, depending on the style and material (clingy or not). A few weeks ago I bought some tshirts on clearance at Target in XL. They looked really big and I was sure they would fit, so I bought them without trying them on. I tried them on at home and they are too tight! The material pulls obviously across my chest! I am keeping the shirts in the hope that I will eventually be able to wear them, but really? An XL is too tight, when I have a closet full of XLs that are all getting loose? Ugh! It frustrates me that I still wear such a large size! My goal is to get into the single digits and wear a M or S shirt size. It seems like most people with my height and measurements wear a smaller size. It's so annoying!

Hey i discovered size 10 fits me, but my thighs look very plum in that. But blouse fits me fine.

kassiebby1124 03-04-2012 09:08 PM

I..have no idea what I wear. I guess I wear 18/20's, but I'm kinda nervous about putting on the 18's until I'm back in the low 220's range because I KNEW they fit when I weighed that. I wear sweats a lot of the time. I also know that my 20's are getting too big for me, now, so I'm kinda like "hm.." I haven't been clothes shopping since November and that was when I weighed higher than I am now. All I can say is, regardless of what I am now, I'm trying to get out of it! :P
I'm also 5'4.

howellbe 03-04-2012 09:32 PM

Currently since I am back at 220ish--yes I gained a bit back :( and I am 5'5" and a half lol. I wear about a 12 on top (only if its loose in the sleeves--my arms are ridiculously huge) and about a 14/16 in jeans depending on the cut. But clothes are so different: I have a pair of Candies jeans that are size 11 and I have to wear a belt with them--there not my fave because of the size. They flatter my butt and legs and they camouflage my stomach :D

itsjustmagic 03-04-2012 10:00 PM

It's so weird, ever since I was 250 I've worn a size 2x shirt and my highest was about 347, so 100 pounds later and I was still in a size 2x shirt. I always thought that was really weird, lol.

But I'm 317 as of the 1st of March and I'm wearing a very loose 26 jeans and still my 2x shirts. I don't think I have a pair of 24 jeans, I might, I have to look, because I might be able to fit into them again. I don't like my clothes very tight and jeans can be a pain, especially after washing them, so I always go a size bigger anyway.

I am 5' 0.7" (every centimeter and inch counts for a shortie). I weigh 118.4 lb and have a medium body frame. My shirt size is a size Small and my pants are size 2. All my pants are big on me at the waist and I have to use a belt for every single pair. My thighs are relatively large so I can't fit into a size 0.

Two different people at the same height and weight can wear totally different sizes depending on their body frame and their percent of body fat. People who are leaner will, of course, wear smaller sizes. My friend and I are about the same height (she is taller by half an inch) and I weigh 10 lbs more than she does but she wears a size 6 in pants and Medium in shirts. We both had our body fat percentage measured by a professional last week. Hers is 26% and mine is 13%. While she weigh less than I do she has more fats than muscles, hence the larger pant size.

I'm 5'3", 115lbs and I can wear a 0/2 in women's 1/3 in juniors, and 14 in girl's

Generally I wear a S/M in shirts, sometimes XS.

Sorry to be nosey, I've saw you around the boards for a while; but I was just wondering what your 'ultimate' goal was? :)

omgzitsmiranda 03-04-2012 11:33 PM

I'm 5'5" - 5'6" and weigh 233.5lbs and I now wear a 20. I'm still in XXL shirts, but they're too big. I can still wear a XL like before, they're just more comfortable lol.

KittyKatFan 03-04-2012 11:41 PM

Wow, I must be very oddly shaped because some of the posters who weigh the same or less than me wear smaller sizes than me.... :(

I am 5'8" and currently 245. I am wearing 24w jeans but am close to 22w. Like others here, it depends on the manufacturer; I have a pair of 20 regular Levi's that are big on me. I have such a big lower gut area that I need larger sizes to be able to fit, which is frustrating because the clothes are baggy in the legs.

I am blessed/cursed with big boobs so I still wear big sizes on top. I barely fit into a men's 3x and a women's 4x fits loosely.

TheFinalToDo 03-04-2012 11:48 PM

I weigh 242 and at 5'5 I wear between 18/20W and 20W. Some brands are too large and some brands ... too small. I remember weighing 140 and wearing a size 11/12. cue All in the Family's "those were the days" ...

It also depends on where you hold a majority of your weight too :) I just now got out of 24's and the like, trust me. If I wasn't on a high protein diet that TORCHES inches, then I would probably still be in them. I lost 35lbs last year & I was still in the same 24's. But just losing 23.5lbs on this & I've went down to a 20, almost a 18. Just takes time <3

Fitness ;)

10lbs ago I said I was done losing weight, but obviously I have failed at maintaining  I've increased my exercise quite a bit so I guess it was expected that I would lose more even though I increased the calories I was consuming.

Even though I weigh every day still I'm not really concerned about what the scale says any more. I wouldn't even mind packing on a few pounds of muscle, but I need to start eating even more to do that.

I like weight training so I'm really focused on lifting more and trying to get to my goal of lifting 75% of my body weight. Right now I can lift around 60% :)

xJox 03-05-2012 01:38 PM

I'm 301 lbs and 5'8. I wear a 24 in jeans and 3x in tshirt.

Sum38 03-05-2012 01:49 PM

5'3.5" 148 pounds

Pretty solid 10. 12's are definitely too big now, but 8's still give a slight muffin top.

Micki k 03-05-2012 01:57 PM

5'3" and 216lbs. I wear an 18 or xl top and a 20 bottom. For now!

Edited to add: not sure if this has already been posted, but if you want to compare you body type, clothing size, height and weight check out a website called mybodygallery. It really is interesting to see how different others are even at the same height and weight as you.

PrincessSophia 03-05-2012 02:08 PM

I am 5'2" and 144 pounds. Yep, 12 is too big, 10 is big too but not all brands. 8's seems to fit better but I am not sure about size 6 (haven't tried yet)

LisaTcan 03-05-2012 03:38 PM

I'm 5'6 and weight 135..I wear size 6 or 8 in pants and dresses and M in shirts.
My body fat % is high though...29% so I'm not small. I'm working on getting that down so I can fit into a size 4.

lm3898 03-05-2012 04:01 PM

I am 5'7", approx. 180 lbs, size 10 or M in tops. Mostly a 12 in bottoms/skirts b/c a 10 is too short. Overall, sometimes M or 10, but still sometimes L depending. My body is a little strange, I have really athletic legs/calves, but I abhore my stomach...oh well.

The strange thing is that my weight hasn't really changed all that much from when I started dieting - I was too nervous to get on the scale at the beginning of this whole thing but I guestimate I've lost a total of about 20 lbs - despite going down more than 6 individual sizes [size 16 to a 12/10] - that's why I never weigh myself - the number is too depressing when it doesn't move, despite my seeing changes.

Gabe 03-05-2012 05:55 PM

I'm 5'7"/228 currently and I've been buying 16s at Old Navy, Lane Bryant, and Fashion Bug. 1X in tops. Sometimes 2X if it's something like a blazer, because I like those bigger.

Now, that's what I buy new. However, I've gone down to this from a tight 28 a little over a year ago. What I wear day-to-day is a mix of sizes. The jeans I have on are 26s, but they're a hair's breadth from literally falling off. I have jeans in regular rotation from 26 through 16, though the 16s and the 18s are the only ones that don't look clown-ish. I have a pair of 14s as my motivational jeans.

BananaMontana 03-05-2012 06:39 PM

I'm 5'5" and about 190 pounds right now. I usually wear a size 16 pant, but I do have a pair of 14s that fit nice. I'm usually a large in tops, though I have a couple mediums that fit.

InsideMe 03-05-2012 06:47 PM

You can't go by weight girls! It all depends on how much lean muscle you have, how large your frame is and how much body fat you have. With that in mind, take the stats you read here with a grain of salt, everyone is made differently!!!

I'm 190lbs, 5ft3 and in a size 10 and med-large shirt.

Natasha22 03-05-2012 07:06 PM

I weigh around 140-143 pounds, my height is 5'3" and a half. My clothes size varies so much from one store to another, I can't even risk shopping online. Weight does not matter as much as body shape, for instance I have a size 14 shirt, but my best friend who weights roughly the same as me got the same shirt in a size 10. That's because the upper side of my body is quite big while my legs are really skinny, my friend is exactly the opposite: small waist and big hips. But to answer the question I usually reach for a size 12 and then try it on, if it doesn't fit properly I look for a different size but I guess the majority of my clothes are a 12.

baker23 03-05-2012 08:28 PM

Insideme- I wish I had your size at my 190 weight xD

6'0 and 184 pounds. I wear a size 12 in misses and a Large shirt. Usually wear a 10 in dresses tho, or 13 in junior dresses

Tiffintn 03-05-2012 08:36 PM

i have a hard time sayinga certain size too ..it depends on where you buy it

Kelseyj325 03-06-2012 12:52 AM

I'm 5'2 and currently 245lbs. I wear a size 17 on a good day, though its a little tight, but i can't wear the mossimo 17's from target. I wear a XL/1X depending on the store and the cut.

Aunrio 03-06-2012 07:56 AM

5" 5.75 and 145 lbs. I wear a 6 in pants, 10 in dresses, and medium in shirts and active wear. At start weight I was in 12/14 and dropped to a 10 at 175 lbs and 8 at 165. The ten pounds per size rule stopped for me as my hips are just muscle and bone and I don't plan to give up the muscle.

summerlove 03-06-2012 08:56 AM

5"10, 174, and a size 10 in pants and dresses...and a medium in tops.
