Scale Issues

Ok...so I decided to buy a new scale today. One that will read .5 pounds too. But when I got on the new one it says 5 pounds more. Now I know that I should still count pounds lost...but does that mean I should make my starting weight more or just make my loss less? Kinda depressing but I know this new scale is more accerate. Hmmm?

Jtjoray - I hear yah on the depressing thing! I had a scale that was up 20 pounds, I nearly cried.

I tend to just keep a tally of how much I've lost.. but I think many people adjust their starting weight up. That seems pretty sensible to me. You've done a great job... don't let those 5 pounds get you down, you are rocking this weight loss thing!!! :)

I would agree on adjusting your starting weight up... I know that sounds depressing, but you've already lost 44 pounds no matter where the starting point was, and that is an amazing achievement in itself!

I had an old scale that I was using and when I got my new one it was higher. I just weighed a dumbell on them both and the new one was accurate so I went with it. It's kind of a blow, but like they said you've still lost a good amount of weight!! :)

hehe. MIne reads the decimals too.

Yeah..I think that's what I'll have to do then. Im going to weigh in tomorrow and adjust my starting weigiht. : ( oh well. Im still proud of myself for the 44 pound loss. Thanks everyone!

Jtjoray, The same thing happened to me and I did cry. I had an old dial scale and when I really got serious about losing I went and bought a digital scale with .5lb also. I weighed 10 lbs more on the new scale. I just upped my starting weight to 10 lbs heavier because I know the digital scales are more accurate than the dial scale I had. :df:

I have a digital scale and it is wrong by three pounds. So I am actually three pounds less than what my scale says.
I didn't realize this until I went to the doctor. I didn't change it only cause I like knowing that I am lighter than what the scale says..:D ;)
Jtjoray I would try to weigh something that you are sure of just to make sure your new scale IS accurate.:?:

Ok...so it's only a 3 pound difference I checked it out today on my weight in. So Im not as upset. But on a good note I lost another 2 pounds this week so far.

I always hate my doctor's scales. I weigh first thing of the morning, after peeing and without clothes. At Dr.'s office, I have usually always eaten (it's 4 hours from my home), it's an afternoon appt. , I have all my clothes and shoes on. His scales always weigh me about 4 lbs. heavier. I just keep in mind what my scales say because they are the ones I've been using the whole time since I started this life change.
