I am freaking out! Help!
hey girls- I am so disappointed this morning.
I got on the scale, and it showed a 2 pound GAIN! I'm freaking out. So this is what I've been doing- maybe y'all can help me figure out what's going on. I just finished my TOM 2 days ago. Last week, I went off my plan, eating higher calories because I was starving all week (TOM)- I went off my plan for 4 days. On Monday I weighed myself and it said 178. Today it said 180- so I'm wondering if my time off the plan is just now catching up with me. Also, I started BACK on my plan on Monday- I have excercised twice this week for a total of 1 1/2 hours (working on this). I have been drinking tons of water- usually 48 ounces per day. So far this week, I have been eating great, between 1100-1500 every day- my deficit for this week so far is 2558, not including excercise, and I still have today-sunday to go. I don't know what to do- I have been working soooo hard this week, and I've been proud of myself- I guess I expected to see a drop today, and when I saw a gain, I got upset. I only weigh once-twice per week, in the morning. Here's a look at my typical daily menu- yesterday for example: B- high protein slim fast, graham crackers S- cheese sandwhich, almonds L- 1/2 chicken sandwhich, ice cream cone D- bbq chicken on wheat bun, with cheese crackers S- ice cream bar Total calories- 1470 Looks like I'm not eating very healthy huh? Quality, as you all are saying.... I guess I just need some encouragement to keep going. If you're still reading this, thanks :) |
Yep scales are screwy!
Also, try to cut down on the ice cream and crackers - sodium in them can cause a weight gain. And try and eat more fruit and veg - but you already knew that right? You can do it, I know it's hard, but it's going to be SOOOOOOOOO worth it :D  Keep it up and don't let the scales worry you too much ;) |
Hey Judes.. Don't worry about those 2 pounds, they could be fluid (is it almost that time of the month?) or (sorry for being gross) if you haven't had regular BM, and I could see your diet isnt quiet fiber-rich, you could put those 2 on. Just give it sometime.. You could also check your measurements, since sometimes you see a difference in those when the scales won't nudge!
The most important thing is not to give up, you could use this as a motivation to work harder.. Don't regret those 4 days, but you might want to adjust your eating plan so that you don't feel deprived or starved.. Hang in there girl!! |
okay, I think I figured it out. I have been eating way too many processed foods- from ice cream to crackers to slim fast and lean cuisine. I think I need to "eat clean" like I hear everyone saying- more fiber, fruits and veggies... think that will help? Anyone have any tips on eating "clean?"

That, and I would say up your water intake. People are always recommending that you drink half your body weight in oz of water, so for you that would be almost 90 oz a day. More water would help flush out all that sodium too. :)

I was going to also say cut out the processed foods.. SlimFast.. is not breakfast, AND you wont Slim Fast. Never trust the diet industry. A good rule of thumb is if it advertises, that you will lose a significant amount of weight just by useing their product be leery. Also, 48oz of water.. isnt enough. At first you are going to feel like if you drink anymore water you may drown however, its something we have to do. Dont feel bad because a suck at drinking my 80ozs a day. Makes me want to lose weight more, so I can drink less. I always feel as though I am floating! lol I eat as clean as possible without driving myself coo-coo. I dont want it to feel like a chore. Its definitely worth it, and you will feel so much better, lighter, and energized.

I got so exasperated with the fluxuations in my scale that I bought one of those mechanical beam physcian's scales. It works great and is accurate to 1/4 of a pound. I can always correlate gains to real world events now, whereas before an awful lot depended on WHERE I stood on the weighing platform. Moving forward an inch could change my weight by 2-3 lbs.
