Where did my body go?
I am only 22, so I know my shape changes aren't age related. But I measured myself today. You see I used to be a perfect hourglass. Bust and hips the same, waist 12 inches smaller. It was always proportionate. And then as I gained some more weight a couple of years ago I noticed my waist was only ten inches smaller.
Today my hips and bust are 52 inches. And my waist is 46 inches. These numbers sort of surpised me. I also noticed that where before I would just have an arm I now have this hanging pouch of flab. And my face is fatter now too, so I've noticed that to me my facial features seem less defined. I don't have a face shape, I have a fat face. As I lose weight will my body go back to the way it used to be? If not, what sort of changes should I expect? |
My waist definitely became smaller in proportion to my hips/chest as I lost weight. When I started, my waist was 37 and my hips were 44 (difference of 7 inches). Now my waist is 27 and my hips are 36 (difference of 9 inches).

I swear my waist was bigger than my chest when I started this whole thing... but now am finally starting to see it! Currently I think my waist and chest are close to the same size, but my waist/hip proportion is decreasing. I don't really know my thin shape, but am starting to suspect I might have an hourglass figure! I am definitely losing weight in my waist faster than everywhere else...

Generally you will take off weight in the reverse order that you put it on. I'm an hourglass figure too, and my waist is the last place I gain, so it came off there first as I was losing.
Your body may not be exactly the same as it was before, but generally your body shape will be the same. :) |
Interesting... I gain in my boobs like crazy and they are huge; but fortunately that is the first place I lose it. But perhaps that is because except for my stomach the rest of me is not fat... it is strange but I have been told that is typical for hypothyoid patients. My legs and thighs are thin and my butt is almost non-existent when I lose the weight. So maybe there is not so much to lose there is why it goes off the top first.

First thing to go on me when I started losing weight was my boobs :( Also my face got thin quickly dont know if this is true for anyone else.... only thing left to lose is my stomach. Ive noticed once you start to lose the weight that stretch marks you didnt have like yesterday show up.

My waist and the area around my ribs was the first to go and now I am seeing my legs begin to take a different shape...thank god after all that walking. Im sure my butt and thighs will hang on until the cows come home..but suprisingly and much to my husbands delight I havent really lost ANY of my DD boobs?

When I was younger and would lose weight it always came off my waist and boobs first. This time at 46 yrs. old it came off my hips and legs first. (still have a fat belly, with only 14lbs. to goal). I know that my exercise has been mostly walking, but sure wish I could lose in tummy. I have wondered if the reason I am having so much trouble losing belly fat might be due to the large abdominal hernia repair surgery I had last summer. I know I have a lot of staples in abdomen and mesh. Does anyone know if this would make a difference. I probably don't make sense right now, I feel water-logged. I do still have my DD boobs, they haven't went down any. ( except lost from 49" around to 38".

I don't know how hernia surgery would affect you, but I know that when I had a laproscropy before it took months for me to fully heal from that- and it was just a couple of tiny incisions! So it could be that that has affected you or the way your abs are affected. Have you tried working the abs and back or gone to phsycial therapy?
I would be happy to see my boobs get smaller. I am wearing a DDD right now and it is hard to find decent bras and so forth- Lane Bryant is the only place I can shop. But I suspect I will always have large boobs. I was wearing a D cup in the eight grade, for instance. I remember back then I was terrified they would never stop growing and I would have to wheel them around in a wheelbarrow. :) I noticed stretch marks before too. At first I thought it might be some sort of infection, but nope. Just plain old stretch marks. And I remember back when my belly started to really expand on its own, after I got above 240. My fiance noticed it and asked if I had gained weight. I said yes, I had, and he said ok and just kissed my big fat belly. I knew he was a keeper then. |
