Too many calories?

I've just recently jumped back on the bandwagon and am starting a little differently this time. I am exercising about 5-6 days a week and burning an estimated(what the elliptical tells me) amount of 400-460 calories per day. I am consuming about 1500-1600 calories per day, give or take a few. Does this sound like I am eating too many calories in anyones opinion? Thank you!

Not at all. Are you losing?

That sounds like a perfect amount. If you ever hit a platue... you'll be able to decrease your calorie intake without the possibility of harming your health.

That sounds good to me.
The last 3 weeks I have been trying to stay right around 1500. Somedays its a little more, some days its a little less. I also am exercising 5 days a week.
I think that if you are losing its a good fit and then if you find that you hit a plateau then you can either lower your calories or increase you activity.
Good Luck!

Well I have just started this plan this past week so I will not know until next week if I have actually lost anything. The past month I have not been on my diet so I am back in full swing now! Thank you everyone!

I think you are fine but i would try and push yourself a little harder to eat less calories, maybe even if you just change one thing it helps. Good luck!!

You might want to look at the quality of your calories as well...1500 cals can really range depending on whether they are made up of fruits and veggies, whole grains blah blah blah versus one supersize meal at mcdonals. obviously I am exaggerating but you know what I mean. You can get a LOT of food for 1500 cals if you make smart choices. Good luck on your plan, I think you'll start noticing changes soon. Also, are you doing any weight training? Really helps with re-shaping your body. Just a thought!

It sounds good to me. Thats about how many calories I have a day and I've been loosing!

Good Luck!

No. Fifteen to sixteen hundred calories is perfectly reasonable. It's my own pet belief that cutting calories severly is about the #1 cause of diet burnout. The typical 1200 calories a day puts you at risk for starvation mode if you're active. It's really the bottom of the healthy range.

Sounds like a good plan to me, and just like lizz said (miss runner babe!) make sure you eat plenty of fruit and veg and wholegrains and hardly any processed junk! ;)

I've been using nutridiary online and that has helped with the calories and how many I should be using...it also has a thing where you can pick your activity and it'll tell you how many cals you've burned. It's not gospel, but I figure that as long as we are watching it, then we're okay...yesterday I ate crappy food and mad really bad use of my calories, so I'm not feeling great today ( damn gummy bear things), but hey, it's all a learning process.

I eat about 1300-1500 depending on how much exersize I'm doing... and somedays I just mess up and eat too much.

I've found calorie counting to be a lot easier than I thought it would be and pretty effective. Seeing that number on the package really does it for me
