I used to love eating out. Going for breakfast was the highlight of a night of drinking. It was the best way to gather socially with friends.
Now...I just get frustrated because very few resturaunts have low-fat options, much less reasonably sized entrees. When I went to Tony Roma's, I asked them to box half my entree up for me before they brought it to the table...just so it wouldn't end up going bad while I ate...and they told me they couldn't, because it was 'too confusing for the kitchen.' Why would I even bother to go to a resturaunt and buy a $5 garden salad with a dressing that might be low-fat but still loaded with sugar, when I could stay at home and have my salad made exactly the way I like it...loaded with veggies, with some fish on top, and olive oil and red wine vinegar. Soooo much more satisfying (and cheaper)!
And going to movies...grrr. One time, I was really craving popcorn, so I ordered a small with no butter. Not that that really helped, I know, with the oil popping methods they use. It was HUGE! I didn't even eat a quarter of it, and I knew I was pushing my calorie-count...especially for a simple snack, and not even a meal. From now on, I'll stay at home with a rental and air pop my own popcorn. Again, cheaper and healthier!
I guess all I'm saying is that if I could find somewhere that was especially geared toward those of us who are interested in living healthier lives, I would be glad to pay to go there. I still enjoy meeting friends for food, I just can't seem to afford to these days, calorie-wise.
I'm proud of myself, though. I drank like 4 glasses of water and had a bite of each fattening thing. There was a lot of food in front of me, but I still managed to control myself and come out of it no worse for wear.
