Applebees....weight watcher menu - pretty danged good.
Fresh choice - if you fill up on salad and take it easy in the bread section.
I do the salad thing, too. Dressing on the side or I bring my own. Grilled fish or chicken on top..:T
Cafe Panera - you can get half a sandwich and half a salad.
Spagetti Factory - Baked Greek Chicken ....holey moley!

Why would I even bother to go to a resturaunt and buy a $5 garden salad with a dressing that might be low-fat but still loaded with sugar, when I could stay at home and have my salad made exactly the way I like it...loaded with veggies, with some fish on top, and olive oil and red wine vinegar. Soooo much more satisfying (and cheaper)!

I know exactly how you feel! I hate resturants now and I use to live to eat out. First of all, I use to think the food was theirs and prepared there. Well, maybe at a mom and pop place but at any chain, it's probably from Sysco foods and you know what that means! Processed, processed, processed! I have made all sorts of requests at places and the waitresses all said they couldn't do that because the food is prepared with the ingredients already in them. That means, it is glorified fast food/frozen dinners. Secondly, I looked up their calories on calorieking.com and WOW! In one meal, I consumed 3000 calories, 100 grams of fat and didn't even know it. I mean, it sure didn't seem that fattening! It wasn't even that filling! If I eat out, I check out calorieking.com first and make the best choice. The healthy items they have on their "Light" menu usually taste like crap, too. We live in a city that is becoming all chains and weeding out the mom and pop places but we try those when possible and they usually prepare it any way that I ask.

I know what you mean! We have this friend that owns his own restaurant/pub. His food is wonderful and the place is always crowded :hungry: .

His portions are huge and I asked him why you couldn't order smaller portions. I told him that he could serve 1/2 portions at half the price and he told me that "he would not make as much money" (as he laughed).

Restaurant arn't there for our health, their there for our money. Even though we can only eat about 1/3 of what they serve, they still get our money.

We eat at home alot these days :smug: .
