I'm new, started 6 days ago and have lost 7 pounds........loving it! Are Pickles and marinated peppers ( porcini) alowed?

Well, I don't know what plan you follow, so that would make a big difference.

I calorie count, and try to be healthy, so I can eat whatever I want, but have to pay close attention to portion control.

Exactly what I was thinking! Yes, pickles are allowed, as in they are legal, but whether or not they fit into your plan depends on, well, your plan! ;)

Why wouldn't pickles or peppers be okay? They are sour (which can reduce sugar craving), low calorie and just vegetables.

This is just me - but when I was losing weight, there was absolutely no limit to the vegetables/fruit I wanted. If I wanted a whole bag of sugar snap peas, I ate a whole bag of sugar snap peas. I didn't deny myself anything healthy, if the food were nutritionally powerful and good for me, it was on the "definitely okay" list.

I don't think anyone ever said "wow, I'm overweight because I ate all those PICKLES." I knew I was overweight because I started every morning with nearly 800 calories of huge lattes with whipped cream and a big old 38 gram of fat muffin, then I had pizza for lunch and M&Ms or yogurt pretzels out of the snack machine and another latte with a danish or coffee cake, then stopped for taco bell on the way home and polished off a huge bowl of godiva dark chocolate ice cream in front of the TV every night.

The only thing I would watch is the sodium content. If you eat alot of them, the salt might cause you to retain water. But other than that, enjoy. They make a nice addition to a salad.

I thought pickles were a "free" food in almost all diet plans...no?
