Help!
I dont get it...all last week I ate well and exercised for an HOUR every night...not just little exercise either...like the cross trainer and treadmill and bike...so tell me WHY I GAINED five lbs!! I dont understand...Is it because of gaining more muscle?? I am just very confused.:?:

There's lots of reasons why it seems like you've gained five pounds. Rest assured that you have not gained 5 lbs of fat!
When is your period? Do you eat a lot of salt or processed foods? When and how did you weigh yourself? There's lots of options here and we can help you. |
Hmm...is it getting close to that time of the month for you? Have you eaten foods with a lot of sodium? It is entirely possible that you're losing the fat, but gaining the muscle.

It's probably muscle and water. When you train hard your muscles are sore because they are injured (that's okay, it's part of the process). In that injury state they hold water. I've gone up 3-4 lbs after a hard leg workout. YIKES! The last time I lost weight (learn from my example) I saw zero results for over two weeks. In fact, like you I gained before I lost. Then I lost like five lbs in one week and steadily lost for months afterward. So don't be discouraged. I always tell anybody starting to not even WORRY about what the scale says for two weeks at least. Your body adjusting to good food and exersize can do some very strange things.

It is close to the time I should be getting my period...I dont really eat a lot of salty foods. Thanks for all the advice though!! I weighed myself first thing in the morning after I went to the bathroom and I only weigh in in my underwear and bra. :) I have received a comment that my face looks slimmer and my pants and underwear are actually fitting too big right now. So its very weird :)

Hey Misty
I have a cousin that's a personal trainer. when i started to work out with him (a LONG time ago lol) he warned me that after a particulary active week, day etc I might notice *temporary* weight gain. When your muscles are building they often retain extra water (so he told me). You will lose it if you keep working through it! And just keep telling yourself that it is not fat and you are doing great.... your bod is just preping itself to grow some major muscles. ;-) |
awesome! Thank you so much!!! I feel better about it! As an update...I have actually begun to lose some of my waist and butt! lol ;) Thanks so much for the support!
