Itching while walking? HELP!

Does anyone have this problem? When I walk, after about a mile, I get the itches really bad..on my legs and thighs? It's so strange. It's like I can't stop itching! I wear loose fitting (not 'too' loose) cotton pants and they are breathable..?

A friend of mine said that it's because my blood is circulating and it's actually a good thing?

It's rather annoying though and it discourages me from wanting to walk anymore! Will it pass over time with the more (consistant) walking I do?

Thanks for your help! :)

 I GET THAT TOO !!!! I am not much help though because I do not know why, but I have always wondered - I always thought it was something with circulation as well ...

 Yuppers your friend is right! Is it very cold where you are walking? I get it in the cold. If it is cold you might want to put some stockings/tights (whatever you call them in the US - pantyhose!! AHAH!) under your pants. Sometimes I find that loser clothes irritate a bit more cos they rub.

Actually, it's HOT here. I live in Florida..so it gets really hot.

THanks for your replies. It's just really annoying and I hope it goes away! I can imagine what I look like, speed walking and itching along the way. :o

Also you might want to try some E45 cream (do you have it over there?) Or some mild moisturiser before you go out, that might calm your skin down a bit!

What is E45 cream? What isle would it be in?

I LOVE your quote you've got there at the bottom of your siggy

"Eat rubbish...feel rubbish" That's so true! :barf:

We have it over here, it's with the cosmetics/bath foam/moisturiser. Basically it's a none perfumed moisturiser that's good for things like dry skin. Maybe you don't get it in the US. Try some plain moisturiser or some nice body lotion that you love instead!

Yay, I'm glad I'm not the only one! I thought about posting about it last night as a matter of fact but then I decided that everyone would think I'm a weirdo! I guess I'm not (well not because of this anyway *hehe*). I thought it was maybe because my basement has some sawdust in it was stirred up. My legs do it on the exercise bike as well as the treadmill so it's not just walking that does it to me. Good to know it's normal!
Sorry I can't be any help but your post makes me happy.

I've had it happen as well, pretty sure it's circulatory -- what part of FL do you live in? I'm in the Tampa Bay area. :)

It's blood being pushed through tiny capillaries close to the skin. It will go away as you get more used to the exercise, although I find that when the weather gets colder, my body has to re-adjust, and I get itchy again.

I used to get rashes on my arms when I first started going to the gym on a regular basis...it went away after a while. Your body is trying to get used to different things..cortisone cream might help for the itchyness

That happened to me when I first started walking and using my exercise bike. Like everyone else said, it's something about circulation. It goes away after a while, though. It still happens to me if I go a while without walking or using the bike and then start again.

I am so happy to hear this happens to others-- this has been happening to me since even before I had a weight problem and had kids-- I went to the Doctor once about it and he told me to take an antihistamine before I walk-- I never did that because I was trying to get pregnant-- but if I had I probably would have just fallen asleep!
