What kind of bread do you eat?
What kind of bread do you eat and how mutch?
I eat some "black" bread, sometimes it's halgraned sometimes just colored, he he I eat a lot, with every meas I guess. What do you prefeare? |
I have no idea what black bread is. I just have reduced-calorie whole-grain bread, which I keep in the freezer because I use it so infrequently.
|
I usually try to get lower-calorie bread like Sara Lee's Delightful line. Nothing over 45 calories per slice, and I try to get as much fiber as possible. There is actually one kind with extra fiber, but I can't always find that at the store.
|
I usually get Nature's Own Carb Short whole wheat. I try to find one that is low in carbs and whole wheat. And I generally eat 1 to 2 slices a day.
|
When buying bread for myself, I always buy brown breads that are wholegrain. But I dont eat a lot of bread anymore.
|
I eat Weight Watchers bread. 90 Calories (for 2 slices), .5 Grams of Fat, and 4 grams of Fiber.
|
None.
But I do eat other carbs like sweet potatoes, oatmeal, beans, and fruit. |
I eat whole wheat or multigrain bread primarily. Some days I don't have any, but if I do I will probably have two slices.

I don't keep bread around the house. If I'm out at a restaurant and get served bread, I'll have a slice of whatever it is. But I know if I keep bread around the house I'll overload on it, so I keep it away as much as possible.
|
I eat whole wheat bread and low carb wheat bread.
|
i eat 100 % whole wheat bread
|
I don't eat a lot of bread either, I prefer to get my fiber from other sources like Mel does... I find that unless a bread states that it is ''high'' fiber on the label it doesn't have that much fiber, beans, potatoes and veggies have more fiber, IMO.... I also find that some breads must have a lot of sugar in them because I get that sugar low after eating certain breads...
|
I don't tend to have bread in the house, although I do eat it from time to time.
When I do eat bread I have it as a treat and have really nice speciality/continental bread without worrying about its nutritional content. I'd rather eat really nice bread infrequently than relatively healthy but dull bread all the time. |
We tend to pick up 100% whole wheat bread of some sort, usually with 4+ grams of fiber per slice. I enjoy the new Sara Lee line of whole grain breads, but what I really dig is Milton's. It's a little more expensive, but totally worth it.
|
Has anyone ever tried spelt or kamut bread? They're really filling because they're more dense than normal bread and are both 100% whole grain. You can find these breads at health food stores. They have lots of fiber and are very tasty ;)
I like Orowheat's health nut bread too. I usually have 1 or 2 slices a day (1 for breakfast toast and maybe one for dinner). |
I am a breadaholic so I just eat whatever we have. It's all good. I just look at the serving size and see how many calories. I definitely dont count carbs xD

I don't look at carbs, calories or fat when I pick bread. My bread criteria:
* At least 4 grams of fiber per slice, 5 preferred. * Must be some form of whole grain. I don't eat a lot of bread (never as a side for dinner anymore, I used to eat tons of bread with pasta dishes). I do like toast (especially with natural peanut butter for breakfast) and sandwiches for lunch (especially turkey with spicy mustard, spinach leaves, tomato and onion. Sometimes, when I'm stressed or late coming home from work, a turky sandwich or peanut butter toast makes a healthy/easy to make dinner option too. My current favorite is a sprouted, no-flour, 20 grain bread, but I can't remember the name of it! |
I don't either. I do Ilene's pancake instead. I mix three egg whites with 1/2 cup of oatmeal and 'fry' it in a nonstick pan. Sometimes I have two a day.
|
That sounds really interesting Susan. I don't like oatmeal (I'm a texture kinda person) but I love oatmeal cookies. Does it end up with that kind of consistency? I would expect a little flatter, for lack of a better word, but similar. Do you use instant or the cook it a lot kind? Throw in some cinnamon and it sounds quite good.
|
I'm not sure, Julia, I think it's one or three minute ... ya know ... Quaker probably. If you let it sit in the food processer for a few minutes before you cook it, it has a less oatmealy texture. But yes, it is kind of like a cookie. Cinnamon is fabulous and then you can dip it in applesauce, yummy!
I dip it in yogurt or spread cottage cheese on it .... just almost anything because it doesn't have much taste of it's own. And you can thank Ilene cuz I got the idea from her. |
We have been eating Nature's Own brand Healthline bread. 40 calories per slice, 5g fiber and 1 g fat. It has whole wheat and corn flour plus it has soy flour in it and I have to sneak that in anyway I can because I dislike almost all soy products.
|
I just usually get what ever wheat/multi grain bread is on sale for the week. I like the Aunt Millie's brand.
The healthy fiber for life type buns have I think 5 grams of fiber per bun, and if you are on WW, are only one point. |

Bad bread.... I have to have white bread for toast, nothing else is good! although brown bread toasted is okay for putting eggs or beans on....
Brown always for salad, or sarnies.... and I really like bread with grains in! :dizzy: |
TX God on Kitty! I thought that I am the only one eating bread here!
I dont think it's healty really because of the stuff they put in it to become big. It's really hard to explain when I dont speak English :) Black - I meen whole grain :) I know I should cut it back, but just cant help it now. I do notice that I eat it less then before.... |
Great question! and a lot of good answers! I don;t eat bread often anymore. I buy "Barowsky" sandwich rolls which are suggested by WW. Great size, great value and only 2 points a roll. That's my kind of Sandwich! Great for lean meat burgers as well - I do Salmon burgers, ground chicken burgers and once in awhile a top grade sirloin burger.

I love 9 grain bread made by Cobblestone Mill. I always choose a whole wheat for making simple sandwiches, though a good, dense sourdough is good for heartier sandwiches. When we have holiday dinners and serve rolls, I go for white. I've never been in a habit of eating bread with a meal, like a slice or a roll on the side, unless it's Thanksgiving or Christmas.
I love to bake my own bread. |
I looove finnish rye bread. It's dense and not very moist but very flavourful. And it's the original fiber bread at 7-10 g per 100g. wOw. Too bad they don't sell it in supermarkets here I can't understand that its the best!! I have to make it I guess. haha :smug:
|
I don't really eat much bread either but I make PB&J sandwiches for my boyfriend's lunch everyday and I buy some form of high fiber whole wheat bread. Right now we have Nature's Own Double Fiber bread...sometimes I get the Sugarfree Mrs. Baird's line. All have about 40-45 cals per slice so if I feel like bread I can have a slice.
|
no bread! now and then a whole wheat wrap
