Scorchin
Wow, you have inspired me to get my butt moving to the gym. You are doing awesome! Wow! How many days a week do you work out? What is your routine? I am sure that all of the exercise you are doing is going to help eliminate the cellulite you were talking about way back when. Take Care, FM |
hello i'm new to the site and scorchin told me i should check out april chicks.....seems like a graet group for support....can i be part of it??
|
Welcome Pixie
Goodmorning everyone. Hope your day is going well.
Hi Pixie, We are glad to have you here. It is so wonderful to have such a great support group. Just thought I would share a post I read on another site. I hope that person doesn't mind because I cant remember where I saw it to quote her. but.... - No matter what you weigh right now there is someone else somewhere who has set that weight as thier goal weight.- When I read that it made me happy. Because it really is true. Things can always be worse. And if we stop and go back to our old habbits things can get even worse then they were when we started. I keep trying to tell myself it is just a number. But I haven't got it through my head yet. Anyway..... On days like today when I need a little extra boost I have Victoria Secret set as my homepage. I am not comfortable right now with shopping although I know when I get my weight down I will shop shop shop. But I like to go shopping online and that site has a wish list area. So I pick out what I want in the size I want to be. And as I get more comfortable with my size I will maybe start to buy things off of my wish list here and there. So you all have a great morning. I'm going shopping. :coffee: Take Care, FM |

FM, you are so right about support -- no one does anything alone, really. Everybody needs a boost now and then. How's it going, Scorchin? You sure burned up those calories! Whew! Britt Leigh, congrads on your 5lb loss! That is great news! Diane! thanks for the info on Splenda. Everybody take care, 'k? |
HEY CHICKS!!!!!.................
Good morning to everyone, And welcome to Pixie Dust, happy to see you here. Just jump in with anything you want to ask or say... I'm thinking about getting one of those pedometers to help me keep track of my steps, a visual is a good thing for me. Plus Larry cut me out a path going up our big hill and Jackeddy and I are walking up there a few times a week, saw a black snake the other day<<<shiver>>> but I like having them around, (they are pretty shy),'cause all these moles on our land. I need a cat. The Victoria secret site is a great idea, If I could have a bod 1/2 as nice as some of those gals.... I do put pics on my fridge of clothes and women whose bodies look nice to me, makes me think every time I open the door. My Smoothie.... 1/2 cup of frozen Blueberries 5 frozen or fresh strawberries 1 container of ff yogurt, any flavor a good chunk @ 1/2 cup silken tofu a good splash of pulpy OJ 6 cubes of ice Blend the heck out of it. Makes 2 good size servings We drink this on the weekends when Larry is home and it fills us up and the tofu gives us protein. It stays with us as a full breakfast would. Larry will have a piece of Whole wheat toast with his. Here's a challenge....for the next week..if your plan allows... Eat a serving of some kind of fruit 4 times this week if you eat none. If you are already eating fruit...have at least one serving a day. 3-4 if possible. Also sometimes frozen is a great deal on berries if the fresh is expensive or looking a little tired. Try to get in the habit of eating a piece of fruit INSTEAD of a sugary or junky snack, this may help if you have family members around that you have to buy snacks for and you are tempted. It may also be a good influence on the family to see you munching on fruit. If you have kids. while they are watching TV, go in the kitchen and slice an apple on the plate, spread a little peanut butter on each slice and hand them the plate, then just walk away. Get some dixie cups, the bathroom paper kind and some posicle sticks, blend up some fruit and yogurt with a little sf ff pudding mix and pour into the cup and freeze with the sticks. Or ask your mom if she has one of those tupperware popsicle makers. Try and make this challenge a family project. Make it a healthy day.... Diane |
Todays weighin....1 and 1/2 pesky lbs gone.
La LA la laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! Not as much as last time but a litlle bit of stress around this week, getting used to the changes with Larry gone all week. |
GOOD MORNING APRIL CHICKS!!!
Had the chance to change my signature this morning. Notice that it looks a little "lighter" than before? :) Wow, and with drinking this water... No more killer leg cramps! It was getting to the point where the cramps would wake me up in the middle of the night. Sometimes if I even stretched "wrong" I would get a cramp in my foot. Not since I started drinking the water! (I already take two Viactiv calcium chews a day, so I know I'm getting the calcium.) This is going to be an awesome journey, ladies... thanks for taking it along with me. Have a GREAT day! Cheryl |
Thats great Cheryl, water is key to all of this, also my skin always looks better when its hydrated. Flush out those nasty toxins.
If you do get a leg cramp, try pointing your foot as hard as you can up towards your knee, sometimes this helps to stretch it out. But hopefully they will all now be gone. Gilder is beautiful. I love living in Ohio, don't you??? I'm in the southern ohio woods, lots of hills here, we have land surrounded by state forrest, no one can ever move in behind us...yeah... Diane |
Quote:
Oh, and stretching toward the knee? I know that trick, but then I would get a cramp somewhere else! Hopefully those are gone now. |
Hiya
AFTERNOON YA'LL
FM- Cool Idea on the VS thing :^: I have to exercise for atleast 30mins a day everyday doctor said so. I go to my curcuit training 3days a week(didn't go today feel bad about it), pilates, treadmill, stationairy bike, and just small lil exercises I can do, stair climbing, walking, and I also just ordered the slim in 6 videos which are very hard but do the job (borrowed them from a friend). Here is what I did yesterday. Home Training: 16mins 160cals Pilates: 20mins 100cals Treadmill: 20mins 180cals stair climbing: 6mins 60cals Cheryl- GREAT JOB ON THE Weight loss and good job on drinking more water. ;) diana- GOOD JOB ON the 1 and half lbs :) Everyone keep up the great work....... :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy: |
Hello girls!! welcome to Pixie..... ok I lost 2.5 more pounds so that leaves me with 5lbs lost since we started....yay! Boy, Heather, you are a big motivator for exercising!!! after everything you have been through and you can burn all those calories a day!! congrats to everyone on weight loss..... FM glad to see you, started to wonder.....the idea about victoria secret.....I have my own variation, I have Marilyn Monroe all over my house and thats my motivation, she was so beautiful, but not as skinny and sickly looking as starlets and models today. she still had curves and thats how I want to be. If not this halloween then next I will hopefully where a costume of her and look good!!!! And with all of you guys for support I know I can do it!!! (it sounds silly, but I love halloween and dressing up for parties :) ) Diane I think I will try out that smoothy, its sounds yummy and I love smoothies!!! talk to you all soon
|
Everyone Should Celebrate
Congratulations to everyone!!! It seems like we are all doing so well. Or as Diane put it "Everyone is kicking ***!!!!!!!!!!!!" Yes we are kicking ***.
Jamie- Congratulations on your 5 pounds gone forever. That is great. I agree with you Marilyn Monroe is beautiful. And most men that I talk to say they prefer her body type to these half starved "little girls" as my hubby says. I am also a big halloween fan. I think you will definately be turning heads as Marilyn. Heather- You really are an inspiration for exercise. You are definately going to be firmer by the end of this month. Good luck with your drs appt. tomorrow. It is tomorrow right? Anyway, if it is good luck I hope it goes well. I will be thinking of you. Cheryl- How exciting! a new addition to your signature line. Congratulations. I am still working on the more water. I don't know why I am so resistant to it. But I'm glad you are getting your water in. And Gilder is beautiful. Hi Diane- 1.5 down 1.5 less to go. Yay!!!! It is so hard to lose weight during any major transition so you must just be doing awesome. April- You sound very happy. I hope things are going well for you. Congratulations on getting rid of the soda. It must have been a hard week on you with the caffeine and sugar withdrawal. But now that you did it I bet you feel pretty good. Well, I hope everyone else is doing well. Take Care FM |
hey gals, It looks like everyone's having so much success, its wonderful! My little goofy scale gave me such a thrill this morning, too bad it was obviously messed up!!! ( It said I was 9 lbs lighter since yesterday....lol...) It was nice to see, but it wasn't reality...too bad. The reality is I was 2 lbs heavier ( or is this too a mistake???...time for a new scale I think) But I am pretty sure its the PMS water gain thing ( or could be the hotdog I ate last night, seems like I always retain water the day after a hotdog) I am getting ALOT of extra water in today, but it hasn't been leaving my body as quickly as it normally would...frustrating.
I got in some great exercise this morning, and I am really tired from it. We dug out a plot for a garden. It was a little more demanding a project than we anticipated, and its not done yet, but I was smiling the whole time, thinking of those fresh tomatoes, and zucchinis in my future! Anyways, its been a good day here, I'm glad to see everybody else is doing good too! Lisa |
hi everyone
congrats to all :bravo: sounds like we are all on the right track i weigh in tomorrow and am so close to NOT using the 200 marker on the scale :) . if not this week then next week for sure :smug: . it is a struggle but going good so far. i was eating when it was time (buzzer goes off at work...eat ....or hubby wants lunch i would eat too, even tho i was not hungry yet) now i am waiting till i am trully hungry and i am eating healthy... bran cereal, banana, skim milk instead of biscuts and gravy or eggs, home fries, bacon, and toast. for lunch i will have lite turkey sandwich , yogert, fruit or cottage cheese, fruit, and pretzels instead of buger and fries. you get the picture. anyway i am not hungry at all and am keeping it to around 1200 to 1350 calories. so far i am losing this way :cp: if it stops working then i will need to figure out something else. not too much of an exerciser yet :nono: . i try to walk some but am on my feet at work all day and dont really like to walk once my butt hits the recliner . but if that is what it takes then i will do it.
hope everyone else keeps up the good work Talk to you LIGHTER!!! Peg |
Heather I want to come hang out with you and work out!!
Cheryl...Larry was working in dayton today, over by Best Buy, theres some parking lot they are paving. He's from Springfield, I moved up here from NC to be with him and we stayed there for 2 and 1/2 years before moving down here, he goes up there and lives during the week for work. Jamie..thats 5 lbs for me too...wooo hooo Larry says the same thing about women wanting to get too skinny he always says Marilyn had it about right, nice and healthy and sexy. Fm- I am so happy your having some regular time here with us now. April...VERY proud of you,you sound totally different than when we first talked, that phospherous in the soda is **** on your bones also so thats another benefit in giving them up. Lisa...I'm getting a new scale this one is EVIL it plays tricks on me too, Larry will get me a nice one for my BD. When TOM is here for a visit I usually gain 3-5 lbs, but after they go away...well most of the time they did, sometimes they decided to stay. Gardening is such good exercise and then after you get the other benefits. NOTHING like homegrown veggies. Hang in there CHICKS, make it the best day you can, Diane |
Hiya Peg...
your post got on while I was still typing my last one. Sounds like your doing great, eating good and healthy. I know how it is being on your feet all day, but as you get a little lighter it will get easier. As far as the exercise how about some light free weights?? Good for upper body and stregnth training so as you lose it won't be muscle mass. And speaking of pretzels...I had some sourdough nuggets the other night with some good mustard..I had forgotten how much I liked them. keep up that good work you're doing. Diane |
You know, since a couple of you have mentioned caffeine withdrawal, I wonder if this headache I've had for the last couple of days isn't that? I usually have a cup (or two) of coffee at night (I can drink coffee and go right to bed), but I've been having 2 - 3 sodas during the day (Diet Mtn Dew). I quit that cold turkey yesterday. Hmmm... Does anyone know how long that lasts?
You guys are great! Just knowing I have some place where I can come and kick back... it's just great! |
OH CHERYL...
I'm right there with you...I love coffee and when you metioned a sinus headache in your other post I told larry when he called that you lived up there and you and I were both suffering from a headache today... I just chalked it up to these blasted sinuses also... I took some Ibuprophin earlier and its barely touched it. I haven't had coffee in 2 days the week before i was down to just 1 cup a day but that could be it. Maybe tomorrow it will be gone, you let me know, and I'll do the same. Once this is over I will have it with my sunday free meal thats it. I will make it a treat instead of a habit. Sniff...I'll miss it for awhile, but I've heard some crappy things about decaf. Diane |
I Love Us Chicks!!!!!

Hey gals,
hippiechic responded to my post called *talk about motivation* and invited me to stop in... I am looking for some support as I restart (for the hundreth time!) my weight loss program. I am going to be 27 in a couple weeks and I have gained almost 90lbs in almost 2 years. I remember my 25th birthday when I was a svelte 180 (after having lost about 40lbs) and in a snug but comfy size 12...well I packed it on again and yesterday I started my journey again. I really don't excersise much (which I know is key) but I just filled out paperwork to get a reduced membership at the YMCA (we have a great one here) and I was planning on counting calories and doing moderate excersise either at home or with walking until it comes through. I have been eating between 1200 and 1300 calories which has always worked great for me in losing weight. My biggest problem is lack of motivation and MAINTAINING. I always seem to regain it, and I look back on the past and realize that part of it probably has to do with the fact that I didn't have a good support system... I mean, I have my hubby, and Mom, and friends who support me, but they get bored after a while of hearing about it and I need CONSTANT support when I am losing...so I hope at one time or another there will always be someone here to support me in my loss. So can I join ya? Thanks! Tara SW=267--5/11/04 CW=267 (just started) GW=140 mini goal=250 PS. Sorry, the last couple of sentences sounded a tad selfish! It goes without saying that I would also offer support, encouragement, and motivation to all of you who want it or need it too! :dizzy: |
Hi Tara!! glad you made it in...... All I can say is I am doing the same program as you, I have reduced my calories down to 1200-1400, and am exercising moderately to start..... if you need support you came to the right place, I have never met a more supportive group of ladies in my life!!!! (Love you guys!!! :D ) I dont think I ever said anything about myself come to think of it..... I am 23, I work part time and I go to school, I have a wonderful boyfriend who I live with, we've been together over three years. No kids, maybe someday..... just a little info..... But if you need constant and long term support..... ;) you came to the right place....believe me, I am in this for the looooong haul and so are a lot of these other girlies!!! talk to you all soon!!!

Wow, a lot happened in her this evening
Hi Jamie, love your signature line.

Heather, Have a safe trip. I hope your lab work comes out looking great. You have worked so hard to follow all of your doctors orders. Talk to you when you return. Diane and Cheryl, I am a caffeine aholic. I work nights so thats my excuse. That and I live off of 5-6 hrs of sleep regularly. Anyway.... Last time I quit caffeine I had the worst headache, and was moody and cranky for almost a week. It was rough. And the only thing that helped my headache seemed to be sleep and a lot of water. And mountain dew is pretty high in caffeine so you may miss it. But I think after a week you will probably feel so much better. Peg, Good luck tomorrow with your weigh in. You have done so great already. Wow, under 200 that will be sooo exciting. I will check in tomorrow if I can. You will hopefully post in the success section a thread with your news when you get there. Lisa, Run your scale over if it is bad to you. Who invented these things anyway? Hope you are enjoying your garden. Sounds like good exercise. Diane, I love your saying about burning a cake. But I thought maybe if I wanted to burn a few pounds I should set my scale on fire. Just a thought :D |
Just starting diet..need support
I just started a new diet this week (Monday, isn't that the traditional day to start???). It was given to me by my doctor. I don't really know what "name brand" diet it is, it seems like the food portion is a rip off of the 6 week total body makeover diet. Here it is Thursday and I have lost 5 1/2 pounds. I know it is just water weight, but I am happy nevertheless. I have searched for support and hopefully, I have found a forum here. My husband is wishy washy in his support. He does not have a weight problem and is really hard on me at times and it is hurtful. I think he is ashamed of me although I am only about 20-25 lbs overweight. I need friends and support, help me.
thanks for listening, just that helps. |
Good Morning CHICKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So happy to see some new losers here. We are a good group and it really seems that the people here are committed to getting healthy. Thats a good way to look at this..get rid of the "d" word and just get healthy, there are alot of fad ways to go about this but really if you think about it, the healthy stuff was put here for us. I look at food as a gift, and when you look at the good natural stuff it was made to tempt you into eating it. Would you eat...a rock?? A...piece of bark??? A...beautiful purple plum??? The way food looks, smells, tastes and feels is what tempts us, and if you are into getting healthy , you will learn to appreciate using your senses to choose what to eat, not excuses, in the past we've all used them: too busy, too tired, not enough money, too hot out,anger,sadness,internalization,depression..the list goes on. Focus on your health, not the number on the scale. Make it your number 1 goal for each day...healthy choices. If you make the changes on the inside...the outside will follow. Also about S.others making comments.... Only YOU can make the choice of how you will react to the influences in your life. Amazingly, when you start to focus on the positive and let the negative go,most others who are close to you will pick up on it and join you in the positive. And for those who don't...well that really is their problem. Sometimes they try to keep YOU down because of their own fears. I lived that way for 15 years, with a smartass who said all the classic crappy things to me..until I lost 165 lbs(HIM). There were other things involved(alcohol + drugs) but the hurtful things he said kept me in the hole with him..until I made the decision not to take them to heart any longer. Also if you are just joining us when you have time please try to go back and read all the posts in this and the last thread...there are some amazing people here, and alot of inspiration. Tara- we are about the same weight now...man, I know how hard it is to stay motivated, when you weigh this much you really notice what you "can't do", lets stay focused on what we "can", getting out and walking has been a life saver for me, my dog,Jackeddy, keeps me going. Also when you lose and don't exersize you lose water weight along with lean muscle mass, when you regain that weight you gain back all fat, which makes you even weaker that before, thus setting you up for all kinds of problems, back, bones etc. Try to do some light weight lifting. Will start a new #3 thread later today... Love ya Chicks, Diane |
Hihi to our new April Chickies, NancyDrew (the detective?) and Tara! there's LOTS of support to be found here at 3fatchicks.com. Lots of help to each other in every way.
Hey, Tara? About maintainence, there have been a couple of really good posts about that issue: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40544 and http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40566 You might want to check them out, if you haven't already. Nancy Drew? Congrads on your wieght loss!! 5 1/2 lbs. is a great start! |

Oh, Diane!! |
Happy to find 3chicks
Yes, Quinn  , Nancy Drew the detective. I read the books as a girl - pretended that I was her. My husband dubbed me Nancy Drew early in our relationship b/c he can't get away with anything. I will find out somehow.
My highest weight has been 202 :moo: , a few months ago. When I started my diet Monday I was at 195.5, I am now at 190. My goal is to be at 165. I have never been this heavy in all my life. I played college basketball, for goodness sake! I should know better than to allow myself to get this big. I just got lazy over the years and I used my bum knee as an excuse....but no more! I am not going to buy anymore big clothes....... I will do what it takes to get back into my 12's and stay there! :strong: |
Thanks for all your support and words of kindness ladies!
I know, I know, I have to excersise, I am doing some moderate walking and yoga, which is a start... I can't wait til my YMCA membeship goes through because they have such a wonderful facility in my city and I'll be able to do some weight training and more cardio... I am hoping to lose a few pounds before I get into a vigorous excersise routine because I think it will be easier on my system... I don't weigh in til next tuesday or wednesday because I don't have a scale (thank God) and I think it will be easier for me not to be constantly weighing myself every day! Well, I woke up way late today and only had my breakfast around 12---a cup of cereal with soy milk and a glass of fresh orange juice---.....I am a big night eater, so I try to be strict with my calories, eating only about 300 for breakfast and 300 for lunch, that way I can have about 600 for dinner which lasts me through the 4-5 hours before I have to go to bed... last night though, my stomach was GROWLING in bed so loud, I was tempted to get up and eat everything in sight, but I didn't (yay!) ...Instead, I got up and looked at my "before" pictures---that pretty much put me in my place! Talk to you ladies soon..thanks again for the support and acceptance! Tara SW=267--5/11/04 CW=267--5/13/04 GW=140 mini goal=250 |
Good Morning chickadies!!! I have a question, Diane maybe you can help me out with this one, since you are the recipe lady.... :D I am a half breed half mexican and half white..........needless to say I LOVE mexican food and that is what I am missing the most..... I did chicken fajitas without tortillas, but I am having a brain freeze trying to come up with a low cal version of my favorites...... I have been craving some enchiladas like a mad woman  If anyone has any ideas feel free to post them, I am open to suggestions......alright later alligators, Jamie
