Does Anyone Remember Kerri Smith?
A few years ago, a reporter for the Denver Post named Kerri Smith wrote a fascinating series about her own personal weight loss story. She took a year leave of absence in order to lose 200 pounds and wrote a weekly column about her journey and general weight loss topics: http://63.147.65.175/life/kerri/kerri.htm I avidly read it as it was published and really got caught up in her story. Thirty-three parts were published and then the series stopped dead, as far as I can tell. She also was scheduled to publish a book called "The Year Of Body Transformation" that was later cancelled.
I've searched the Internet and googled her and can't find out anything about what happened to her. Why did she quit writing the series? Did she gain the weight back that she had lost? What's she doing now? Anyone know anything about Kerri Smith? |
hiya meg thanks for the fabulous read! ~slipping on her super slueth hat~ i will help you look for her. ~smiling brightly~ i adore a good mystery!!

I ditto the interesting read. (I skimmed over parts of it and will read it all when I get home) There's a link to e-mail her. Did you try that? Since it's been almost 5 years, I'm wondering if her cancer didn't return. Hmmm.

I totally got caught up in her story too and then it just stopped -- no explanations. Kerri Smith doesn't work for the Denver Post any longer, unfortunately. I tried emailing the paper about a year ago and never got a response. While the series was running, there was a good deal of discussion about it here at 3FC (that's how I found it), so I was hoping that maybe some of the old-timers might have heard something about what happened to her.
I really hope that the cancer didn't come back. :( |
I agree - I got completely caught up in her story and project too. The book she was planning to write - "The year of the body transformation", used to be listed on Amazon as not yet published, but it's not there anymore.
Also - it's a bit strange that the Denver Post didn't answer your email? Please let us know if you hear anything. |
Who is the publisher that was doing the book? You should be able to contact her via the publishing house.

Hi. I've done some more searching: The book is not listed on amazon.com, but it is listed on amazon.co.uk - but as "not in stock". Apparently it was published on January 1st 2003, the full title of the book is: "The Year of Body Transformation: A Memoir" by Kerri Smith. It's even a picture of the book:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...722449-5715831 The publisher is Hyperion Books, but on their website - Kerri Smith is not listed as one of their authors. My search on the book's ISBN number came up blank. |
I found a blurb somewhere saying that they were told the book was cancelled by the publisher. That's weird, because there are actually two entries for the book on Amazon UK, reworded differently and about a year apart from each other. I guess they cancelled, regrouped and cancelled again. This may or may not be a current email address for her that I found tagged on the end of one of her articles.
