Sprout wanted to know...

Morning :)

I have spent the last day reviewing my diet and re-reading the South Beach Book. I have gone off-track and have been feeling like my energy has left me. So Yesterday & this morning I have taken the time to prepare my day of meals. I did not go to Curves yesterday and won't be going today... but I WILL be going Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to make up for it. It is too hard for me to work-out when I begin (just cannot do both on the first day). So I ask for your prayers & support that I will be able to do all I have intended to do.

*******

I am beginning again...

Breakfast:
A glass of water
Cup of coffee - !/2 decaf & 1/2 reg with non dairy creamer & Splenda
2- Vegetable Quiche Cups (made in muffin tin... 3/4 cup Egg Sub.-Spinach-Red pepper-Onion-bit of Ham-Lite Cheese & Seasoning) Baked at 350* for 20 min.

Snack:
2-Deviled eggs & Water & Herb Tea

Lunch:
Grilled Chicken Breast sliced on a bed of Romaine with Balsamic Dressing
Water

Snack:
Celery stuffed with Lite Cream Cheese, Water & Herb Tea (the tea seems to keep my tummy quiet)

Dinner:
Grilled Salmone with Rosemary
Steamed Veggies
Tossed Salad (Greeans, Seedless cuke, Red Pepper)
Water

Dessert:
Maple Flavored Ricotta Dessert (I usually mix the whole 15oz container of Part Skim Ricotta -makes 4 dessert cups- w/ 2 packets of Spenda, 1 tsp of Maple flavoring - that's it... yummy!) Serving size 1/2 Cup.

Herb Tea before bed

Sprout ~ I will continue to hold you in my prayers for your health & well-being and I am so very sorry to hear of your DBIL - I too will hold your family in prayer.

God Bless!

SunnyD57 11-11-2003 10:15 AM

GARY ~ Where have you been the last few days :?: I hope that you and Angie are doing okay. I miss your posts!

MICHELE ~ Thank-you so much for your words of encouragement! The Lord has blessed you with intuitiveness. I am doing allot better today and am feeling hopeful in getting back "on-track". I feel that bad food choices are the reasons for my fatigue. Darn Halloween Candy I had left! Peanutbutter Cups! MY DOWNFALL I am afraid!! They are gone now... got rid of them.

So happy for you that Tai Chi is making you feel better... sure do hold you in prayer that you continue to feel well also!

Oh... I hope that everything turns out well with the guy. He sounds promising. I hold you in prayers that you find someone deserving of you ;)

ANGEL ~ You know what... I find myself looking at Angel's differently ever since I have met you. I think of you each time I see them in a magazine or catalog for those special ornaments, or the dishes  I am getting tons of them now because of the holiday's coming up.

Hope that you have been feeling well. Still real busy at the station? Prayers for you & hubby that the settlement is taken care of soon and that you get what is due you!

JUDY ~ Glad you liked the sites I sent your way... it's neat to actually see what you have to wear, but I sure wouldn't want to wear it - they all look rather uncomfortable. But I also know you have to do what you need to to get the sleep & oxygen your body needs.

Hope that your family heals quickly from those colds! You are such a goof!

SAMI ~ I hope that you are having a better day today then yesterday... I had a crummy day yesterday too! Is it something in the air??? Feel better!!! (((Hugs)))

SUE ~ WoW! That's a drag - that you don't have your cp in your home... wish I could help you - I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't get to mine when I wanted to :o I am glad to hear from you any chance you get as everyone else is too... always good to hear from you!

Such WONDERFUL news about your Pastor!!! I am so happy for him, his family and church family!

WILMA ~ How are you doing today? We haven't heard from you in a bit either... thinking of you.

HEY AMANDA ~ You lurking out there??? How's the "no smoking" coming along? You doing okay? I am thinking of you and MISS hearing from you, kiddo ;) Write when you get a moment and let us all know how things are going with the interview & your health.

*******

Well, that's about it for now...
You all take care and know how much you are on my mind even when I am not posting ;)

"God, hear my cry. Listen to my prayer. I call to you from the ends of the earth. I am afraid. Carry me away to a high mountain. You have been my protection, like a strong tower against my enemies." Psalm 61:1-3 (NIV)

Good Morning!

It's Remembrance Day here in Canada and I have a day off work. There are services all over the city that honour those who served in the wars. I have a few things planned but nothing really special. I plan to get caught up on some jobs that are long overdue.

Sunny: What a coincidence! I too spent last evening researching SBD. I found some great information on Prevention.com. I think I'll give it a try. It might be the kick I need. Curves is great but I know I need to get my eating under control. I hope I can come to you or Michele for advice!!

Sprout: My prayers are with you and your family. It's so hard to lose someone so young. I'm also praying for your health.

Sami: Wow! They sure do keep you busy at work! It's so frustrating when supervisors think they can dump their work on you. Keep strong! My problem at work was petty compared to yours and it grated on me so I can imagine your frustration. BTW, you are doing amazing with your eating. Keep it up. I hope to report a loss next week.

doitforme: Glad to see your post. It's been a while. I was glad to hear that your pastor's test came back clear. Praise God.

Well, I better get going and get some work done. Have a great day.

SunnyD57 11-11-2003 11:10 AM

WILMA ~ We posted at the exact same time!! So good to hear from you. We'll support one another in this! When it comes to food I have days when it can be so tough. One bad day can take me three to take off again (if not longer! :o )

Here's a link to a couple pictures I took on Sunday of my guys ;) I cannot post them again once I have posted on a thread - so I'll leave the link below, you can check them out if you'd like. Scroll up or down - threre two pics :)

I love you guys!

Today is a day for new beginnings I think from reading the posts. And I too decided last night that I was going to GET IT TOGETHER! I had a really nice salad last night w/a low carb dressing and a grilled lemon pepper chicken breast on top. I forgot to bring the other breast in today for lunch (darn it!), but I didn't stop this a.m. for breakfast and instead i'm having shakes for lunch and breakfast. And lots of water today. Going to have a diet rite soda too. I feel good so far but I've found that I have a real fear of being hungry. I mean when I think of it, i think i've always been like that and the truth is, thank God, i've never actually been hungry. I remember when I was first-married, we rented a house w/ a nice pantry and if my pantry got low or the refrigerator it gave me real anxiety. Like I wouldn't have enough. I'm trying to remember that God has already given me everything I need. He will supply me w/everything and he won' t let me suffer. In this book i'm reading about God being in the small stuff the thing that hit me today says:

"God does not help us because we deserve it; He helps us because He loves us."

Isn't that good to remember? It's helping me today anyway.

Sunny~It's funny that you say i am intuitive. I use to think i was psychic, but now i see it as a gift from God. And it doesn't seem so odd to me anymore. It's a gift i like having. I loved your thing about no excuses, wow is that true. How wonderful that you were able to recognize getting off track, when I think you've been doing so wonderful. How are you doing on the Dr.Phil book? I've gotten off track w/that too. I'm stuck on Key 2 and 3. Think there are some things I don't want to deal with, but i must. Your recipe for the Maple flavored Ricotta sounds good, i'll have to try that. And i wouldn't doubt that the sugar is affecting you. I just can't buy candy like that. We had some at Alpha and i took it home to enjoy and it was gone before i got home.

Wilma~we have Veterans' Day here today and lots of people do have it off. It's sad that we don't do enough to remember our veterans.

Hello to all! You are very dear people and i appreciate your caring and supportive words. We are so lucky.

EZMONEY 11-11-2003 04:28 PM

VETERANS DAY

HI LOOOOSERS

HAPPY VETERANS DAY-- THANK GOD FOR THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

I have read all the posts but don't have much time to respond today. I put in a new door, have bills to pay, then Angie and I have a meeting with our insurance man. oops- before that I have to take the nephew to the dentist for a cleaning.

I have started to try to lose some weight again! Boy- where have I heard that before:lol:

I am up to 185 now, which for me is quite heavy in the 'ol gut area, or as Angie calls it "heart attack central"- I should weigh about 170-- so my goal is to lose 10 pounds first then work on the other 5.

Yesterday I did 5 miles, 45 minutes 600 calories on the elliptical in our gym-- had whole wheat toast and low fat ham deli slices for breakfast. Nachos- tortilla chips with (lots-damn) of cheese. For dinner I made spinach lasagna-- good but with (lots-damn) of cheese-- and me with high cholesterol.
This morning Angie went for her 3.5 mile walk/jog and I got the nephew up to do a 3.5 mile walk-- it took us 55 minutes-- he was complaining all the way:lol: but at least he made it-- I tried to get him walking last year and he couldn't make it a mile-- we have been really working with him on his exercise-- did I mention he has high cholesterol too? and only 13. I told him that I usually do this particular walk of 3.5 miles in 45 minutes so we have to work "together" to get the time down. Angie, myself, and my 2 kids did a 3.1 mile race last Thanksgiving Day, they want to do it this year too-- Ron wants to go so i have to get him in shape to do it. My step-daughter will be with us this year too.

SUE I wish you could have your pc in your own room too!! we miss hearing from you. So glad on your Pastor's news.

ANGEL- Here are some prayers for your dilema with Maytag.

SPROUT So sorry for your BIL- one just never understands why- do we? Prayers for your family and your health.

WILMA- Good luck with the SBD diet if that is what you do. It is a combination of exercise and eating-- as if you didn't know:lol: Stick with the Curves for your exercise if you can-- we/I need that commitment! Once we put all the equipment in our own home gym and dropped our gym membership it was so easy to just run out to the garage anytime-- so easy that I DIDN'T do it! I need a commitment-- hey about a commitment to LIVING!!!

JUDY Hope your QVC stuff is all you could wish for! Sorry about those vandals attitudes! It seems to be coming the way of life for most kids- how sad.

SAMI I am sorry for all the work pressure. It is going to probably get worse as the holidays approach- prayers for you! You certainly are doing well with all your struggles as far as staying on your goals- bless you MUCHO!!!!

MICHELE Wow have you been busy! With the coffee shop, shopping and reading-- plus a new commitment to your health! I am so proud of you!! Small steps add up to lots of mileage over time. Your chicken sounded so much like the meals Angie makes! If she had her way that is about all we would eat- thank goodness I make several dinners each week:s: Not so healthy but ............ well, not so healthy. Have a great "chase" with the new guy-- new romances are always so exciting!!

SUNNYD NEMO-NEMO--- that is all I have heard around here for a week!! My nephew has watched it 4 times, step-d 3 and Angie once! They all love it too. Maybe one day I will see it, that is if they cancell sports! Love the NO EXCUSE post! I am trying that this week myself-- at worst until Thanksgiving so I can enjoy that day without feeling so guilty-- hoping to lose a few by then-- we shall see. I am proud of you for realizing you were off track, and have started again-- remember, it is a way of life, not just a diet. You just have to keep going forward- NO MATTER WHAT!! even if some days the forward motion seems stuck in neutral-- always forward/never back. TOO many peanut butter cups! fine! no problem!! just add another half mile or so to your walk or another 10 minutes to your workout-- FORWARD-- don't let a little candy pull you back. Joe is expecting a hottie next summer and HE IS GONNA GET IT (YOU!!!)

Well have to hurry and get off before Angie gets home with the nephew and step-d-- they went to see that Elf movie (Angie wasn't too keen on it) but it is what the kids wanted to see.

Later-Gary

Hi friends,

I got my QVC things yesterday. They are so cool and the quality is great. I tried out the two race cars that make sounds. Paul says my sister will love me ( not). We always hated when the kids got loud toys that made alot of noise. Her son will love it maybe even her husband. He can play with it out side. The sweater is so pretty. The angels are on a royal blue background . The zipper pull has a cresent moon on it. They are showing more Quaker Factory stuff at QVC November 29th 12am- 1am Eastern 9pm-10pm pacific. 2pm- 3pm eastern 11am 12pm pacific. The prices aren't bad.

~SUNNYD~ I loved your menu it looked real good. The pictures of your cat where great. He is so cute with the heart on his side. I can tell from the other picture Your family is very comfy on the new couch. They have picked their favorite spot. Where is your spot? I printed your no excuss and I'm going to post them in our house.

~GARY~How do you start running when your out of shape? Does your wife Angie run everyday even on the weekends? How do you dress in the california sun for running? Do you find it hard to motivate yourself ? I see so many peple running and I know if I were more active it would help mentally and physically. Being as big as I am it scares me . Where do you start? With older people I found those that dance or play tennis are also in excellent shape. Tennis is not my bag. Ball room dancing would be fun or square dancing if only I could get my husband to join me. I wish I could just get him to walk with me around the block. When I was younger I went to the YMCA and swam laps at the pool. I loved that. I can't do that any more because I have corneal eye errosian. The surface of my eye breaks up in pool chemicals or high winds. It is really painful. Feels like glass is in your eye. I have to sit in complete darkness for three days with both eyes closed for it to heal. My son has the same problem.

Got to go

God's Listening For The Sound of a Thankful Heart

By Roy Lessin

One day, while paying my electric bill, I decided to thank the company for the service they were providing me. “Thanks for my electricity,” I said, “It’s really quite a bargain for all the benefits I receive.” “What!” said the lady behind the counter, in amazement, “That’s the first time anyone has ever thanked us. All I ever hear around here are complaints.”

It’s a challenge to grow up with a thankful heart. From an early age we are exposed to a culture of complainers, gripers, grumblers, and critics. We complain about the weather, traffic, food, work, neighbors, bills, the government, church, and life in general. Worst of all, we are ungrateful toward God. It would be hard to count the number of complaints and criticisms that are daily spoken before Him and against Him. How can we, who have received so much, be thankful for so little?

One of the great indicators of true spirituality is not measured by how many times we go to church, how big our Bibles are, or how long we pray, but it is measured by the level of gratitude that is in our hearts. When we are ungrateful, the heart of God is saddened, the Holy Spirit is grieved, and the joy of the Lord is quenched within us.

“When ye will offer
a sacrifice of thanksgiving
unto the Lord, offer it
at your own will.”
- Leviticus 22:29 KJV

Being thankful sweetens you, grumbling sours you; being thankful brings sunshine to your countenance, being ungrateful casts a shadow; being thankful brings a melody to your words, criticism makes you sound like a clanging cymbal; being thankful keeps your feet on the pathway of celebration, complaint takes you down the road of despair.

When our hearts are filled with gratefulness we may feel like our thanksgiving is inadequate, but we can be certain that our thanksgiving is always appropriate. It will gladden the heart of God to hear your heartfelt thanks being freely offered to Him today.

“From the fullness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another.”

- John 1:16

How cute!

Sunny~I just saw the pic of your cat w/the big heart on his side, that is adorable!! He looks a lot like my Tom. He is white w/black spots, maybe not as many as yours and certainly without a heart!

I'm low-carbing it today and i'm feeling good about it. Took a little extra time and made some breakfast this a.m. and brought it with me. I know what i'm having for lunch and dinner so i am doing well. Have to really make an effort to get in all the water though today. Yesterday i was so tired, hit me in the afternoon. I literally went home and made my salad w/chicken breast and then i went to bed. I read and watched tv but i was resting and i think it really helped.

I hope you are all right about my shy guy at church but i just want to get to know him better at this point. I said after the Holy Spirit day that if he made an effort to talk then i would be happy, and he did, so now it'll just take time to see if he's really interested. I do plan to go to Church on Sat. night, he'll probably be there. Is that bad? Of course i'm going to worship the Lord, but it'd be great to see him there too.

Here's a couple things from God is in the small stuff...

:angel:Rejoice in the Lord's discipline as well as His blessings.

:sunny:Little is much if God is in it.:sunny:

:cb:Faith does not demand miracles, but often accomplishes them. :cb:

Have a great Wednesday!

Mitchypoo 11-12-2003 09:21 AM

Oh, Angel, that was beautiful! Thank you for that!

EZMONEY 11-12-2003 10:09 AM

Gotta be quick--

Michele- I think Sat. service on the chance to meet shyguy is fine! God understands us - use the resources He gives us-- as long as we try to focus first on Christ-- as you do!

Angel- Thanks for post

Judy- Angie would love to run all the time, however, she has a siatic nerve problem so she will run, walk, or jog-- whatever she is able to do at the time-- she runs/walks/jogs at least every other day -- and lifts weights -- upperbody one day -- lower body the next day. Hope I didn't mislead you-- I am walking-- I have run 5k's before-- walked a marathon-- right now I am not in shape so I am heading back WALKING-- I walk at a 14-15 minute mile pace right now-- when Angie and I walked the 26.2 mile marathon we averaged 13 minute miles- we TRAINED for it for 6 months. There may be walking clubs in your area-- there are here- that you can join for support. We wear shorts and tee-shirts here most of the time to walk/run in-- sometimes light sweatshirts and warm-ups-- as with you guys it depends on the weather of the day.
Judy I understand you can't run now, probably never-- just get out and start (if DR. says it is OK) you will increase distance in time-- starting is the hardest-- staying motivated is something we all deal with but as you progress the motivation becomes much easier--- gotta run I will Answer any questions you have-- we have a lot of knowledge in this family on running- son is a coach-- Angie reasearches constantly . GONE

doitforme 11-12-2003 04:54 PM
