50lbs to lose, need some support 😢

  • Hello!

    Nice to meet you all!
I’m currently been calorie counting for past month or so, did it with a friend but she went missing (probably fell off the wagon) and I feel slipping as with herself getting off the wagon, support for me stopped too and I am struggling.

Long story short, I’m 42, heaviest I have ever been at 222 lbs (I have lost 10lbs already) so just need to keep going.

I am going for the healthy approach of calorie counting and exercise, losing 1-2lbs a week.

4lbs a month is great. This is my motto.

Anyway, if anyone else is committed and wants to be doing it together and keep each other accountable, please let me know! 😊

  • Hi LiisaAnna,

Four pounds a month is an achievable goal. Smart choice.

Wish you well on your journey.
  • Thanks very much!
I have done it before, and can do it again. just need to be patient and reasonable 🤣 (Not my virtues)
  • Hiya, I'm 37 and close to your weight, was 212 but currently 209. The heaviest I've ever been was about 216 - but I'm very short. So probably comparable BMIs and I teetered very close to morbid obesity. I am also counting calories as well, and I'm on day four of my approach where I actually planned every breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the whole week. It's a very low calorie diet at 1200 calories. I'm a frequent binger, delivery orderer, and restaurant goer. I wish you well on your path. I think I need to be about 150 or 160 to not technically be obese but overweight so I have a long way to go for a big milestone.

Though slow weight loss is definitely the best approach I'm trying to train my belly to get used to a low cal diet because I did see in a documentary that once you've been obese you have to eat less than someone who never has just to maintain the same weight. Becoming obese really does permanent damage, not just to your skin. I tried an 1800 calorie diet before but I kept binging on it and the weight loss was too slow so I gave up. But four pounds in a month is 48 pounds in a year, not bad at all.
  • Liisa! You're doing amazing—10lbs down is a huge win! It’s tough when support fades, but you’ve already proven you can do this. I love your realistic and healthy approach. I’m on a similar journey and would love to stay accountable together. Let’s keep each other motivated and celebrate those 4lbs a month victories.
  • Great progress! Stay focused on your 4lbs/month goal, you're doing awesome!
  • I believe that everything will work out for you! I also think about starting to lose weight but I really don't have time to eat healthy. I want to contact hellofresh and learn about the purchased food. I will also try to add regular sports to my life. Then I think I will be able to lose weight
