Happy Lowest Crime Rate of the Year Day! Historically, Superbowl Sunday has had the lowest daily crime rate.

Well, someone finally tattled to the scale today that I have been off-plan a lot. It was up a whopping five pounds from Friday! Today, I broke even on calories. I know it doesn't sound like a big deal and even sounds awful in the framework of dieting. However, usually on Sundays I am greatly above my calorie allotment. In addition, today involved both fast food and pizza. It shows I made reasonable choices instead of terrible ones.

Over calories just barely. I'd like to think maybe I broke even since I was out walking in 12 degree (F) weather today. Managed to stop my self from continuing to overeat. Come to think of it, I managed to keep my calories in check at lunch even though I really wanted to eat more.

Just saw an article about a study on a new drug to help with obesity. It works with the body's appetite control mechanisms. The average participant lost 20% of their body weight. Apparently, this is unprecedented for any obesity drug.

Had so much fun skiing, I almost forgot to post. I skied for four hours. I did great calorie wise, especially if you truly burn as many calories as they say you do from skiing (600 cal/hr).

Skied for a couple of hours this morning and then headed home. Calories are okay. Very please with my base line fitness level. I skied a total of 10 hours in the last 3 days and I am not sore. I definitely want to keep that up!

We are having below zero (F) weather here. It is strangely 15 degrees (F) warmer at the ski place. We'll see how the frigid cold affects our walks. I think it is suppose to be warmer tomorrow.

Doing okay today but may end up going over after all calorie wise. The workout at the gym was extra hard today.

I earned a little good Karma skiing. While I was on the chair lift, I saw a faint outline of something buried just under the snow that was quite possibly a cell phone. It was snowing steadily at the time. As soon as I got off the lift, I headed toward where I saw it to check it out. It was kind of hard to find because even more snow had fallen. I did find it though and it was indeed a cell phone. As I was digging it out of the snow, I heard a voice from above me. "Dude, I think she found your cell phone". I shouted back "Is this yours?" and the guy was like "Yeah!". So I stayed there until he came down to get it. He was really happy and very excited! His buddy was on snowboard and pretty much crashed into me. After he finally stopped he was sitting right on top of it . He told his friend to put it in a zippered pocket- LOL

No good deed goes unpunished- my decades old skis have gashes across them from the snowboard crash. Ah, well I think it was worth it.

I am quietly quitting my program. There are several things I use to do but just stopped doing and didn't even realize it. I need to figure out how to get myself to re-engage properly. I know exactly where I go over each day (calorie wise) and I do it any way. I start fresh every day with the best of intentions. When the time comes, my gumption is lost and feel like what I eat in that moment doesn't matter. It totally matters though. I am following in the footsteps of many failed dieters/life style changers that have come before me.

Hello! Trying something new today with check-ins during the day. If things go as intended, I will update this post throughout the day.

Breakfast check-in: On track. Really wanted a fast food breakfast tallying at about 800 calories. I haven't had a fast food breakfast for months. It just sounded good today. I settled for my usual- a cup of coffee.

Lunch Edit: On track and have dinner planned out.

Snack Edit: Had two unplanned snacks. The first one, while not the greatest, still fit into my plan. The second, after my last workout, put me in danger of being over for the day. I need to adjust my dinner plan if I am to stay on track.

Dinner Edit: So not on track but sitting at calorie neutral. Hoping to make it through the evening.

Final Edit: Went over on calories at 9:25 pm. Should have gone to bed early.

Today is the one year anniversary of the start of this thread. I am pleased to say I am 11 pounds lower today. In addition, I am proud of myself for still showing up. It would be so easy to just drift away and to stop trying. This is especially true because I am in a difficult stretch right now.

Breakfast Check-in: On track. I still want a junky fast food breakfast. However, the 800 calories is simply too high and I will not be able to compensate for it later in the day So hooray, one good choice made!.

Lunch Edit: On track. I ate more than I intended for lunch. However, I still have plenty of calories for dinner. I don't have dinner planned properly though. I should take a look at that.

Dinner/Final Edit: Off track. Thought I made okay choices for dinner but didn't add correctly. So over at dinner time today.

A few posts ago I was wondering if you burn more calories walking in cold weather. Turns out you do, an average of 34% more. If true, it would have keep me in a calorie deficit for a few of the days I was over. The true-sayer ( the scale) says it is not true for me.

Breakfast Check-in: I had bigger breakfast than usual. I may have been better off getting the fast food I have been craving. The calories were almost the same.

Lunch Edit: On track. I have dinner planned out.

Dinner/Final Edit: On track. For today, on track means calorie neutral. I had been going over a lot on Sundays so I started aiming to stay calorie neutral or better. It doesn't affect the countdown; the countdown stays at the same number of days. Just a few hours until bedtime. Hoping I will not have to post an update.

Great news! I was able to get through the rest of the evening without eating more. I really, really wanted to but forced myself to have a cup of tea with a little fiber supplement added. Then I went straight to bed. So whew! I am going to do my best to make this a turning point.

Lunch/Dinner Edit: Did well for lunch. Still on track after dinner. Now to make it until bedtime.

Final Edit: Breathing a sigh of relief- Although it was tough, I made it through the day with a calorie deficit. I have a plan for tomorrow. Now, I just need to stick to it.

So, to my annoyance, I realized I have three unintentional hobbies- eating, thinking about eating and overeating. Blah! I would like better hobbies!

Breakfast Check-in: On track. Now, to keep it that way, especially after dinner. Even though this week has been a mixed bag I have been over on calories as much as creating a calorie deficit, the swings to being over are not nearly as large as they use to be. In fact, if it truly does burn more calories being out in the cold, I could still be within my calorie limit. Either way, it is progress.

Lunch Edit: Doing great! Going ice skating in a few minutes and then the rec center. I have dinner all planned out. I have enough space for an evening snack. I want to plan it out so I don't go over.

Final Edit: On track. Went to bed early but now having trouble sleeping.

Breakfast Check-in: On track. Literally ten minutes ago I had thought of what I wanted to write; now I can't think of what it was. Perhaps one part was that I've started a new habit. Previously, I would stay up late and use the computer in the kitchen. I would end up in this rut where I was tired but wouldn't go to bed. It is kind of an odd problem. The other piece of it was I would decide I was hungry in there and have a snack. These snacks were either pushing me over my calorie limit or further over my calorie limit. Either way, it was not good. My new habit is to bring my tablet up to bed at a reasonable bed time. Then when I get tired of reading and playing games, I go right to bed. Generally, I don't like electronics in the bedroom but this seems to be working. It has interrupted the late night snack cycle. I'm taking that as a huge win! It hasn't shown up on the scale yet and on many days I still drift over my calorie allowance. However, the calorie overage is much lower than it had been.

Lunch Edit: On track. I am resisting the urge to snack right now. If I do snack, it will be much more likely that I will go over for today.

Dinner/Final Edit: Stagnate- at calorie neutral. A bit disappointed, I was really working on having a deficit for today. The end of the month is upon us and I will likely have another gain. Currently, I am more focused on having more daily wins. When I succeed at that, the monthly wins will follow.

Breakfast Check in: On track. However, I ate to soothe my injured ego this morning. My weight is up and am looking at a gain for the month. My old sins of gluttony are catching up and my new changes are not enough and haven't caught up yet. Going to work on a better plan today.

Dinner/Final Edit: Off track. All in all even though the scale is being uncooperative, my calorie count for last week was lower than the previous week. I just need to do it again. Stay tuned!

Breakfast Check-in: On track. The damage report is in. I have gained three pounds this month. My weight is now about what is was at the beginning of October. Five months down the tubes. Time to dust myself off and to keep foraging ahead. Will power where are you?

Oh My, I Forgot to Post All Day Check-in: Very busy day that started early. Gosh, I really am just marking time. One day up followed by one day down. Am working on developing a new habit relaxing in the bedroom instead of relaxing in the kitchen. When I sit up late in the kitchen I am far more likely to snack and not go to bed even when I feel sleepy. When I sit up late in the bedroom, no snacking and I go right to sleep (much earlier) when I am tired.

Breakfast Check-in: On track. I have plan for the day and there are no sweets in the house to over indulge on.

Final Edit: Off track. I'm starting sound like a broken record. At least I have the exercise bit in place. There was a study ages ago that showed people who started exercising and then worked on their diet were more likely to keep the weight off.

It was cold and rainy today and on the verge of becoming sleet. I went out walking anyway. I don't have a proper coat for weather like this. I have one that is good enough for this type of weather. However, the zipper is broken but I still wore it. It really bothers me because the rest of the jacket is fine so it seems so wasteful to throw it away. Even if I donated it, the charity would just put it into the landfill. In the end, I think I probably looked quite daft out in weather like that with a half zipped coat. I was determined. Now to round up enough determination with regards to my diet. It's not over until it is over.

Breakfast Check-in: On track. LOL- it is easy to be on track first thing in the morning. It 5:00 pm and after when things go to pot. Perhaps I needed to be more strict. Instead of looking at the day as a whole, I need to look at each meal (and snack) as compared to what I planned. Losing this weigh is really important to me and I need to pull this together.

Breakfast Check-in: On track. I slept pretty well last night but I am having a hard time getting myself going this morning. I need to leave for the bank and gym in a few minutes. So by "blah" yesterday, I meant that I had carefully calculated everything and made changes to my choices so I would stay on track. Unfortunately, one of the cells in my spreadsheet was cleared out. I suspect my cat helped me with that. I discovered the error when I was putting in the final bits of information and of course by then it was too late. Hence, I summarized it with "Blah".

Lunch Edit: On track/Off track. Calorie wise I am still on track but will have to be careful with what I eat for dinner. I am off track because I ate more than I planned for lunch.

Dinner/ Final Edit: Off track. I planned so carefully but in the end was really hungry after dinner. On the bright side, there are no longer any stale marshmallows in my house- LOL. Need to figure out a better plan for times like this.

Had a better day today. Actually, being on track on my 'rest' day is huge! Went to the grocery store and bought lots of healthy fruits and veggies. I had intended to wash them and cut them up but didn't quite get that far. I've made a list of what has worked for me in the past and I am working on incorporating what I can into what I am doing now.

I must figure out how to accomplish my goal.

Had a good day today. Well, the multiple times a day check-in didn't quite do what I wanted it to. So, it is on pause for now. I had a new idea last night. I did a search on yoga poses for appetite control. Lo and behold there were some results. Unfortunately, yoga is very hard for me because of my feet. I will have to give some thought on how to modify the recommended poses to try some of them.

Had a good day today and was able to go ice skating. I watch a cable TV show about people who are literally hundreds of pounds overweight. The doctor on the show said something I thought was really interesting. He said at their weight they are either gaining weight or losing weight. They are not staying the same weight. I wonder what weight or BMI that starts at.

I haven't been here (# of days left) for a week! This is progress! Ate a big dinner but still on track. Hoping to keep going strong.

A giant snowstorm is headed this way and the total snowfall may be measured in feet! I'll be out walking in it- LOL. Maybe I'll get my cross country skis out again. A couple of weeks ago, I took them out in my backyard and could barely do it. I can't believe I use to be able to ski for miles. At a crossroads, I either need to keep working at it or to just give it up.
