@grannynancy: It's not about how much you eat, it's about what you eat. For example, 2000 calories of healthy food is better than 1200 calories of junk food. I guess the doctor didn't give you advice on what to eat?

@Old Biddy: The first step to losing weight should be to throw out all of the junk food in your refrigerator. Then you won't need a padlock.
Yeah, that's so true.

The refrigerator padlock idea is just ridiculous, who is going to have the key, I guess that would be you

Yeah that's a doctor that isn't trying to help you at all, just a thought less mean- spirited "suggestion".

That might be necessary if trying to control a child, but it sure would be a pain in the (__*__) , to wrap a chain around the fridge and padlock it every time you wanted to open the door !

I saw this doctor on Friday for a re-check of a hip issue. The nurse registered my weight and her computer gave her a warning screen because my weight was 22 pounds down since the last time I was in.

The doctor didn't say a word. Nothing. I admit that I didn't mention my weight loss either, because I was wanting to see what she would do. I should have told her I put the padlock on the refrigerator. haha

OB: I don't quite get why the nurse would get a warning screen.

Congrats on the 22 anyhow !

I had been going in for a hip issue recheck about every three months. The nurse's warning screen popped up because of the amount of weight lost. She didn't get one on my first visit of a 10 pound loss, but between that 10 pound loss and the last visit there was an additional 22 pound loss and it triggered something in the computer.
