Smile 50 lbs to lose... trying the OMAD diet!

Hello everyone,

I'm on here for support...really need it with the weight loss!

Last year, I tried the Keto diet but broke out in severe painful hives. It has taken me several months to heal myself with the natural liver flush (doctors were not able to figure out the cause of my hives). I'm on my 3rd bottle of liver flush and the hives are almost gone! I'm no longer on antihistamines during the day! Praise God!

I'm going to try the OMAD diet as I did my research and I really like the concept as I'm a big fan of intermittent fasting. OMAD stands for "One Meal A Day".

My eating window is between 3PM to 8PM but generally, I have been eating between 3-6PM. I don't want to count calories or macros anymore... my life just needs to stay simple. I have been dieting all my life and I'm just tired of dieting! I hope this diet will help me achieve my weight loss goal!

I started this diet on Jan 2nd. And I feel REALLY good after one week of eating one meal a day. I don't feel hungry and I have a lot of energy during the day. The best part about this diet is that I can eat whatever I want! Everything is fair game! And that is an amazing feeling: guilt free eating!

I will weigh myself weekly as I don't want to weigh myself everyday... I used to be obsess with weighing myself and I don't want to get into that habit again as it would discourage me immensely.

Wish me luck!

HEIGHT: 5'1"
STARTING WEIGHT: 176.2 lbs
CURRENT WEIGHT: 173.6 lbs (BMI = 32.8, Obese Class I)
GOAL WEIGHT: 120 lbs

I love OMAD! I lost weight and maintained relatively easily after decades of yoyo dieting with other approaches.

I am trying to eat within a larger eating window these days (long story) but as a result, I am struggling now to maintain my loss. I wish you luck with this method. I would certainly encourage others to give it a try. It certainly made a huge difference for me!

@yoyoma, thank you so much for your support and inspiration! It's so nice to hear that this diet worked for someone!!!

The weight loss is slow on this diet but I keep thinking to myself... slow and steady will win that race.

I feel so good because I'm never hungry. I find myself eating a regular meal when it's time to eat and I'm not overdoing it. I feel full and satisfied after my one meal!

I have been doing cardio & push-ups 2-3 times a week. I feel really good today!

Hi there iheartfood... love your name by the way... you are doing so well... I just started OMAD this week. It has taken me a few months to gear up and decide I was going to do it. I have researched OMAD and IF for a while. So glad that you are doing well with it as it inspires me.

@pjvw34, thank you my fellow sister in Christ! You are most welcome to post your stats here! I am cheering you on!

I love this way of eating!

Out of curiosity...I weighed myself again today after eating about 3-5 dinner rolls, a package of instant noodles and 6 strips of bacon yesterday...and my weight went down!

Thanks for inviting me... I am just glad to find someone else doing OMAD. I just don't want to push my way of eating down anyone else's throat if you know what I mean... As I said this is my first week and I actually lost 5 pounds but I know it won't always be that much. A couple of times I had some cake this week because of something special at work. I was able to have some and my results were not affected because of OMAD. My uncle used to be a big guy and years ago he went to OMAD and has been normal size every since (probably 30 years) so I know it works. I really think it helps the body to be in the fasting state for those extra hours.

I was telling someone the other day how I am amazed that in the afternoon after my meal up until I go to bed at night it is not hard for me not to eat if I will stop and ask myself if I am really hungry. So far I have not been truly hungry. Now don't get me wrong I want to eat, but I know that is boredom. It seems I don't really get hungry until right before I am supposed to eat about lunch time. If I am busy I could certainly work through it and go even longer. I just have a window at work to eat in or I won't be able to eat until nearly 4 PM. So I have not even tried that yet, maybe someday.

That is great!!! So happy for you!!! I love it when my weight goes down or even stays the same lol. I am so looking forward to getting back to your weight.

Thanks for listening to me ramble! God bless you and I pray you have an awesome day!!!

While no weight loss program is easy, OMAD is the simplestest and easiest way for me to lose weight. If you have not already done do, you might be interested in reading “The Obesity Code” by Dr Jason Fung. He provides actual scientific studies as to why fasting and intermittent fasting is effective and actually healthful.

Thanks, I have that book but I have not read it all the way through. I have watched Dr. Fung on youtube and really enjoy learning from him. I think he makes perfect sense.

@jpvw34, that's pretty awesome that you lost so much weight within one week!!! High five! It's so amazing that you can enjoy a piece of dessert without feeling guilty about it!

@Slimmer me, how much weight did you lose on OMAD??? And how long did it take you?

@rahman07, OMAD is a form of intermittent fasting where you fast for a long period of time and eat once a day or eat between a particular window (eating all your calories in one sitting instead of spreading your calories out throughout the day). You can eat whatever you want for that meal. For me, I eat between 3-6PM and fast from 6PM till 3PM the next day (fasting in total of 21 hours a day). Some people eat lunch and skip breakfast & dinner. Some people eat dinner and skip breakfast & lunch. It really all depends on your preference.

I didn't lose any weight this week or last week. I got a cold last week and was so sluggish, however, I stuck to OMAD but didn't exercise. This week, I have my period...and I tend to retain during my period. Hope it goes down next week!

Thumbs up Smoothie Diet

Ive tried all those diets to lose weight even fat burners and pills. The only thing that helped me was the Smoothie diet its yummy and also very healthy. I instantly saw results in 1 week l lost about 2 and a half kilos which was amazing! I would definitely recommend it to anyone struggling to lose weight.
