NEW getting out of the 170's

Hey guys! We reached the limit on the last thread

kfunk6113 02-04-2018 01:16 PM

Hey nftm, and webwoman!!

How have you been doing lately? I have been struggling. I haven't weighed myself since Friday morning and I will wait until I get a few good days under my belt before I weigh in again. I am positive I did a ton of damage and am probably 177 ish right now.

merowi2 02-04-2018 06:04 PM

Down only 4lbs in Jan to 173lbs goal by July 25,my b day
155lbs,really struggling with stress eating, joined the Y weight loss challenge, been exercising but still stress eat 2 times a week

kfunk6113 02-05-2018 09:11 AM

merowi Congrats on your 4lb. loss last month, that is fantastic!! It is awesome that you are exercising!!

I struggle with the eating part on the weekends, so I understand.

NFTM17 02-07-2018 02:50 PM

182.4 this morning. Ahhhh!!

kfunk6113 02-07-2018 04:25 PM

I was brave and weighed this morning 175 ... I hate this decade!! I need to get some discipline in my life!

How is calorie counting going nftm? Hopefully it is just one of those odd fluctuations and you will be back in the 170's very soon!

Aunrio 02-11-2018 02:39 PM

Hello all. I weighed in at 179.4 this weekend so I guess I can leave the lonely 180s. So glad to have finally hit this milestone.

kfunk6113 02-11-2018 10:00 PM

Aunrio congrats on a new decade, that is always fun!! What type of plan are you following?

Aunrio 02-13-2018 12:08 PM

I am a calorie counter and I have started implementing intermittent fasting (only eat between 12 and 8) this calendar year with awesome results. 12 pounds since January 1st. I also hit the gym during my "eating hours" at least 4 days a week.

kfunk6113 02-14-2018 09:18 AM

Aunrio congrats on losing 12 lbs. since the first, that is awesome!!! I love IF!! I do need to make workouts more of a priority though. What calorie range do you try to stick with?

171.8

Aunrio 02-17-2018 08:38 AM

On gym days 1350 with more water but 1200 if not. This week was a little off due to Valentine's day, date night, and candy with kids. Still lost a pound but that was in spite of bad behavior.

kfunk6113 02-17-2018 11:50 AM

That is awesome that you were able to lose a pound and enjoy Valentine's Day and your date night!!

169.4

Squirrel Duck 02-26-2018 01:55 PM

Hello,

New to this forum. Just started this morning at a weight of 174.6. Hoping to make it out of the 170s at least as a start!

CleverName 03-02-2018 02:00 PM

Hi everyone- I'm working to join you soon! 182.8 this morning, 170's here I come!

CleverName 03-27-2018 02:59 AM

I made it to the 170's this morning! 179.6

Anyone else in the 170's?

SCW 04-01-2018 01:27 PM

Was originally 201lb at the beginning of Sep and went down to 175lb by Dec, however I have just restarted my journey after a difficult 3 months (young loss in the family)- went from 185.6 on the 17th March to being 178.4 today on the 1st April. I still have 4 more lb to go to being back to my weight before I gained back, and as such, feeling like Iím actually making progress again- wish me luck.

Beeps2011 04-11-2018 03:53 PM

I briefly moved into the 160s in March. But first week of April was a lovely, and much-needed, holiday, so I have bumped back into the 170s.

I hope to be in the 160s again, very soon....and then I will start depleting that decade to rest in the top of the 150s, I believe.

(I did live in the high 140s/low 150s for most of my 40s....MenoPause has caused me some grief!)

Anyway, "hi" to everyone.

Beeps2011 04-12-2018 03:53 PM

I got my yoga time in, today. And ate protein only, for lunch. So, this feels like I am back-on-track.

I will weigh on Saturday and see how it is going.

Beeps2011 04-16-2018 04:59 PM

So, Saturday weigh-in was not too, too bad. I feel like I can get back-on-track right away and should still lose some poundage in April. May will be a strong, strong month, for me, I feel.

I am going to a cardio class after work, today.

I ate a salad at lunch (dressing on the side - only dipped my fork in twice!) and also a piece of salmon.

Blossom_Babe 06-07-2018 03:53 AM

Me too! Clocked in at 179.8 last two days in a row. Back up to 180 even this morning, hoping it's just water weight. I usually find it's a pattern where I'll stay the same for about 10 days and then drop 4-5 lbs overnight. Hoping the pattern remains the same. I want to be in the 160s already!!!

Lacerta 07-20-2019 10:10 AM

No action in this thread for a while, but I saw 179.8 this morning, so I'm moving over here :)
First time I've seen the 170s since around the time I got married in 2000, right out of college. I think I actually might have already been over 180 then, not sure. But definitely not since then. I fit back into a dress I wore around that same time. So I've removed nearly 20 years of gain.

I'm getting closer to goal weight, and finding it harder to maintain a deficit on a regular basis. Some days are good, others are around maintenance, but I'm picking away. If I can get to the 160s by Halloween, I'll be thrilled. My goal for the end of the year is 167.4 (100 pounds down total). So that would leave me just a couple pounds to lose over the holidays. I haven't weighed in the 160s since high school. So I am nearing the lowest I've ever been as an adult mark. I didn't actually start tracking my weight until 2005, so unfortunately, I don't know what that number is, but it isn't too far away.

Lacerta 08-30-2019 10:49 AM

So it has been about 5 weeks since I first saw the 170s and it has taken this long to make any progress at all into them. Until a few days ago, I was just maintaining +/- 180. But I finally feel like I'm making progress into the 170s. Was at 177.4 this morning. September looks to be a good month and I hope to make a lot of progress.

Phaedra 08-30-2019 11:43 AM

Glad I found a 170 thread. I started this journey so that I could fit into my old clothes. And. I missed the old me. Long story short version. I gained close to 100 pounds when my life fell apart for a long while and I overmedicated myself with sweets and carbs. Originally I thought my goal was 170. A lot of my old stuff fits now but If I want to wear a belt and tuck my shirts in Im going to need to lose this belly. So Im shooting for the 160,s.

Lost a lot of my weight on Medifast. Went into maintenance early at 172 while I still have some hair. Made it down to 170 briefly. Im winging it now. Not sure what diet Im doing now. Im counting carbs and protein. The online calculator says a sedentary 70 year old 5'10" woman needs 1600 calories to maintain 160.

I figure if I try to stay below 1500 and Im more active I should be losing. But its not happening. My weight has been yoyoing up and down daily. Mostly 172 to 174. One day it was 176 then the next day it was back down.

If Im doing something wrong here Im open to suggestions. :)

Lacerta 09-08-2019 03:01 PM

Phaedra: Good to see someone else in here with me. I'd love to help, but my scale does that too. I eat below maintenance and don't lose anything for weeks at a time. All I've got for advice is to track your average weight. If you are at a 100-300 calorie per day deficit, you should lose between 1 and 2.5 pounds per month. But with water weight fluctuations, it can be hard to see the loss behind the "noise". Tracking the average will let you know if you are, in fact, moving the right direction or not.

I've been hanging out right around 177 for about a week now, lowest I've seen has been 176.6. I rarely make progress the first week of each month. Too busy at work and too much stress. I hope to see some more new lows starting this week.

I said a few posts back that I'd love to see the 160s by Halloween. While that is still true, it doesn't look likely. Maybe by Thanksgiving, though.

Phaedra 09-08-2019 09:13 PM

Im shooting for 160 too. I think. I can wear most of my clothes now. But I still cant tuck stuff in. Too round around the waist. Im staying mostly between 172 and 174. A couple of days ago it shot up to 178. WTH. This am it was 170. I swear that scale is possessed.

I have been staying below 1500 calories. That's my high. Most days 1300 -1400. Im fairly active. Lots of yard work etc. Ill get more active once it cools off.

Good to see you too. 1 pound a month. Huh. At this rate Ill be 80 by the time I get to 160. By then I wont give a snit. :D JK

Halloween that sounds like a plan. Thanksgiving works too.

Lacerta 09-13-2019 12:20 PM

Once I actually got going into the 170s, it has gone pretty fast. Almost halfway through as of this morning, at 175.4. At this rate, I may make it by Halloween after all. Hoping for continued new lows for the next 2 weeks.

Phaedra 09-22-2019 03:50 AM

Lacerta

Good Job. Sounds like youre heading for a skinny Halloween. :carrot:

Made it down to 170.2. Again. Annnd its back up again. So close. No cigar. :dizzy:

Lacerta 10-05-2019 12:25 AM

Thanks guys. I was completely wrong though. I had a great whoosh and then stalled. Since September 13th, I've only lost another 1.2 pounds. I tend to lose in stalls and whooshes, and I was coming off a whoosh and got over-excited and forgot about the stall part. I think 160s by Thanksgiving is more likely than Halloween. Fingers crossed for a big whoosh soon, but I think it'll take 2 whooshes to get me there, and I tend to stall for weeks in between. We'll see. But I was a new low again today at 174.2. I'm really hoping to see a 173.x this weekend.
Phaedra, you were so close to the 160s 2 weeks ago, have you seen them yet?

Lacerta 10-05-2019 11:12 AM

Thanks. I got another new low this morning, a bit of a small whoosh, anyway, as it was about a pound down today to 173.4.

And I'd take inches lost over scale loss any day. Way to go.

Phaedra 10-07-2019 10:43 AM

Hey Lacerta Thanksgiving works too. JMO. Don't get so focused on what you don't got that you forget to celebrate what you do got. You've done an awesome job so far. :carrot::carrot::carrot: :carrot::carrot:

I did dip to 169.8 one day but the next day it was right back up there. I seem to have settled in at 171 to 172.

Ive loosened up on the food weighing and measuring. Being so focused on what I was eating made me think about food too much. Which made me want to eat all the time. Im staying away from the bad stuff and Im still checking the carbs and the cakories in stuff.

So for now Im just going to stay focused on maintaining what I got. I can fit into most of my clothes now. If I manage to lose some good If I don't Im not going to stress over it.

Its Fall. Its Red Head Season. Ill be flauntin me stuff. And it fits. Yay. :carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot:

Lacerta 10-07-2019 08:50 PM

Ha, red head season. Aren't they all? I love red hair. I was always jealous as a child of my one cousin who had beautiful red hair. I've thought about dying mine red, but it always seemed like too much maintenance, and I'm a low maintenance girl. Maybe one day.

Thanks for the reminder. I actually feel great and I'm really living a good life right now. While I AM tracking the weight and LOVE to see the new numbers on the scale (173.2 today, another new low), I'm really more interested in losing inches at this point. I would really love to see the 150s, but if I could get my chest, waist and hip measurements all down another 5" each, that'd be infinitely better, whatever the scale says. I've always been one who has lost and gained proportionately, so I tend to lose all over, which means that 5" off each is not an unreasonable goal.

I'm trying to make sure I get some strength training in of some sort or another most days. I'm not going to any gyms, but I do have dumbbells. I'm up to a 60 second plank, I can do 8 knee pushups, and I've gone from doing 7 leg lifts, to 30. Other workout moves are also progressing, so I'm feeling stronger and stronger. I'm also getting a bit more bendy, although still not as bendy as I was 10 years ago at a higher weight, but after stretching 3-4 times a week for a year straight. Years of deskwork has given me TIGHT hamstrings. But I'm sticking with it and making progress, and that's what counts. I can reach my calves now instead of just my knees, or my knees instead of not even being able to get in the position. Progress.

Lacerta 10-12-2019 11:11 AM

172.2 this morning. That puts me in the bottom quarter of this thread. Home stretch. I'm also down 1/2" on all of my torso measurements so far this month, yay!

Lacerta 10-13-2019 12:15 PM

The whoosh continues - 171.6 today. Probably about done now, I expect to hang out around here for a while.

Phaedra 10-18-2019 06:35 PM

Lacerta 171.6 Wont be long and you will be heading for the 160's. Im still holding at 171-172. Lots of things going on here. Normally I would be self medicating with homemade desserts. So holding is good. :D

Lacerta 10-20-2019 09:44 AM

Phaedra: Holding is great. I've come to accept the fact that not all weeks are going to be amazing weeks where I lose 2+ pounds. Or even great weeks where I lose 1 pound. Some weeks are going to be just hold my ground weeks. And that's ok too. If you can have a hold your ground lifestyle, interspersed with occasional weeks where you have time to devote to really focusing your mental energy on making forward progress, you'll get there in the long run.

Having said that, this month has been really good for me. Maybe it's because September was so not good. The work is finally paying off. Somehow, I woke up this morning at 169.8. I don't count it to move to the next thread until my average is in the 160s, so I'm still here for probably a few more weeks, but that was amazing to see this morning. I am going to start scoping out a 160s thread. Since you've dipped your toes in the 160s water too, I bet we both move over there about the same time.

Phaedra 10-23-2019 11:57 PM

Hi Lacerta
Glad youre having such a good month. You might need to start a new thread. I didn't see a 160's thread.

Don't count me in too quick. !74.4 this morning. Could just be water weight. Not going to get excited unless it keeps going up.

Lacerta 10-25-2019 10:23 AM

Phaedra
I found one. It's old and tired and no one has posted in it for a while, but I found one and rezzed it from the dead. I weighed in at 168.4 this morning, and have been under 170 most of this week, so I'm going to go ahead and move over there and talk to myself until someone joins me (hint hint).

Phaedra 10-25-2019 06:59 PM

I wish. Sorry. 172.8 Congrats on your move.

I see that 160's thread. I will subscribe so I can watch and cheer you on. I probably wont be joining you for a while. But Im good with where Im at. My focus now is being vigilant about maintenance so I can continue to stay where Im at. Some days are harder than others.

VickieLou 10-28-2019 11:15 AM

I finally reached the 170's. Good Luck, Everyone!

Phaedra 10-31-2019 07:24 PM

Weighed myself this AM. 176.6. ACK!!!! Okay. Now Im excited. And a little peeved. I haven't even had anything good like pie and Im still gaining. I have relaxed on the counting calories and the measuring everything I eat. But Im still watching what I eat. Guess Im not watching good enough. Back to calorie counting. (Sigh)
