Well I have had no sugar or dried fruits for over two weeks now, and only small amounts of fruits. like handful of grapes or one apple. And I'm doing fine. But to mentally let sugar go and know I won't ever consider it an ok food for myself is quite tough - but I will get over it, I know I will! It's totally worth it.

So, my dear lady, I tracked my meals today on Cronometer (thank you again for that!). I ended up with 39 g of net carbs (and 1350 calories). That was without any effort to reduce carbs. I had vegetable soup with white potato which turned out to be high on carbs and I had some grapes too. If I watched carbs more closely, I think I could transition to keto now...but first I want to finish what I have started :) Anyway I was quite pleased about it, it doesn't seem I am far away from keto diet the way I eat now. And I feel happy. Adding butter, cheese or even cream sounds like an amazing improvement of my current diet, as long as I know they are ok for my digestive tract.

39g of net carbs is awesome - perfect keto. You can do it ronja! Sugar is so hard to quit though. It'll never be ok for me either but it's so worth doing.

Day 13
B: Tuna in can, fresh tomatoes, handful of wallnuts, teaspoon of coconut oil
L: Vegetable soup, two eggs
D: Egg omelette, tomatoes, handful of cashews

Nearly halfway there ronja :cheer2:

I can completely relate to what you say. I have also had an unhealthy appetite for nearly all of my life and what you have achieved on this program is valuable and I don't blame you for cutting the trigger foods out of your life! You are doing such a great job and you are doing it while taking care of little ones, you are like superwoman!!!

Ronja 09-18-2017 02:24 PM

Thank you, you amazing ladies! Unfortunately, I am not doing so well anymore. We had spent the weekend away and I didn't have a solid plan about my meals - which turned out to be a problem. I went off plan and just today I'm trying to get back to my plan. I didn't overeat or overindulge, but I didn't follow my plan either. In theory, I should start Whole30 all over gain, but I'm not going to - I will just continue for 2 more weeks and then try to introduce dairy. If that turns out well, I will probably transition to keto diet or LCHF.

I ate gluten over the weekend and it made me feel really sick, so I know for now that gluten is out either way.

Today:

Day 14: Back on track

B: Slice of minced meat on the run
L: Vegetable soup, minced meat and tomatoes. Apple.
D: Scrambled eggs, tomatoes. Banana.

MrsMcsMuffins 09-18-2017 02:34 PM

You're back on track now though ronja. You've done amazingly well. I don't know if I could do whole 30 - it's hardcore :D

Good for you for getting right back on track. I think that's the key. The longer you wait, the harder it is. My goal for today is no sugar. I'm not going to think about tomorrow or next week or next month. I'm just going to focus on today and getting the sugar out of my system.

Ronja
You have been wonderful! I am very proud of you  Since I have been doing low carb for so long I understand what it feels like to go off plan and how those foods effect your system. I did not cut out dairy however all flour products and high carb veggies and all fruit. I don't miss the sugar really. I have in the last few months allow myself potato and pizza crust made with almond flour which is pretty good actually.

Keep up the great work and I will keep lurking

Thank you so much for your support and encouragement ladies, I really needed and it made all the difference. You are wonderful!
I am incredibly busy, my baby has pneumonia (not too bad, thanks God) but I will pop in later to fill in the missing days!

MrsMcsMuffins 09-20-2017 03:33 PM

Get well soon baby

nancylmrn 09-20-2017 06:07 PM

My oldest had pneumonia when she was a baby and spent 5 days in the hospital....I know how it is, give her a hug and a kiss

kfunk6113 09-21-2017 07:46 AM

Ronja It is so impressive that you got back on track!! I hope that your daughter gets well very soon, poor baby girl

Ronja 09-21-2017 09:46 AM

Thank you so much! She is better, God be praised. Now I am down with a sinnus infection but I can manage that, unlike when my baby is sick - I find that very difficult to deal with (just like every mother I guess!)

Appart from that, I'm going strong on Whole30 again. I lost track of days a little so I will just continue when I dropped off.

Day 16:
S: Eggs and bacon, fresh tomatoes, carrot
L: Vegetable soup, ground beef, tomatoes, apple, handful of cashews
Snack: Small piece of beef, olive oil, grapes
D: Lunch leftovers

I have learnt that while "snacking" is discouraged on Whole30, you are not meant to be starving either. For people who are highly physically active or for pregnant/breastfeeding mothers, or simply very hungry, the authors recommend adding a fourth meal. It's just not meant to be a snack, but rather complete meal as it should look like on Whole30: reasonable portion of protein and small portion of fat completed with lot of vegetable. I am technically still breastfeedding but my baby is growing up so I don't consider myself a breastfeeding mother for this purpose (I feed my girl maybe three times a day only). Today though, I'm a sick breastfeeding mother of a sick child so I afforded myself one extra meal :)

kfunk6113 09-23-2017 10:48 AM

ronja So glad that your baby is better, but I am sorry to hear you have a sinus infection, they are painful!!

Good for you adapting the program to your needs, that is what will make you a success story!!
