Hi all,
After doing some research, I'm going to be trying out intermittent fasting. I've gone back through a lot of the threads here but would love to hear from people currently on the plan. I don't quite have a handle on all the numbers and lingo (16:8? 5:2? These look more like time signatures than anything else to my musician's brain.)
I'm fully keto and have been for about 2 months, I've lost 14 pounds with that change but am stagnating right now. So, if seems to tout the ability to help break out of that with other benefits as well.
I'm skipping breakfast (well, unless you count black coffee/espresso, which most of what I have read do not) and eating between 1 and 8pm. Water throughout and maybe tea. And then, again, keto when I do eat.
Anyone have any pointers or just general experience? I'd appreciate any input or people who want to buddy up or anything. Thanks!
Check out the FastDay site. It is slow now, but there are lots of threads to help you on your way. Good luck! I did IF 5:2 for a few months to kick start my loss. I now kinda-sorta IF. I weekly calorie average and if it looks like I will go over 9000 calories in a week, one day either before or after the big calorie day that puts me over - I fast. Sometimes just water, but most times I just try to limit to around 400 calories. IF has been great in helping me adjust during weeks my calorie intake is more than I need to keep it at to lose. A "true" 5:2er doesn't count calories at all. But, I know myself and that wouldn't work right now. Maybe when I get to my goal weight... we will see.
What I REALLY appreciated the most from IF is learning that I WILL NOT DIE if I am hungry and have to wait a few hours to eat. Really an eye opener for me. I also learned that often, sometimes I think I am hungry when I am really thirsty, or tired, or bored, or....
