Jeans/Inches Question
 

Hi. First off, I'm sorry I haven't been around in awhile! I really do need to start coming back a lot/all the time. Secondly, I'm not sure where to put this, so please move it if in the wrong sub-forum.

I have an inches/pants size question. A little back story, I purchased a pair of 14W petite jeans two days before Christmas. They were a bit loose on me, but not enough to go down a size. I didn't take my measurements until 4 Jan.

I have checked the site for the clothing company. Here are the measurements.

Waist: 34-35.5" | Hips: 41.5-43" (website, sizing chart)

Waist: 40.5" | Hips: 48" (4 Jan measurements)


Question: How can a size 14W fit me, if my measurements are much more than the website says??

When I've purchased clothes from the internet, the sizing seems to be more a matter of luck for me than the actual measurements listed on the website! I've really kind of given up on much internet shopping - until the site offers free shipping AND has a brick and morter location where I can return what doesn't fit. It really annoys me no end to spend $$ on shipping both ways and end up with nothing!

Have you measured the actual jeans to see how close they are to the stated measurements?

I sometimes think that the measurements of the clothing are WAY off - or they're measuring hip/waist/bust in a different location than where the garment fits on my body.
