Diana You are going to inspire so many others with your amazing loss now that you have updated your ticker. It demonstrates what can be done with determination and sticking to a good plan no matter what.

Diana - that is such an inspiration to see how you have done so well and sticking at it
IanG - I love fish but my OH hates it, so I tend to eat it if we go out or if he is away!
midnight12 - 517 calories! I think I would chew my arm off if I ate so little!
Sundove - I wonder if my weight gain today is a salt related thing. Maybe I should try and track that for a few weeks to see. But I struggle enough doing my food diary!
upandaway - 8lbs in a week is really great. I never lose weight that quick unless I cant eat!
LarryH - another inspiration!
Nichollsfamily - that sounds horrid weather. We are just stuck in an endless cycle of rain and mud here. Luckily my area hasnt had the floods the north of England has had, but its still wet permanently. I hope you did manage to get that walk in.

I was feeling really good this weekend. A week of generally doing well on the food front and really well on the exercise front saw my weight go 181.5 - 180.7 - 179.3. So i was chuffed to be in the 170s again.
the this morning 182.
Drat!

However last night OH did insist on taking me out for dinner to an all you can eat world food buffet place. I ate mainly the currys and tried to not eat too much but it wasnt great and I bet it was high in salt and additives. I was hungry too as had eaten very little during the day and been for a long, very hilly and muddy dog walk.
Annoyingly when I make a curry myself it is really tasty and healthy so that makes it doubly annoying.
Much healthier food planned today and off to the gym tonight for a bit of cardio and then bodybalance.

Good morning all,

181.7, up from the weekend. Going to make some tweaks this week. Making my breakfast smoothie and lunch, logged everything from the weekend in MFP.

Flower enjoy, sounds wonderful.

Ian good to see you, glad to hear all is well!

Diana glad you're feeling a little better, if the Advil is helping take it, I get stubborn with taking stuff sometimes, then suffer needlessly...silly of me.

Have a great day everyone

Diana - I can't believe you exercised! You're awesome and your weight ticker inspires me! I really hope you feel better soon. It sounds like you've made a connection between your hormones and the angioedema. Hormones are affected by stress so whether it's your period or cortisol, it sounds like you've zeroed in on a hormonal link. Have you ever considered going to one of those docs who checks all your hormone levels?

Daydreamer I'm a clicker. I don't like going to stores. Pretty much only go with my daughter. Lots of places have free returns. You can print the shipping label and take it to your local UPS store. The only thing is that you'll need to buy a new box if you haven't saved the one your item was packed in.

Flower Enjoy. It sounds like you're having a great time!

Nicholsfamily I'm not crazy about cold weather but I'd rather have cold than hot. We're just getting cold here in Philadelphia. Yesterday it was in the 60's. Today, it'll be a still moderate but much more normal January high of low 30's.

Ciecie I hope you enjoyed your Edy's!

Larry You look great! Congrats on your new Shriners position! I love those Shriners hats!

Upandaway Congrats on another 2 pounds!

CoolMom Good job keeping on. And yes, there is a lot to catch up on.

Sundove I watch my sodium by trying not to eat packaged food, but I no longer watch the salt I add. The reason is that I use Celtic Grey sea salt and I grind it out onto my food. That kind of salt does not make me retain water or raise my blood pressure. Supposedly the Celtic Grey salt is minerally balanced and so your body doesn't retain. It sort of sounds hokey to me BUT all I can tell you is that so long as I don't eat processed food I have no issues with water retention or high blood pressure so I think there's something to it.I'm a saltaholic. I'm like that creature in the old Star Trek series who lived on salt. Regular table salt will give me problems as will eating things like canned soup or frozen dinners. Supposedly the Celtic Grey salt is minerally balanced and so your body doesn't retain. It sort of sounds hokey to me BUT all I can tell you is that so long as I don't eat processed food I have no issues with water retention or high blood pressure so I think there's something to it.

Midnight I don't know how you keep your calories so low. I would be too weak to exercise and possibly too hungry to sleep.

Novangel Feel better!

Kelijpa Ugh. Sorry about the fluctuation in the wrong direction. But it'll be down in no time.

Ian It's good to see you. I wish I liked fish. I can't even stand the smell of it.

Whoops. Finished all the personals and forgot to do my own check in. Today I start week 2 of couch to 5k. I sort of took the weekend off but I did get in my 10k steps on Saturday. Sunday I was a bum and lazed around. Went out to dinner once and then grilled steaks another night. (In January. In Philadelphia)! In a nutshell, I ate too much bread and drank too much wine. Not weighing myself again until Wednesday when this bread and wine bloat should be gone.

Diana WOW on your loss AND maintaining!!! I hope your ticker inspires you like it does me!

Volatis Sounds like sodium. Congrats on a good week and on making good choices eating out. The scale will get back down into the 170s--WTG! i've been reading about the horrid weather in England--yikes! I'm glad you aren't flooded.

Treasa Interesting about the Celtic Grey sea salt--it could be that there is less sodium in the mix and more other minerals that do not retain water. Good that it works for you! My approach to salt is not to worry about it w weight loss, since it is nothing more than water, not fat. But right now when i am trying to get my body in the swing of losing, a downward direction on the scale is oh so motivating! So if I change my salt intake by adding processed foods, I have to accept that I may not see the same drop. But eventually it will level out. The processed salty foods are low calorie and make my meals more pleasant. It wouldn't be good to fool around with that right now. But it sure is eye-opening to see how much sodium in canned products like kidney beans! Gonna definitely switch to soaking the dried ones.

WI this am down a bit, 172.2 BF% 32.1 yesterday calories 1700 snacky day
B Tomato omelet, protein shake, coffee
L Salad, grilled chicken, tofu, beans, 0-cal dsg, apple
S Hot & sour soup, protein shake, sauteed cabbage
D Hot & sour soup
S Cauliflower w coconut oil, turkey chili

TGIM--no i'm not crazy, just acknowledging it maybe easier to stay OP for some of us!

Sundove - Oh, for me it's a question of health and that's why I had to make the switch. If I didn't have to worry about painful water retention and blood pressure, no question I'd be eating lean cuisines and Campbell's soup. I really, really love salt.

Got it Treasa! I'm so glad you found the Celtic salt.

Overall I feel better, less cravings & hunger if I avoid processed food. But my turkey chili is so dry without that tomato sauce. I know that salt could have a direct impact my health, too, so it's on my radar to limit.

Volatis - it sound like sodium to me too! That's why I'm actually not getting back on the scale until Wednesday. I need to lose my weekend bloat. Restaurant food is waaaaaaaaay salty. Of course, having a few too many glasses of wine adds to my weekend bloat and probably my actual weight. That wine is pure sugar. At least salt doesn't mess with your insulin.

Oh man- when was the last time I stopped by??
I've had quite a hectic weekend. We were supposed to leave in the morning to go up to northern VT for skiing, but my mom was having eye issues. Being the self-care type she is, she wanted to go in to the eye doctor saturday morning to make sure everything was okay. So we packed up the car, I put my rabbit in his travel basket, all got in, and stopped there before we continued on our way. The doctor told her it didn't seem like there were any tears in the retina but she should go to a specialist just to be certain.
So she called the specialist and they couldn't make an appointment until sunday. So, after two hours of waiting at the eye doctor, we headed back to the house and had to leave the next day.
The next day, my parents went to the eye specialist and turns out my mom's retina was torn! Luckily, it was a very quick fix- just laser eye surgery and a week or so of low-impact exercise to avoid causing further injury. The doc told her if she put off going right away, it would've gotten much worse very quickly and would've require a more intensive surgery and a longer recovery time. So glad it was okay!
So then we wound up leaving sunday afternoon in the terrible storm, but arrived around 7:30.

I definitely ate way too much friday through sunday, but vacation mixed with also getting my period is enough of an excuse for me! Today I'm trying to get back on track.

B: nuts (200)
L: broccoli, beans, chips, hummus (800)
D: veggie burger, broccoli, tortilla chips and salsa (1400)
s: cookie, chocolate (1600)

Exercise was some skiing- just two runs. Conditions are bad, and I have to admit, I really don't enjoy it like I did when I was younger. I'm a little sick of being dragged along on these family vacations. I love my family and think spending time with them is so important, but it's so tiring and stressful.
I also went swimming for a bit and soaked in the hot tub

Now I'm just trying to do some muscle work just to keep the momentum going. I really hope when school starts back up next week I don't lose all motivation

Hi Everyone!

Thank you for the support about the ticker.

Tomorrow is my follow up ultra sound for the ovarian cyst. I would appreciate any prayers you could send my way. I am hoping it has at least shrunk, even better if it's gone.

DH is watching the National College Championships (is that what it's called? ) I just called it the College Super Bowl. That works for me! Go Tigers! I bought DH some snacks for the game. He ate all the snacks before the game even started. OOPS!

Flower I would totally be enjoying the foods you are having.

Ciecie Great job on the 1/4 cup of ice cream. I'm glad you were able to enjoy in moderation.

Voltis I bet the gain is from the sodium in the curry and your dinner. Hang in there. It will pass.

Kelijpa Great job logging everything and working your plan.

Larry Hi

Treasa I have had some hormone levels tested, but not all. Both of the allergists said that it usually passes with time. Although my regular Dr. disagrees with that. Who knows. Good luck with week 2 of couch 2 5K.

Sundove TGIM, LOL. What worse than having to get up in the AM? Having to get up Monday AM!

CoolMom Yay for the new bike! I hope it warms up so you can ride it.

DayDreamer Did you get that workout in?

Leli Good job on your day. I hope it warms up and a better week than you anticipate.

Retrorabbit I'm glad your Mom got checked out and the Dr. fixed the damage to her retina. That's scary.

Midnight Great job on the dancing and your steps!

CieCie Great job with your daily posts.

Waving Hi all around! Enjoy your evening!
