Yet another reason to hate getting periods!

Only in the last year have I become so flippin' hungry right before my period hits. It seems to last a week. I want to eat EVERYTHING and never feel full.
It's becoming so hard to avoid the temptations!
Does anyone else have this issue? Is there anyway to deal?
UGH! I'm going berserk - and having Halloween candy all over the office is not helping!

Possibly need to up your vitamins or similar?

Kristeebee 10-30-2015 02:10 PM

Hmmm, I eat well... I wonder what vitamins would do the trick?

Well I am guilty of drinking coffee.
I don't drink dairy, though... I drink almond milk.
I have a lot of salmon...
Hmm, I don't know. I'll have to look into this further.

Omg, I am so hungry the week before. And so many cravings, some months salty, some months sweet. Trying to indulge in small ways but still stay under my calories. Plus the bloating and weight fluctuations, ugh. So ready to not have periods, haha. The one thing to truly look forward to about aging.

Penny105 10-30-2015 07:03 PM

Yep, I get that. I particularly crave carb-heavy foods. As for how I handle it... Well, my period will hit probably within the next week, so I should be heading into that craving zone soonish. I'll let you know!

But I definitely get bloated (usually 2-5 lbs of fluid), but it's a nice whoosh afterward!

Oh yes, definitely!... Uhm, let's just say I turn into a living, breathing stereotype of a woman on her period. I become a chocolate monster lol. And I have serious issues staying away. Good thing none of my favorites are easily accessible where I live, that would've been a disaster.

Yes, a thousand times yes.

I struggle with this issue as well. I've read somewhere that we really do need extra calories before our period arrives. I'm going to allow myself to eat at maintenance and not to weigh myself until afterwards to see if that helps.

Kristeebee 11-02-2015 02:25 PM

I'm glad to see I'm not alone.
Finally, sweet relief... my period hit last night and my ravenous cravings have subsided.
There has to be something we can do!

Cali Doll 11-02-2015 05:52 PM

Now, I'm at the point of being normal for two weeks and being ravenous for two weeks. Adding insult to injury, during the ravenous two weeks, I'm retaining water. It's unfair!!

I have one week of PMS (Sun to the next Tuesday) and then Tues through Sunday is period week....two weeks of being hungry and fat!!

luckymommy 11-02-2015 06:25 PM

Cali Doll, I hear ya! I joke with my friends that between PMS and my period, I only get a few "good days" per month! Menopause is starting to look quite appealing, but then we'll be complaining about hot flashes. Being a woman is not easy, but I wouldn't prefer to be a man. ;)

Here we go, girls. I'm day two into my two solid weeks of chronic hunger, water-retention, crankiness.

Please be thinking of me. It's really troublesome for me.

gigantosaurus 11-10-2015 02:30 AM

i'm sorry cali doll - sending good vibes your way!

i wish i knew of some way to end the madness, but i'm in the same boat as all of you. the week before my period, i am a bottomless pit (and i also retain a boatload of water, cali doll!) i usually just give in a reasonable amount and allow myself to eat quite a bit more, and then cut back the next week when i'm back to normal.
