Bummed :(

I waited 6 days to see the scale move. It finally did, almost a full pound. I was so excited. Went out with my boyfriend Saturday night, played pool and had some drinks. Still payed attention to calories from food. Weighed this morning and I'm up 2lbs. Wth man? Ugh.

Probably just a sodium gain. What did you eat?

It will drop in a few days.

Freya0991 01-26-2015 04:28 PM

Hi texasma,

I've had this happen several times before. I've gone weeks before the scale would change - so frustrating when you are doing everything right! My experience with sudden weight gains is water weight. It will pass

TheLastStraw323 01-26-2015 04:30 PM

Sodium/water retention is the devil.

Stay on plan and those 2 pounds plus will be gone by the weekend. Drink lots of water too.

Saturday I had a grilled cheese and a few tortilla chips for lunch, for dinner was about a 9oz steak and some corn. Sunday I had a low cal sandwich from a local sandwich shop, and dinner was a small serving of lasagna and a couple bites of garlic bread. I think I did pretty good calorie wise except for the drinks Saturday night.

Thanks for the replies. I do hope it's all just water and will be gone soon. Do you think I would benefit from taking a diuretic since I'm so prone to water weight gain?

IanG 01-26-2015 08:15 PM

Eating that stuff will definitely give you a sodium gain. I am talking everything you ate.

As to diuretics, I would not bother. Water weight will always haunt you. You just have to live with the fluctuations. And it can cut the other way too. Alcohol is a diuretic for me. If I drink a couple of beers or wine I will drop a lot of weight to see it crawl back up the next few days as the water returns.

I get swings of +/-5lbs with water. Easily.

If I had periods on top of that, I'd be f@cked!

Ian, lol, that made me rofl. Thanks!! :-)

LOL Ian!!

Definitely water. I too can fluctuate 5 lbs of water weight. Get back on track, drink more water. Eat foods that help drop sodium...bananas, lemons....and drink water!

texasma 01-27-2015 12:23 PM

I'm trying to drink more water but I've never liked water much so its hard. I weighed again last night when I got home from work and I had gone up another pound, for a total of 3. This morning 2 of the lbs have come off but the other one is still hangin' around.

mandykent111 01-27-2015 01:22 PM

Don't get discouraged, this will happen. Just continue to work at it and stay on track and focused. It's probably the extra sodium like everyone is talking about. When you do decide to have a couple drinks, be sure to drink plenty of water and maybe eat a small healthy snack beforehand.

Texasma, I hate water for the most part too. Or rather, I hate the taste of our tap water and running it through a filter doesn't appear to help. I'd rather not buy bottled, so instead I use Mio/Kool Aid Liquid. Depending on your stance on artificial sweeteners that may or may not work for you.. but having a zero calorie water flavorer works for me, and I get in all the water I need for the day. Hope you can find something that works for you.

Fluffypuppy 01-27-2015 02:37 PM

I don't like water either. I was gonna suggest Mio like sunarie. I drink a lot of "diet" ocean spray brand juice. More hydrating than diet pop but still artificial sweeteners. Not sure how you feel about that. But it's 10 cals a cup.
