I started back to work yesterday and it has really helped to get back into my normal routine! I have done really good with calories! I lifted yesterday and I plan to walk about an hour with my friend tonight!
Keep up the good work everyone!!:D |
checkin' in
hey everyone,
I have been AWOL from the site for a day, but still on program for this week. Back to back days of tough cardio yesterday and today and a Pilates session in between! I've got some troubles going on with my health this week, and now I am wrestling with insurance and doctors which, while stressful and time-consuming...not interfering with my boot camp pledges!:D I don't have much time to write today and tomorrow I am leaving for a 3-day weekend in Vancouver (visiting my best friend!). I plan to go hiking/walking 2 out of the 3 days I am away, that will give me my 5 workouts for the week. Gotta fit in one piece of fresh berry pie...thats IT :T Take care everyone. We can do this :strong: shauna |
Hey all,
I have met my goal of getting in 3 days of exercise this week and kept a food journal today. Simcoe - Thanks for the support. Keep up the good work. |
Good Evening Bootcamp Buddies! :drill:
Happy to report that all is well here! I'm getting in my exercise, water and fairly healthy choices --- I did have a run in with some pasta at a working lunch yesterday. :hun: Tomorrow is my weigh in day and this weekend I'll do my monthly measurements. No matter what those things say I saw a major accomplishement today when I decided to officially retire my favorite pair of black pants because.....they are too big and baggy to wear to work anymore!!! :) Hope everyone is doing well and staying strong. :barbell: Catch ya later! Barb :D |
Hey girls. Barb...congrats on getting rid of the flabby pants. Last week I took two green garbage bags full of "too big"clothes to the Salvation Army. They were all way too big and I was holding onto them as kind of a comfort. Now I am down to about one pair of jeans and two pairs of shorts!!! I was in Old Navy trying on jeans a couple of days ago, which was a frustrating experience. I am no longer a size 18, but not quite a size 16, so I think that I have got about another month to go for new pants. At least the size is going in the right direction.
Dixie, way to go with the food journal and exercise. I had one of those nights tonight where I was starving, so I had one cup of shreddies, no sugar, with raisins and skim milk. That seemed to do the trick. Could not get motivated to go for a walk either, so I mowed the lawn instead. We have an acre, so it took about 45 minutes and I was sweating in the end. Oh yeah, and I did my weekly weigh in today and have dropped a pound to 177. Slow and steady wins the race. :) Have a good one. |
Second day at bootcamp
Well, I made it thru another day without chips! Then while I was thinking about the week in general, I realized I haven't had any chips or junkfood this week at all! Go ME!!
I figure in the old saying "Takes 21 days to make or break a habit." Which means I'm 1/3 of the way thru! Have a great weekend folks. |
Still checking in here (though sometimes I just read) but last week was a bad one for my WI - I could tell when I woke up that I felt all sluggish and bloated. Ah, well - next week will be ever so much better!
|
Hi ladies!
Sorry for being AWOL for several days. Last week was just a rough week. It was okay for food but had to work late two nights, had a haircut & highlight appt one night and a nail fill and pedicure appt the next night, then we were off to my mom's & the lake for the day yesterday, and today...shopping with my MIL. Sheesh. No time at home for me. :( I didn't lose all control with the food. I did walk the dog at night and did my planned morning exercises. I just didn't get any time on the spinner. Tomorrow, I'm riding along with my brother as we're headed about 3-1/2 hours east for our uncle's funeral. He passed away on Thursday. He was 81 and has had many bouts of "he can't survive this" sicknesses lately so, it is a blessing. We haven't been extremely close in the later years but its family and we want to be there for our cousins. Monday will be back on track starting bright and early. Have a great rest of the weekend! |
let's see...
Been MIA for a bit...just busy at work, and then busy after work. I had a really good week - for the first time I actually hit my goal of 6 hours (360 min) of exercise during the week, so I'm very proud of that! Sounds like everyone has been doing well - keep up the good work!!!! Terri, my condolences to you and your family on your Uncle's passing.
I did well on food, and yesterday I had a planned free day and took full advantage of that...went with friends to the Colorado Shakespeare Festival to see "The Taming of the Shrew", then out for "truck stop" food. But today I'm back on track. Not sure that the official weigh-in tomorrow is going to show a loss tho, because TOM is here and good lord am I ever bloated! Plan for this week, the usual with food and water, I'm seeing the evil trainer 3 times this week, and I'm again going for a goal of 360 minutes of exercise. :strong: Have a great week ladies! psm :) |
Hello, I'm back again. I was out of it last week due to a medical situation that arose. I'm having an MRI tomorrow, but I'm feeling better. I'm more determined than ever to meet my August goal, which I've adjusted to be 140 pounds by the end of the month. I need to keep on track! I got 2 great workouts in over the weekend and my eating has been pretty much in check. I'm gonna make it! My interim goal is 135 by October 15. I can do it! :)
|
Hi ladies..back from the weekend, where like most of you, it is too busy to post. Had a good one though, went to our town fair, ate fries and ice cream, but did not overdo it. Actually, now that eating healthy is a habit, when I do revert back, I usually feel like crap afterward. I think my body is just not used to that stuff anymore. Does not mean at all that I don't enjoy it, I just don't over indulge. My husband was having a snickers bar last night for a snack; I had 1/2 cup of frozen yogurt with a sliced peach. I was soooo glad I did. I new that I was eating well, and my sweet tooth was being satisfied. It is nice to finally be there ;) .
I have not been doing "traditional" exercise, but just keeping active. Doing lots of walking, bike riding, gardening, etc. I do my free weights at home so I can keep on track with my strength training. Hope all is well with everyone else. |
Hi ladies!
Yesterday was longer than I expected. We didn't get home until 12:30 am and I did not sleep well. I have been a slug all day. Thank goodness I had planned today as a vacation day before all this came up. I did do some mall walking (shopping) and just finished 30 very light minutes on the spinner. Oh, and I tried my Winsor Pilates DVD. Yowsa! This one is going to take a long time but I can tell its going to work lots of muscles that aren't getting it now. Slow and steady! Food is good. I've got it logged into balancelog and I'm still within reason. I need to get in more water to make up for my lack thereof the last few days. I'm off to do more housework and laundry. Have a great evening! |
Busy, busy weekend - I checked in but didn't post. I still need to find a regular "chatty" thread I'm comfortable in - haven't taken the time to do it yet. Later, when life slows down - or so goes my theory.
|
Hi ladies. Made it through the day. This was one of those days where I felt hungry all day :( . I just seemed to be a bit out of sorts. I made the mistake of going out for a few hours after lunch and not taking a snack with me. By the time I was able to do anything about, I was starving, and grabbed a chocolate bar. Actually, in the final calorie count, it ended up not being too bad, but I felt that I could have done better.
I had a church meeting tonight and got home just in time to watch the Discovery Health Challenge on TV, but the digital cable was not working!!! This is usually where I get lots of ideas and inspiration from, so that was not good either. Now I have a headache!!! Ugghhh! On the plus side, everytime I had to do an errand in town, I took my bike. Took a break from the free weights tonight. Okay...rant over and looking forward to another positive tomorrow;) . |
Hi ladies, checking in tonight.
1. I walked Sunday night; yesterday I washed my car for a half hour instead of walking. 2. No fast food, other than Subway yesterday and tonight. 3. Still writing down what I eat. Not much else to report, so I will check back later. Good night. |
Rise and shine bootcampers!
Can you believe we're just about to the middle point of the challenge already? Yesterday was a good food day. Sure feels good to be back on our eating plan. Yippee! I got on the scale this morning and its dipping down again and I can't wait until its official at WW WI. I didn't get in my spinner time last night. I bought a new laptop and wireless cable router on the way home from work last night. I was consumed with getting it installed so that I can use my laptop upstairs and access the internet. I had it all going, posted here on 3FC and then sat the computer down to go walk the dog. When I got back, I no longer had internet access and now, in all my screwing around, cannot get the wireless router available again. :censored: Good grief, this stuff is so complicated these days. I guess I'll have to call tech support tonight and see what I did wrong. of course, the user manuals are practically non-existant. However, I did get in a very vigorous dog walk as the temps have taken a turn to lower humidity so both the dog and I were invigorated. I was more invigorated than he by the end though. Wish me luck on getting my laptop squared away. I will do my time on the spinner first tonight! See ya! |
Yeah! I'm down a pound, finally. I weighed in yesterday at 143. I need to lose 3 more pounds to reach my August goal. My September goal is to drop another 5 pounds to get to 135. I'll be a super happy camper if I can be 135 or below by October 15.
I had an MRI and MRA yesterday. What a strange experience. Tomorrow I'm going to a new gynecologist. Fun stuff (yeah, right!)...but necessary. Good Luck Everybody! :) |
Terri, good luck with the puter. I think that they were designed by men to drive us crazy!
Congrats on the pound loss Genesis, and for continuing to write down your eating Dixie. That alone was a big turning point for me; if you have to write it down, then you really ate it!! Feeling better today and went for a long walk with my Mom through out town's pioneer village. It is amazing that you can live in a tourist town and never do the tourist stuff. We walked down to the lake today also, which we never do. I think that your humidity has moved up here, Terri, because today we are dying. I want to ride my bike to the grocery store later, but we will have to see what the heat is like. Take care all. |
Hi ladies,
Another night spent trying to make the wireless connection working again. Now, I KNOW that a man designed their customer support process. You have to do it via email and they give you a one line box to enter your problem. I typed in "I bought a ...laptop with wireless router....and I installed it and everything went just fine." At that point I hit enter thinking it would scroll down but NO, it submitted that as my request for help. I finally got the opportunity to write a dissertation last night, now we'll see if they write back. i was soooo frustrated last night. So, no spinner time or dog walk for me last night. But, this am I got up and did my morning exercises on schedule. have a great day! |
I'm not doing so well right now, but I did want to check in and let you ladies know I'm still out there. I don't know how much I'll be posting this month especially if I can't drag myself out of this funk, but I'm going to try and NOT give up on the weight loss for august - although right now I'm 3 pounds heavier than I was at the start of the month...that doesn't bode well for me being able to meet my goal.

:drill: :drill:
Ok bootcampers, I feel a little waning of the enthusiasm going on. Me included. Its the dog days of summer but lets not get us down. If you're struggling, make one goal for the day that is achievable and don't sweat the rest. I was going to WW WI this morning but think I'm going to pass. We've had a resurrgence of humidity that hit yesterday. We had tickets to the ballgame last night and it was hot and miserable. So, I've got some water weight going due to not enough water drank. I've already scoped out a meeting for Wednesday A.M. I haven't done as much cardio as I had wanted this week. I've spent too much time on the new computer. I've got balance log installed on it and set up for both DH and I. Now I can log my stuff during the day on my palm and hot sync it to the laptop and track DH on the laptop as well. I didn't use to think it necessary to count calories when I had WW tools to use but I am liking this so much better. Okay, now I need to get my butt moving and clean house and find lots of activity around the house today. Let's get regrouped and kickin' butt because we're worth it! :drill: :drill: |
Hello Ladies!
I have been so busy the past week I haven't had time to post! I have reached a plateau for 6 weeks now! I am so frustrated! I have increased my exercise but that isn't even working. I lifted weights twices this week, I did pilates 3 times and walked 4 miles on Tuesday and 5 miles on Thursday but the scale still hasn't moved. I feel like throwing the scale out the window.:s: I have stayed with my food plan except for friday because we had dinner with my husbands family. I walked 4 miles today and I plan to lift 3 times this week, walk two more times and then pilates 2 times. Good Luck to everyone! |
Hi Ronda,
How many calories are you getting? You're doing great with exercise. Maybe your body isn't getting enough calories for all the exercise. I hate plateaus and they are very unmotivating. Sometimes, we need to back off and let the body have more food. Our natural response is to tighten down the hatches but if we do that each time, soon we wouldn't be able to eat anything. Then there are the other plateaus when we think we're eating perfectly but in reality the portions have gotten bigger than we're counting and we are getting more calories than we think. If you've been eating in a similar mode for a while, maybe you need to shake things up a bit. Over on WW, some people have luck by eating very low in their point ranges one day and then high the next. If you're eating low carbs and higher protein, give your body the carbs and less protein for a day or two. Or vice versa. Just don't give up. Don't let your attitude fall either. Your body will respond soon; just may take some switching around on your routines to get there. Good luck! |
Hello Bootcampers!
Its the start of a new week. We're headed towards the end of our August challenge. Don't give up now! Yesterday was an okay day. DH took me to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch. It was our last lunch together of the summer and we've tried to get in the new place two other times, so yesterday was a special lunch. I had a crabcake sandwich. Weird, good, but not something to eat every week. Different. Then we shared a piece of german chocolate cheesecake. Wonderful! But the portions were way too big and for the price, it was hard to leave food behind. Anyway, I compensated by eating very little breakfast (WW bar and a yogurt) and then had a light sandwich for dinner. No popcorn at the movie either!! This morning, I'm up and have done my morning exercises. I'm now doing 1 set of 8 and 1 set of 6 reps with the 8 lb weights. By month end I should be hitting my goal of 2 sets of 8 with the 8 pounders. I've got a lot more muscle in my upper body than I ever have had. Just still got that layer of flab on the underneath of my arms. I do two types of triceps exercises - hope in time that flab goes away. Today will be back on track with food. DH got a good report yesterday on his diabetes. With our changed eating using South Beach Diet as our guide, he's taken his blood sugar from being almost on insulin to almost manageable without meds. We now know there is no going back. Looks like, Balance Log will be worth the $49. I'm leaving work early today so I'll do 30 minutes on the spinner. I need to work back into my 40+ minute workouts before the month end. TTFN! |
Okay bootcampers!
Now I'm posting all by myself! Today was a much better day. I did my morning exercises and did 30 minutes on the spinner. I didn't go after it hard as its been about two weeks since I've had time for the spinner. But its a start. I think I'll have to pass on the dog walk tonight. Too damn hot! |
Hello booties!
This hasn't been a very good week so far; I haven't been feeling well this week and had to see the doc today. When I don't feel well (especially when I'm in pain) I tend to overeat, mainly due to the stress of having pain. Anyway, doc identified the problem, gave me a couple of prescriptions and told me to drink lots and lots of water and to up the fiber intake. The good news is I had lost 3 more pounds since my last visit on 7/28. No activity so far this week - just haven't felt like it and the heat and humidity make me just feel worse. Have done good staying away from fast food. Later. |
Rise and shine!!
DH is back to school this morning so I've been up since 5:08 am. Good grief. Anyway, I did my morning exercise today and still have time for a post. It will be good to be back to routine of us both up and off to work. I used the 5 lb weights and did only one set of 8 this morning. After using the 8 pounders, the 5 feel like air! Connie - Sorry to hear about you not feeling well and having to go to the doctor. But :bravo: on three more pounds gone! Hope the meds help and you're feeling better soon! Everyone else, hope you're doing okay! Don't give up on the month yet. Its okay to re-evaluate your goals and make a fresh start. Come on back! Have a great day! |
Hello fellow posties!!! Sorry to leave you all alone Terri; I know how it feels. Threads usually start and slowly everyone drops off and there are only two or three left posting. I think that this happened to us last time. Oh well :( .
Actually, last Thursday I was in the middle of posting and just about to push "send" when the lights went out  and stayed that way for the next 24 hours. Two days off the puter really got me out of the habit and I have been struggling to get myself back on ever since. I have been staying on track though and eating well. I am really feeling now that this is becoming "habit" and not something I have to think about all the time. I even went to McDonalds and had the yummy fries (of course), but had one chicken wrap, which was much better than I thought it would be. Hope all is well. |
Ooops, forgot to mention....yesterday....trip to Old Navy....bought size 16 jeans.....:bravo: :cb: :cp:  ...I rule!!!!!
|
:bravo: Simcoe! I'm thrilled for you for those size 16 jeans. I am anxious to be able to go buy size 20 jeans. I was able to get into my size 22's without feeling like I would pass out.
I spent too much time tonight working on my wireless internet connection - again. Its been a week with my new laptop and I haven't been able to get it to work. I took it to work this morning to show the PC wizkid and he made a few suggestions. So I promptly uninstalled software as he suggested and that didn't work. I was so frustrated. Fortunately, I found on the backup CD where I could reinstall the software. Out of sheer desperation and being generally pissed off, I pushed the reset button on the router. Wa..la..it works. So, I'm sitting now on the deck while DH sits with me and the dog eats. They think I'm paying attention but I'm really posting here! Food has been good today. I'm within my budget on balance log. Its hot (over 100 again today) so I'm not sure about the dog walking. Tomorrow is a new day bootcampers. Don't give up! Even little steps count. |
Way to go Simcoe!!!!!! I can barely remember what it's like to fit into clothes that don't have a size starting with a "2"...
I'm still hanging in there, doing better than I was last week too! I'm hoping the funk has passed, but tonight will be the test... Only one more day til friday! psm :) |
Hi gang!
Good to see your funk is passing, Pam. This week at work, we had a financial review done by all the department heads. They discuss where they are in relation to goals and financial plan. One of the SVP's said something that struck home. He started to say "I hope we're back on plan.." but then stopped himself and said, "Hope is not a strategy, I plan to be back..." I just thought it was so appropriate for our goals as well. I'm working on changing my thought process to, "I plan to .." and "I will.." Think about what you want to happen and formulate the "I plan's" and gain control again! Have a great bootcamp day! |
I agree, Terri. My husband is "trying" to quit smoking and is famous for saying "Maybe I will try....". I always say to him not to say "try", but to say "I will". Saying the former always gives you an easy way out.
|
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, my life has been one big crazy upside down world the past six weeks. I am not losing, but I'm maintaining my previous loss, which is fine with me! I plan on jumping back into the full swing of weight loss tomorrow (Sunday). I am still watching what I eat and squeezing exercise in when I can, but starting tomorrow I'm back to the regular 5am workouts. I'm not sure if I'll have the time to journal my food on FitDay, but I'll do my best. I've been really pretty good at keeping my eating in check, that hasn't been the problem. My problem has been lack of exercise. I cannot lose weight unless I exercise and I need to tone up as well....which won't happen unless I start shakin' my booty and doing some serious lifting. I have 2 months until my Hawaii wedding and I want to lose 8 pounds, which is a pound a week. I think that's do-able.
Come on gals, get that energy back up again! |
Hi bootcampers!
We've only one week left of our August challenge. Its not too later to make positive steps towards your goals. Since I usually get lazy on the weekend and overeat, I set goals for exercise this morning. I made a schedule of when I would exercise and what I would do. I said I would do my morning exercises at 8:30, do a 20 min video at 10:00, do 30 mins on the spinner at 1:00 and walk the dog at 8:30 pm. I didn't necessarily do everything at the exact time but I have done everything except walk the dog. That will come when its dark. I feel great for having done that. No more hoping for success! It will happen. Genesis - Yes, a pound a week certainly is doable. Just takes focus and planning. You can do this! A Hawaiian wedding, how fun! Good luck and get your butt moving girl! Simcoe - My DH quit smoking after many many years of smoking. His last cig was in the parking lot of the emergency room at 6:00 am just before he went in to find out he had had a heart attack. He quit cold turkey. Yowsa though, his mood swings afterward were brutal. However, he doesn't regret it. Kick your DH in the butt but never give up trying to encourage him. I used to have a Dr. Phil column where the wife wrote in about whether it was okay or not to nag her husband about improving his health. Dr. Phil said it wasn't nagging if it was something that the husband really needed to do to possibly save his life. Good luck! I must go update Balance Log now and find out if I get to have an evening snack or not. Have a great weekend! |
Good morning!
Just a quick report for yesterday. Food was relatively good. I think we ended up slightly over which is an improvement of being blown out of the water as usual. As for exercise, I did the hand weight stuff, 1 mile WATP and walked the dog. My goal for the week is to get in six hours of exercise between today and Sunday. Its going to be tough because we're having triple digit temps all this week which wrecks havoc on my allergies and stamina. But that's my plan! Have a great day! |
Hi ladies, I managed to drag my behind out of bed at 5:20am this morning & struggle through my Crunch fitness DVD "Step & Sweat." It's hard to get really into your step workout when you keep yawning & feel like you could immediately fall back to sleep if you just laid down on the floor! But, I did it. Good start to a great week! Julie
|
Hi girls. Good going everyone on the exercise thing. Exercise is very informal for me during the summer because none of my programs run...just keep busy walking, biking etc. Seems to work okay. Food has been okay too, but we had chips in the house yesterday, and, well you know, just had to "get rid of them".
|
monday...
Hi Ladies,
I'm in class this week, but thought I'd drop in and say howdy. things are going better, but I'm not going to hit my weight goal for this month, but that's okay, but in August I think I really made some fitness and strength improvements. And as long as I'm down maybe 5 pounds I'll be happy. I'm up today from last week, but there was a BBQ on Saturday which is the cause of most of that, so I'm not worried that it won't come back off. One goal I'm DEFINTELY going to make is the 1560 minutes of exercise for the month. I can't remember where I'm at right now, but it's around 1100 minutes and still 7 days to go. Here's to a successful last week of this challenge for all of us! psm :) |
Good morning!
Bringing us up in the list. Hey Pam, 5 pounds down is great. Anything down is great! I won't hit my goal to be under 250 but I'll be closer than I was. You've done great; you've lost 65 pounds! :bravo: I'm coming to the conclusion that maybe its better to be focused on becoming stronger and building endurance than having the pounds fly off. If I make my body stronger and more efficient, then I will feeling better and more apt to eat better. The weight will continue to come off even if slowly. I'm already plotting my plans for a September bootcamp. I think it will be in being stronger about what I'm already doing; not increase time or weights. No exercise last night. It was so freaking hot that by the time I go to the store after work and then home, I had a bad headache. DH was exhausted after driving in the bus with no air. We wimped out and ordered pizza - didn't want to heat up the kithcen OR go get something healthy. There won't be a repeat tonight though. Have a great day! |
